"It has been beautifully renovated and retains many of it's original features. It is beautifully furnished with carefully selected antiques which gives it a very cosy homely feeling, instead of the frequent 'showroom' design of many others which although lovely, make them less relaxing. The location is remote and peaceful, perfect for those who want to get away from it all. A newly extended and beautifully designed bathroom adds a touch of relaxing glamour. This is the perfect getaway for anyone. I would add one tiny note of caution..... The barn has an up-to-date heating system which works perfectly, instead of the frequently found storage heaters! There is also a wonderful log burner which itself subsidises the heating whilst providing a cosy and romantic element to the ambiance of the cottage. I usually take my breaks during the winter months and am use to staying in cottages in the wilds of North Yorkshire so am no stranger to the cold! This little barn still retains many of the original windows and old doors which realistically means it comes with the associated drafts! This is not a criticism but merely a note of caution; if it is windy, icy or snowing be prepared that the barn can be a little chilly unless you are prepared to keep the log burner stoked throughout the day with plenty of logs. An initial basket of logs are supplied free of charge and the owner has a good supply of logs in the barn itself which are charged at the equivalent of £5 a bag. Be prepared then to take a chequebook or some cash if staying during the winter as if the weather conditions are cold, you will need to pay a little extra to keep yourself warm. I imagine that in the spring or summer this little hidden treasure is the perfect place to stay and you couldn't find a more helpful owner who is close at hand, should you have any problems."

"There was a lovely warm welcome with great personal touches from the owners for both us and the dogs (we loved the welsh cakes and coffee , they loved their treats) . We stayed in very warm weather during the World Cup , hubster loved the bigger than expected tv. Free internet if you sign up not bad can be intermittent (2-3mg broadband speed on visit) Kitchen fully equipped ( hubster sad he had to wash the dishes ) and I loved the quality of crockery and glasses . Beds and furniture were comfy , and whilst the lodge is a little aged the decor is well maintained and lovely . Enclosed(ish) veranda meant we could have the doors open to cool down and not worry about the dogs escaping , The site itself is small and residential so fairly quiet ,you will hear a bit of road noise but not significant we slept with the windows open. The village itself has very few amenities, there is a shop and a cafe at the garage but it’s range is not vast , and the ‘local’ is a distance away we didn’t try it , so be prepared to cook dinner , that being said Llandrindod Wells(a short drive) has a Aldi and a Tesco’s which is easily accessible and Rhayader( we drove through almost daily)has an excellent butchers (bobs) and a big co-op and spar . We were not short of activities in the shade and sun , Llandrindod has a lovely little stroll around the lake and also the rock Gardens , Rhayader has a beautiful riverside walk and the elan valley dams , an hour drive to Aberystwyth with all The shenanigans there and 40mins to devils bridge waterfalls . In short we had a wonderful week, was blessed with lovely weather and always felt relaxed when back at the lodge"

"! What good is a website when you have no wifi in the cottage and we had no computer. The lights went out in the main bathroom and no shower, all the appliance sockets in the kitchen went out except for the cooker and we only had 3 matches for the fire in the living room which we found very difficult to light with no kindle, and all the heating had gone off. I tried to ring the owner and the agent, but the phones went straight to voicemail. the first time I managed to talk to anyone was at 9:00 the next morning with Sykes. The cottage at this point was freezing cold and we had to carry the kettle into the living room to plug in so that we could have a cup of tea. The hot tub is also broken. You have very fine jets at the side, but no bubbles, as we were told they had been broken by children in the past When I spoke to the young girl with Sykes the next morning she kept apologizing to us and asked why I did not ring the out of hours number, but this was not printed in the book and was certainly not offered when we rang the Sykes number that was given to you in the book, only an apology that you were taking a rest! Sykes did offer to buy us breakfast in the morning so we could go somewhere warm and eat, but we were literally in the middle of nowhere. I don't remember seeing a shop let alone somewhere to get breakfast After speaking to Sykes, the agent was round within 15mins to sort out the fuse and then left the fuse box open in case it happened again On the plus side, the cottage is really beautiful, and so is the surrounding area. If you want to get away from everything, this is the place to go"

"I booked this holiday for me and my partner to go away for a valentines break with our dog. I booked Shepherds View because it looked like nothing i've seen before and it was different but at the same time - very modern. The whole week was amazing from start to finish. The one thing I was a little wary of was how small it looked, but I can honestly say its a lot bigger and spacious than it might look! Its got great facilities inside, the bed is very very comfy, its modern from top to bottom and we loved it. The place itself, is so remote, if you have a dog it is ideal - There is big open fields everywhere for them to run wild! The hot tub is huge and is so nice to relax in, in the evening or the afternoon. it is very easy to use and does everything you would ask of a hot tub! The owners are so helpful, kind and also very reachable via text or phone! They were lovely to us all week. So all in all I can highly recommend this place, the other pods look stunning too, all with private hot tubs. There is a town literally 3 minutes drive down the road with everything you need, with a big Tesco and Aldi also only 15 minutes away. We will more than likely come back and fetch other members of the family too!"
