"I chose this place because I knew the area and the building, having at one stage thought of buying one of the flats there. The entrance to the apartments is dismal and dirty. The apartment is nicely appointed and sitting room and bedroom are nice rooms despite there being an over abundance of tartan. Flowers and a welcome basket awaited us which was nice. However, the bed was very uncomfortable and noisy as though springs had given way. In the lounge, the settee covers looked in need of a wash, but the worst bit was the kitchen which is shabby and in need of a visit from IKEA. An awkward shape but what shelves are there are littered with baskets etc so nowhere to put any shopping. The bathroom needed finger marks taken off the door, the bath is fine but the shower is hopeless. Also, the tv is temperamental and only really works using the iPlayer. The entrance to the drive down to the house is tricky due to the parked cars on the road. Having said all that, the owner was very pleasant on the phone and I imagine will put things right."

"A stunning cottage very sympathetically renovated and furnished to keep the best of the period features but also provide every modern convenience. Indoors, every room is high ceiling-ed and spacious. The owners (who live across the road) are very helpful and kindly provide all manner of luxuries such as guest soaps, shampoo, body lotion and a 'welcome pack' that includes very delicious home made biscuits! The beds are delightfully comfortable and the pillows are to die for - I wanted to bring them home!! There is also a stunning view from the larger bedroom's window. If I *had* to level a single down side it would simply be the traffic outside, which is much heavier than you would expect from such narrow lanes - but it's livable with. For those like me with walking difficulties, there is a ramp to the rear door (be advised though that there is a small lip at the threshold). Doors are adequately wide enough to take a wheelchair or walking frame. However, the beautiful bathroom is not suitable for a wheelchair user at the time of writing."

"Cosy compact cottage. Pleased to see good size shower room with excellent shower and bath sheets. TV was adequate, no humming as reported in other reviews. Needs to be set on channel 2 then use digibox and make sure the scart lead is connected as we had problems to begin with but soon solved. Real flame gas fire cosy in evenings when cool and the owner did put the heating on when cold. An earlier review complained about the mattress - now has a foam topper in place. We had no problems sleeping. A paradise for golfers - about 26 courses in the area we were told. Do play the Glen at North Berwick if you do golf, beautiful scenery but 3-4 hills. Excellent food at the Longniddry Arms - do book if you are going. Great train service to Edinburgh and Musselburgh Races. (An enjoyable day out). Would stay again. Downside - no Wifi."

"S87937 is spacious and well equipped, (very comfy beds!) and Andrew the owner was very helpful from start to finish. There are fantastic views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and out to sea. We spent ages watching the ships coming and going or looking for seals and Dolphins, so take some binoculars! Car parking is just across the road and the railway station is less than 5 minutes walk with frequent trains into Edinburgh (40 minutes and £9 return) or north to Dundee and beyond. The beach is 2 minutes walk and located on the Fife coastal path so ideal for those wanting to wander further afield. Kinghorn has all the local amenities you need (shops/pubs etc) and Kirkcaldy is less than 10 minutes by car/train if you need more. We’ll definitely be coming back next time we are looking to stay in the area."

"A few things that a little time spent would put right. The front door was sticking in the frame and needed a hard push to open and close. The freezer compartment in the fridge was taped closed, and unusable. The plug in the sink in the bathroom requires adjustment so that the water drains quickly. No obvious instructions for use of the TV etc or for use of the gas fire.Visitor information was years out of date.Cleaning was not really up to scratch, with a 2 week old paper still left on the table when we arrived. No lighting on the path from the car park to the door.A welcome from the owner would have been appreciated. Location was good, in a quiet residential area and not far from the beach.Overall a little TLC would go an awful long way!"
