"We stayed here recently for 6 nights; there were 26 of us in our group (17 adults, 8 children (3y - 8y) and 1 baby. We booked the house (and the two separate villas) only one week before our holiday, having been let down by another chateau owner at the last minute. The house is beautiful, the grounds excellent and everybody had a lot of fun in the swimming pool. We had a fantastic time here and would definitely recommend it. There is a vey good dining area in the house, but we preferred to eat outside every day - there is lots of space and more than enough tables for kids and adults to eat at (there is a good canopied area too). Similar to other comments, it took us a while to sort out the room allocations (which involved moving beds about), but that was easily done. It was really hot during the week that we stayed and the second floor was quite warm, but the families staying up there bought a couple of fans and that helped. The second floor is perfect for children aged 5 upwards - there is also a fantastic dressing up box on this floor, with loads of different outfits, which all of the kids loved trying on (although sometimes a bit too early and noisly!). One night, we used the local caterers recommended by Regis (the owner) - cost 22 euros per person and the food that they delivered was superb (and lots of it); this option is highly recommended if you want to have a formal dinner one night. Only negative observations are as follows:- the kitchen was a bit dirty when we arrived, so we spent a bit of time cleaning everything. Not a big deal though. We booked the entire house at short notice. Unfortunately, it would appear that other guests had also booked to stay at the house on different nights during the week (most bookings through booking.com), so we frequently had people turning up saying that they had booked a room at the house etc. We then had to explain that we had a booking for the entire house, and they invariably had to contact Regis or Didier (Regis's manager) to arrange alternative accommodation at another place that Regis owned nearby. This happened on 8 or 9 occasions and whilst everyone that turned up (and subsequently left) was pleasant and understanding about it, it wasnt ideal. On the Thursday and Friday of our stay, some contractors turned up to get things ready for a wedding reception that was taking in the adjacent building on the saturday that we were leaving. This didnt cause us a real problem, except that they would occasionally come round the back of our house into the garden to check where they could put stuff (they tried to take a couple of tables on one occasion). They also tested the wedding sound system on the Friday night, and this was too loud and went on too long (from 6.30pm til after 8pm), which was annoying when we were trying to settle the kids and put our baby daughter to bed. Finally, the location is excellent, both for Magny Cours, Pouilly (great wine tasting) and lots of other surrounding villages and towns that are worth exploring. Overall, the negative comments didnt detract from a truly memorable holiday (the rating would have been excellent were it not for the above comments). Regis is a charming man and was always available to help us with questions or resolve any problems (we couldnt get wi-fi to work though). If Regis couldnt help, then Didier was also equally helpful (although he only spoke french)."

"We booked the Chateau and Annexe for one week in late September for a big holiday with family and friends. Everyone made a point of telling us what an incredible venue and area we had chosen - I'll list out a few of the many great things about Chateau-des-Siecles: - The owner/staff who looked after us incredibly well - they were responsive, made themselves available and checked up most days (without being intrusive) and they went out of their way to make our stay as stress-free as possible (e.g. helping move furniture / changing linen for new guests). - The accommodation - very tastefully decorated but without being stuffy (i.e. it felt like a place to be lived in and enjoyed), luxurious (great mattresses, linen, bathrooms, kitchens etc) and spacious with ample facilities for numerous groups to do their own thing, or indeed for everyone to get together. - The setting / location - the views from the Chateau and it's grounds have to be seen to be believed, everywhere you walk you spot another stunning aspect. The local area offers plenty of activities such as canoeing, cycling, walking or visiting vineyards - we could easily have spent a month exploring. - The little things - there were numerous touches which we were not expecting from a self-catering rental but which helped make our stay extra-special: pool towels washed and replaced each day, someone popping in in the early morning to clean and tidy communal areas and basic food provisions provided (jam, butter, milk etc) on the first day. - Value for money - given the astonishing setting and luxurious accommodation, Chateau-des-Siecles offers superb value for money. Highly recommended - so much so we are hoping to find another excuse to come back!"

"For this accommodation, 3 days in advance had to be called with the owner to indicate what time you would arrive. We had overlooked this, and because we expected to arrive earlier on Saturday, we did not call the owner until Saturday. The owner was unreachable! Also we could not find the house because there was no address only GPS coordinates. Fortunately, just before we entered the village, we got contact. The owner was still busy at the house, so we could go inside. The accommodation is very nice and spacious, with a large terrace and beautiful views. "beautiful starry night and the roar of wild boar in the nearby forests. We unfortunately discovered a hornet nest directly in the ridge of the house, and wasps nests under the eaves." The owner knew about it, but he does not take anything away unless you are bothered by it. The horns were not aggressive, but sailed regularly, but unpleasant. The wasps became very annoying during the week. There were no screens in front of the windows, a big gem.Me tip to the owner is to provide all windows with screens and to remove the nests, which greatly enhances the enjoyment of the living space.Furthermore, the layout of the kitchen (pans, potholders) could be more extensive, but it was in itself all very well in order. we also found a minus was that extra electricity and water had to be paid (according to consumption) Can not that just be calculated in the total price of the house? It is very unsympathetic to take that extra into account e! The environment of the house is very beautiful. Especially the Lac de Chamboux is a must. Not as massive as the Lac de Settons, much closer to the house, and quiet. Dogs welcome."

"I booked this property for a large group of 12 adults and 10 kids (although the property could take 4 or 5 more). The plan was to have a base as we cycled around the area. I am delighted to say this property delivered on every level and the whole group felt it was one of the best holidays we've ever had. The owner met us at the beginning and gave us a tour. Starting at the top of the house, there is a large loft area with rooms at each end. This is where we put the kids, and they loved it, it's a massive room. The adults then took up the other rooms in the property, which includes two outbuildings if some people want more privacy. On the ground floor there is a grown up dining room, sitting room, reception room and kitchen. We spent almost all our time in the garden area and pool. We ate outside every night on the decking. The kids loved the garden, which is huge, swimming pool is surrounded with trees and gated off, so if you have young children you can keep them safe. The surrounding area has a great deal to offer. The most useful amenities are in Magny Cours, which is 3km away. They have an intermarche, which has everything you'll need. There is also a pattiserie and pharmacie. Further afield, Nevers has some nice spots and you can cycle there along the canal, or turn the other way for Devizes. We also visited Sancerre and Moulins. Overall, this is a great property to rent. Nothing is too precious, but you have loads of space to relax and be merry. We hope to book again."

"The property was beautiful and Avril and Marion were lovely to work with, as well as Oliver's Travels. They really made our trip as easy and enjoyable as possible. We had only booked the main house and Burgundy was entering a heat wave so she opened up the entire property to us and made other rooms which had air conditioning available to us. Technically, she didn't have to, but we definitely wouldn't have enjoyed ourselves as much as temperatures were up to 100 degrees at times, and we had young kids with us. That aside, the grounds were beautifully maintained, Avril was on site and waiting for us to show us around and responded right away to any requests we had. We were welcomed with some fresh cherries, tomatoes and bottles of wine. We had inquired if there were any coffee makers and told there was coffee, nespresso and tea. We expected just a couple of nespresso pods to tie us over, but it was like a nespresso and tea store!! The kitchens were also well equipped with oils, salt, pepper, spices, all the cookware you could need that were also top of the line. We did do some cooking but we also had some meals prepared by the recommended chefs. Chef Ollie prepared a duck confit as our welcome meal and it was amazing! chef Phillip also cooked for us, and he was just a delight to work with. Gael dropped off our meal, and it was another hit. We would definitely come back and highly recommend."
