"A lovely place to stay if you want total peace and quiet! It's a lovely cottage, very well equipped - the kitchen is large and has everything you could want. The woodburner is effective - the central heating is run from it, so you do need to keep it going if it's chilly. The bed is very comfortable and sleeping in total silence is a real treat. Web didn't use the sofa bed as a bed, but as a sofa it's perfect for curling up in front of the fire. We didn't use the games in the cupboard but there are loads of them! The lovely owners live next door and are very helpful, but will leave you to enjoy the peace without interruption. Dog owners - no dogs on the furniture (fair enough) and be aware that the garden is shared, so you're asked not to exercise dogs there. There are loads of nearby walks, beaches and quiet country lanes, so this really isn't a problem. You're asked to remove pet hair etc before you leave (again, that's fair enough) but with mostly hard flooring and a good Dyson, that was a ten-minute whip round. If muddy paws need a wash after a walk, there's a mop bucket and an outside tap - there are dog towels supplied too!Ruthwell Church with its stunning 8th Century Cross is an easy 10 minute walk along the lane."

"This cottage helped us to make the decision to never rent a holiday cottage again and go back to hotel accommodation in the future. Our first impressions were favourable as it all looks pleasing to the eye, but the beds are unbelievably uncomfortable, which caused us to have to get up at 3 am with aching backs and go lie on the sofas instead. The water is not hot enough for a bath, so only showering is possible, but when the bed has made your back hurt, a hot bath would give some welcome relief. The shower tray I tried using didn't have an anti-slip mat and no shelf for the soap or shampoo and I considered it to be dangerous. The door locks are very difficult to lock and unlock and the back door only opens half way. The crockery has seen better days, with the glazing badly scraped by previous users and we considered the plates unhygienic to use. We went home a day early because we were fed up of feeling uncomfortable and tired through lack of sleep. This cottage was the straw that broke the camels back!"

"The cottage is lovely but has ‘teething’ issues. Doors drag badly on carpets, needs cushions on the sofas, no microwave. Small things but need attention. Also I would question if this could be classed as dog friendly, it is all decorated in white and cream, including all the floors being painted! This made them quite slippy and scratched easily with dogs claws. The track to the cottage was very muddy and full of big holes but we were assured that this was to be remediated when the building of the damn for the hydro electric power plant was complete at the end of Jan 2018. We were ok with 4x4 but take care until remediation work confirmed. It is beautiful and peaceful but needs these little issues addressing before we would return."

"The cottage is perfectly located, very cosy and comfortable with everything you need for a real get away from it all holiday. Newtonmore is a wonderful village with very helpful and friendly locals and the nearby walks through the glen and alongside the river and gorge are spectacular. Great days out were on the doorstep or within a 90 minute drive with amazing scenery wherever you go. It was my 50th birthday and Diane and Rod very kindly gave me a bottle of fizz and extra dining chairs as we had friends over for dinner one evening.....this was above and beyond and extremely thoughtful. We cannot wait to go back. The roll top bath is a very special treat too. Loved every second and miss being there very much."

"Our holiday was very nice. The location is great, in the middle of the nature. That is what we loved. Also the owner was great. He came immidiataly when the heater did not work. We got another one. He took us up in his own car to hear and see red dear and red grouse. He is so nice. The cottage is small, very old. What we did not like was the bed. It was too small for 2 persons. There is no reiception of 4G, telephone, wifi or television, but we get use to it. We read a lot of books. It was great to experience. And...after a few days we liked it.My husband is disabled, he can manage in the cottage. Maybe a ramp at the grass will be fine."
