"We arrived mid-afternoon to be greeted by Suzanne. Walking into S21390, the boys ran up their spiral staircase to choose their beds. We took our dog through to the fenced off garden and was greeted with a stunning view of Castle Hill with the brook meandering through the fields. Bliss. Phil told us that all the farm fields were available to explore and walk our dog in, be aware there are sheep, lots of sheep, so it makes sense to have your dog on a lead. The living area is perfect for a family, large dining table for mealtime, two leather recliner sofas for relaxing (when your not outside drinking in the views) with freeview tv and dvd player, both bedrooms have their own seperate staircase with a large queensize bed on one side of the barn and two single beds on the other, no complaints from the boys about sleeping and we slept like babies. The kitchen area is adequate, having all the utilities you need although when we booked we read there was a washing machine, there isn't. The only gripe came from our son and his friend that there was no broadband/wi-fi but Suzanne and Phil assured us that plans were in place to fix that. Night here is amazing with a cloudless sky, I never knew you could see so many stars. The nearest town is Llandrindod Wells about seven miles away which has everything you need for supplies and one or two good pubs. S21390 is about fifty miles from the coast with some wonderful beaches that are dog friendly but check first as some beaches ban dogs during certain months. Borth is perfect for long walks with your dog, boasting ten miles of soft sand. The mountain pass to Aberystwyth and Borth takes longer to get there but is well worth the time with stunning views of the Elan Valley. All in all a beautifully relaxing week spent in stunning countryside. Highly recommended."

"Really lovely place. Two families stayed in S77130, while some friends were in the neighbouring cottage, for New Year's Eve. Beautifully furnished, well-equipped kitchen, lovely views onto a field of sheep. I can imagine it would be wonderful in the summer. The weather wasn't great, but that's hardly the fault of the cottage ... and makes the wood burning stove even more cosy! The nearest (small) supermarket is a ten minute drive away, a Spar, which is perfectly adequate for basics, while there are larger centres of civilisation (eg Oswestry, Welshpool) where you can stock up on more elaborate fare. Powis Castle is a great day out, and there seem to be assorted steam railways open which would be great for kids (not open over the festive period though). I can't really find fault, although it would have been nice if a bar of soap was available in the bathrooms."

"A lovely retreat for a tranquil environment to either connect with nature or escape from the noise pollutions of everyday life. We did! This home has a great atmosphere of charm and eccentricity along with a warm wood burner and the spoils of birds singings and the country fields beyond. Tom has made available acres of exploring the Welsh hills with avenues of forest, harvested fields, grazing and water features in abundance. His commitment to maintaining all things natural whilst being able to incorporate a few comfort treats is above and beyond and very much appreciated. We wish him well in the endeavour to open up more opportunities to bring people into his Welsh natural world and experience a quiet environment where even a falling star can be heard. All the best, Karen and Alan"

"From the moment we arrived and were welcomed by Margaret, two bottles of fizz and a tub of home-made brownies, we knew our family 'Eurovision' weekend was going to be great. This is just the most perfect place for a large family gathering, and so much room to spread out. The 'library' on the second floor is absolutely stunning, and the pictures on here do not do it justice. Plenty of fridge room, with an extra one for chilled drinks..... Good cooking facilities, and whilst the pots and pans may not be shiny and new, they are perfectly adequate. Also, if you're there with nice weather, as we were, there are three large BBQs on the patio. Beds were comfy, and the bedrooms a good size. We had a great time, and I'm sure we'll be back"

"What a lovely cottage and such beautiful views. We had a wonderful relaxing week, exactly what we wanted. The kids loved the dogs coming over to visit, and being able to visit and holding the lambs on the farm was a bonus. The owners are lovely and very helpful, I now have a new skill... Fire lighting! You have to see the place for yourself to appreciate how amazing it is. Not loads to do locally but that's exactly what we wanted, found enough to do in the days before snuggling up with the real fire in the evenings. We would definitely return. Only downside, kitchen needs a new oven and a bit if a spring clean"
