About this property

This contemporary retreat is on the edge of Beckley Village, brought to life by enticing woodland, with a wonderful lawned garden and two fabulous decked areas to choose from. Perfect for families or friends to visit, Boxwood Retreat is a lovely haven to base your holiday, well-insulated to warm those cooler winter months, with the addition of a woodburner, whilst bringing a light, airy feel in the summer. Follow the pretty footpath round to the cottage and you can enter the property at several points, surrounded by mature oak, chestnut and pine trees with a vast array of flora and fauna. The house comprises of a spacious open-plan living/kitchen/dining space with breakfast bar, and a utility room on the upper level which opens up to two generous outdoor dining terraces. Social evenings can begin inside, before continuing the fun outdoors, perhaps catching a glowing sunset as the night draws in.

One double bedroom and two twin bed rooms, accommodating up to six people, are located on the lower ground floor, together with two large fully tiled family size bathrooms, one en-suite to the main double bedroom, this can also be locked from the bedroom to form a second family room. Relax inside to admire the artwork gracing the walls, or wander outside for some quality time together, perhaps lighting the barbecue, as you uncover the one-of-a-kind location in its entirety. The area is alive with popular places to visit; the medieval town of Rye boasts historic houses, cobbled streets with tea rooms and antiques shops, battlements and boats, and perched at the top of the hill looking down on all below, is Rye Castle, built in 1249. At the end of a busy day, Flatropers Woods will call you back with its leaves rustling on the trees allowing you to relax and unwind in the comfort of nature.

The village of Beckley remains a quintessential English village with local shops, churches and a village hall staging events throughout the year, with race nights, craft fairs and even an amateur theatre group all taking their turn. Popular for its surrounding woodland and their numerous walks, the River Rother also runs close by and is great for a summer stroll or a picnic on the riverbank.
