"Aultbea is a great setting with beautiful mountain and loch views. Friendly people in the area. The steading is a well stocked and comfortable base. Kitchen excellent. Nice to have Velux windows for the sky views. Very pleasant to relax in the conservatory. Of all the places we have stayed in, The Steading has just about everything utensil wise in the kitchen and definitely the best allocation of local books and maps. Plenty of room and everything worked. Handy instructions from the owners. Showers stayed hot after long days out! Bathrooms spotless. Utility room very handy (access to a vacuum cleaner might be handy). Light sleepers might not like the bedroom above the kitchen: my hard-of-hearing relative kept getting woken by kitchen sounds by those of us up early. Would recommend a repaint in the living room. One issue we had on arrival was finding the king size bedding not cleaned properly. We found various stains on the bed sheet. We went to the washing machine and found it on a 30 degree cycle, so maybe it had not been washed on a high heat? With that one exception, we had a wonderful stay overall. The steading is a property with lots of equipment and character in a lovely setting."

"Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Took a bit of finding at first but once we had found it it was all fine. Very clean, tidy and well equipped. It felt homely as soon as we walked in and we were soon comfortable and settled. Our 3 year old loved exploring the house and garden which is steep in places but that is mentioned in the description and we just kept a closer eye on her at the back of the property. We had some fantastic sunsets and sunrises from the property . Great weather and Dolphins spotted from the boat trips. Shop in Gairloch is very well stocked and open until late every day including Sunday so you never go short. Badracho Inn still as good as ever. The road down to Port Henderson at first seems a very long one even when we knew this but after a few days you quickly get used to the bends and it started to feel much quicker. All in all a great holiday in a lovely house in a fantastic location with stunning views!"

"Tigh an Lasgair is a superb place to stay if you want complete solitude. There are neighbours but you can't see them from the house. The house is big enough to sleep 6 people very comfortably, with 3 double bedrooms (1 with twin beds) and 2 shower rooms (1 with a bath). Very well equiped. Very warm and cosy with underfloor heating and woodburner, though we found this was not needed even in March. Beautiful views. Some fab beaches nearby. Nearest pub/restaurant/shop about 10 miles away in Sheildaig. The food at the Coastal Kitchen was fab. Applecross Inn about 14 miles. Good seafood there but I wouldn't recommend it for vegetarians. The dish I had was terrible. Make sure you take plenty of basic food with you. If you are a nervous driver I would say be very sure before you book because the roads to the house are not for the faint hearted. The owners were really helpful too."

"Fabulous cottage in a beautiful location. Will definitely return to Applecross area without a doubt. However, certain parts of the cottage could do with a deep clean e.g. the fridge, cooker and living room carpet. As we rented in winter and the water supply comes from the loch, we were told on the day we arrived that the pipes would freeze in cold weather and we could be without water. We had a 4 month old baby with us and although this wouldn't have stopped me coming, had I been informed beforehand I would have ensured I took bottled water to make baby formula if the water did stop. The upstairs bathroom wasn't working also because of the frozen pipes and so 4 adults had to share one bathroom and due to the loch filled tank, you must leave 15mins between each shower. This wouldn't have stopped me going here, but would have been nice information to have before hand."

"Excellent cottage in a good location for exploring the Gairloch and Torridon area. The accommodation and fittings were perfect for our needs on a walking and exploring holiday. A highlight was the fantastic sunset over the sea to Skye and the Outer Hebrides from the coast nearby. Interesting walks to be had in the vicinity of the cottage (Redpoint, Badachro), good food and drink at the Badachro Inn which is only a couple of miles away. Further afield, shortish car journeys to access the northern end of the Torridon Hills, Gairloch and Inverewe Gardens at Poolewe. The small museum at Gairloch is worth a visit - lots of detail on the development of lighthouse technology in the 19th C, geography and social history of the area. Also Mountain Coffee Shop and Bookshop at Gairloch for a lazy afternoon."
