I will never go again. Lost 7 days holiday and money. Had to book hotel and pay for food. Very very disappointed with hoseans allowing booking at this site.

We came to Cupola lodge - I agree with a lot of the other reviews, its a lodge desperately in need of an upgrade, even the decking could be doing with a lick of paint. There are holes in the wall, a broken lamp and the shower is pathetic. The lodge was mostly clean, I wish those cleaning lodges would check crockery to ensure its been cleaned properly. I always clean everything before we use it, but there were cups that were still dirty when we arrived! A few people had said that the sofa was tired, but we found it quite comfortable - the TV could do with an update though too.The hot tub was a great addition - we really enjoyed using it and it meant that we could chill out and relax after being out during the day, or even as an early morning treat or late at night dip. The surroundings were beautiful, its a little bit remote, so no light pollution, perfect for star gazing whilst in the hot tub. There are a LOT of flies around! I regularly had to clean them up from the window sills, or fish them out of the hot tub - this is in October, so I can imagine in summer its worse. So bring some kind of fly trapper with you. They are obviously creating more lodge plots at the moment, but that meant we had to put up with site traffic going past the lodge constantly - even early in the morning, not ideal.Location was OK - they claim there are 'walks' - there are no 'walks' - at least, not any we found. There was also supposed to be bike hire - no on there to hire us out bikes, not in October anyway. There is a little play park across the bridge in the caravan park and its nice, the picnic tables looked brand new. Its also quite a distance from the bar/restaurant they advertise on the site as well - drivable, not really walkable. I rated 5 for helpfulness of staff, but there were no onsite staff as far as I could see, so we didn't really interact with any to give it a decent review. Not sure if there are any facilities - there may have been, but I guarantee they were closed at this time of the year. There really isn't that much to do here if you're looking to fill your days/evenings - for us it was perfect as it forced us to relax, but I think the kids definitely missed the arcades.Close to Hadrian's Wall, so we were able to go and see parts of it and its a good location for going to either the Lake District or other parts of Northumberland.
