"For context, we're a couple with a dog. We usually prefer secluded cottages, but as it was a last minute booking we didn't have many options so went with a village location. The main reason for picking S37523 was the large private enclosed garden. It was very dog secure with large walls around more of the perimeter and some large fence panels. This allowed for our dog to be off lead and we could all relax. There are surrounding properties, but the high walls of the garden and the setup of the property made it feel private. To update on comments from previous visitors. The drive is looked over by the front of a neighbouring property - a recent dividing fence has been installed that helps. The property has been setup around the garden at the back so it's not too much of a problem once you're inside - although the front of the neighbouring property can see right into one of the bedrooms (easily fixed by closing the blind). As others have said, the layout means one of the bedrooms is accessed via the only bathroom. This wasn't a problem for us, but I can see why it could be awkward for friends and families with older children. That aside, the rest of the cottage is nicely setup - the living space is homely, and the upstairs space would be great for kids. All of the downstairs rooms can be opened out onto the large garden, which would be great on a warm day.Pros- Large dog secure garden- 3 pubs in walking distance, and a shop- Good location for tourist sites- Homely live space with several rooms opening out to garden- Upstairs bedroom space is great for kidsCons- The front facing neighbouring property- The property is generally clean and well equipped, but some of the crockery needs a deep clean- The towels provided were old and crunchy, suggest taking your own- One of the bedrooms being accessed through the only bathroom"

"I stayed at S4019 with my partner, my parents and our dog. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at S4019. The location is perfect for Salisbury (10 minute drive from the nearest park and ride) and a 10 minute drive from stone henge. It is in a small village with a farm shop selling pies, cakes and vegetables and a pub called the Boot Inn that had a wide selection of lunches and evening meals. However, the shop was shut on Monday, our day of arrival. The cottage itself is gorgeous, just as I would imagine a cottage to be. The front garden is perfectly cared for. However, we took a miniature dog with us and he could have got out of the garden between the trees or through the gate. Not a problem as we had taken his extender lead with us so kept him on that. The family have thought of everything! They had a doggy cupboard with a selection of items for dogs - and had even provided the details of the nearest vets. Everything you could possibly need and more was provided. Child gate, hand washes with every sink, tissues, drinking straws, spare serviettes and plentiful cutlery are just a few of the items we were surprised to find. The family had also provided lots of information about the surrounding area, including tourists leaflets, local magazines and a list of the closest supermarkets with postcodes. The finishing touches were also perfect. The dinning table had already been laid and there were little teddy bears on every bed. This is our first cottage experience, and we felt the cottage was deserving of a four star rating rather than the three stars it had been given. It was a perfect place to stay and we would most definitely look to stay here again if we wanted a holiday in this area."

"Disappointing. Garden very unloved and full of fruit trees which had dropped their fruit everywhere and no one had collected so was infested with wasps so unable to have doors open. Kitchen equipment and crockery tired and dirty. Outside bin not emptied so overflowing and nowhere for us to put our rubbish. Couldnt get hold of owner when trying to get key ended up using caretaker number who was very kind but said his number should no longer be listed! Welcome pack was some A4 sheets scribbled on and tied with string. Coat hangers in wardrobe too big so door wouldn't shut! Oven very old and dirty. Oven glove needs throwing out!! Layout very impractical but was aware of this quirk to an extent. Booked this place because of garden photos as took our dog too. But if yr hiring out a property you cannot have that amount of fruit trees and no maintenance of garden. If I had young children I would have been very worried about them being stung. Nice village but house and garden very unloved. Not worth the money."

"Sadly very disappointed, we have stayed here before with no complaints. This time however the property was sadly in need of a lot of TLC. The garden was scruffy the grass had not been cut and the patio full of weeds. The dog escaped through inadequatefencing. All the tea cups in the kitchen were either chipped, cracked, dirty or all of these. The oven was disgustingly dirty. The sink had not been cleaned properly, neither had the dishwasher, we had to buy rinse aid in order for the crockery and cutlery to regain their sparkle. There was a bowl of mouldy food left on the window sill. The grate had not been cleaned and was full of ash. The bathroom was not very clean and when the toilet was flushed water bubbled up through the shower plug.Shabby chic is fine but inadequate cleaning in the kitchen and bathroom is unacceptable for the price that we paid,lWe do feel that a part refund would be in order."

"This is a lovely small converted building in a very quiet location yet close to local amenities (walking distance) like a nice pub, small supermarket & Chinese takeaway (they delivered to us too). Lovely greeting from the owner Caroline upon my wife & I's arrival. The Hayloft is very clean & has everything you need if you're self catering or just as a base for exploring the surrounding area as we did. We love horses & could see them in the field from the bedroom window & by going up to the fence they would come over to us. We also looked at the horses in the livery stables & the goats which came up to greet us. The Hayloft has a private enclosed outdoor area which was perfect for our Westie dog to play in. It was nice to find on our arrival that there were some biscuits including 1 for the dog as well as a pint of milk in the fridge. Overall, a great place to stay."
