"Having stayed in Cullen on many previous occasions, we were looking forward to returning. Firstly, the positives....great location in the centre of the village with parking outside the front door. So on arrival, we found that there was no 'Welcome pack" in the kitchen, no big deal but why advertise it? The property was grubby and very much "surface clean". Internally the decor was tired, with chipped walls, the handles on the kitchen cupboards were peeling. There were only 5 dinner plates in the kitchen, (we were a party of 6). The crockery and dishes were old, chipped and mismatched. There were also a couple of safety concerns..... Cupboard off the hall - there is a small step down into the cupboard, which should be highlighted as a couple of our party slipped going into the cupboard. Parts of the property have low ceilings, again no signage to indicate same.Basic attention to detail was lacking, remote control in the twin room required new batteries, info folder was basic with no instructions for use of the electrical appliances. There was however, recycling info detailing which bin to use, not ideal though as all the exterior bins were full to the brim on our arrival! The biggest gripe were the poor quality mattresses, pillows and duvets. The pillows were old and thin and the duvets were the same. In fact, we went to the Tesco in Buckie to buy new pillows as they were so thin and flat. The mattress were poor quality, as were the paper mattress covers!!! There were no additional bedding or towels provided, which I would expect especially for a 7 night stay. It is my understanding the owners have recently sold the property, it seems that perhaps they have lost any interest in providing a quality product, very disappointing."

"This is an outstanding cottage with wonderful charm and character, a real home from home. It is set in a picturesque location, in a coastal fishing village, on the Moray firth. The cottage is spacious, full of character and wonderfully decorated. It has everything you could possibly need! Clean, cosy and with some lovely personal touches, including a book containing information about the history of the cottage - fascinating - an old fisherman's cottage transformed into a contemporary coastal holiday home. The cottage has beautiful views out to sea. Portknockie harbour is quaint and peaceful, and Bow Fiddle Rock is just a few minutes walk from the house. This offered us incredible views and wonderful photo opportunities. We'd recommend getting up early to watch the sunrise behind Bow Fiddle - absolutely stunning! The Moray Coast Trail is a stones throw away and runs for 50 miles along the coast; perfect for cycling, running or walking along. We loved seeing seals from Portessie Bay, Ospreys from the top of the Bin of Cullen and we're looking forward to coming back to see the dolphins! We thoroughly recommend a holiday here!"

"This is the best holiday cottage I have stayed at. Attention to details and quality of the furnishings and fittings are fabulous. Cottage is ideal for two couples as one sleeps upstairs, the other down. We had a disabled person and it was great for him being on the one level. Kitchen was very well equipped, we do all our own cooking and found we had everything we needed, and more, again the quality of the kitchen equipment was a delight to us. Owners are very welcoming, welcome pack was lovely, great information for appliances dotted around. Book containing information about the area was very handy. The dressings of the rooms was very tasteful, plentiful, without being over done and made the cottage feel like a home not a "let" Cottage is in an ideal location for touring. I hadn't been to this area before and was amazed at how beautiful it is. The fishing villages with their harbours are picture perfect and steeped in history. The Whisky Trail is on the door step, castles, grand houses, shortbread factories, birds, seals, deer and dolphins are in plenty supply. A wonderful time was had by all."

"WoW !! What a wonderful cottage from the decor to the furnishings everything was immaculate. Every little detail thought of.and supplied. From the welcome basket and the milk and cakes in the fridge, DVD's, Books, CD's, Board Games and leaflets of places to go and see with maps etc, the toiletries and everything else in between. Practically everything you could need. The bed was so comfortable I had the best nights sleep in ages. The living room was so cosy and relaxing it made us almost reluctant to go out. We found the cottage a perfect base to explore the North east of Scotland and all the little harbours along the Banff coast. The Ice Cream shop in Cullen has the most amazing selection of Ice Cream and the Beggars Belief cafe in Portsoy is a quirky little place and they do lovely sandwiches and light lunches. The owners of the cottage couldn't do enough for us and were always on hand should we need them for anything. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a wonderfully luxurious break away from it all. We will definitely be staying here again. Cath & Phil Warrington"

"Been in UK for 5 months, have stayed in lots of cottages this is the best yet! Attention to detail is superb. Everything was spotless and comfortable, lovely fluffy towles, good quality linen, furnished to perfection. We were very impressed with the quality of the cooking equipment, dinner service, placemats Etc Rachel and Graham made us feel very welcome, even invited us to arrive early. The "welcome pack" included muffins which were just yum! This couple have done everything possable to make the cottage home from home, and more, lots of advice on where to visit, eat and shop. Cottage is in a fantastic area for touring. Go into all the small fishing villages, they are all individual and full of history, loved the 17th century harbour at Portsoy, Pennan was another favourite. The Whisky Trail, castles and general countryside are all within easy reach as is Walkers and Deans shortbread factory shops and Baxters museum and shops. Plenty to do for a week ore two. Thanks again for such a delightful cottage."
