We went in November when it gets very dark at about 4pm. Check in was not until after 5pm and on arrival we were told by bar staff where our lodge was. The Woodwalton is away from the other cabins and has no working outdoor lighting. It was very difficult to try and see to find the cabin entrance and without a torch it would have been quite unsafe given the wooden ramp and surroundings. The lack of outdoor lighting also made this cabin feel very isolated and meant we didn’t like to use the hot tub in the evening. The lodge itself was a good size, very clean and warm. However the kitchen equipment and utensils were very dirty and missing quite a few bits. The hot tub was very dirty and smelt quite mouldy so we only used it once. The staff at the bar and restaurant were very helpful and the food and drink was very good and reasonably priced. However all the staff seemed to leave and close the clubhouse at 6pm which again added to the isolation of the lodges. I think I’m the summer when the site is busier with lighter evenings this would be a lovely place to visit. There was only one other person staying when we were and we never saw them so after 6pm in the winter this was abit more daunting and stressful than relaxing. Lastly no WiFi though the website said there would be. When asked staff they said it was broken unsure when being fixed.
