What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages With Open Fires In Fife To Rent.

"Spotlessly clean. More spacious than it looks. Comfortable (although as restless sleepers we would have preferred / slept better in a king sized bed). Large enclosed garden was perfect for our dog, who thankfully didn't bark when horses went past. It would have been helpful to have a map of the local area with walks marked (there were some notes in the visitors welcome book but it wasn't clear if you could walk on the estate itself). As you leave the private road for which the cottage was gatehouse, turn right and walk for just a few minutes to get to quiet woodland walks opposite and behind the white church. Saw deer, rabbits, hares and what I think were buzzards. Didn't see sheep or cows near the cottage but don't know if animals are moved around the farm. A little unusual to be left a delicious lemon drizzle cake, and flowers from the garden, instead of the usual basics of bread and milk but not complaining! There is a shop in the village close by - a 10-15 min walk. Shower noisy but worked fine, not just a trickle - though water takes a while to drain. Wifi worked too and, thankfully, so did the TV, with just a bit of occasional picture disturbance (critically, nothing to spoil my partner's enjoyment of the World Cup!). We would certainly recommend it and hope to stay here again."

"We've just returned from a week in the cottage, which sleeps up to four in two bedrooms - we were a smaller group of 3 + one dog. We chose this property for the location in a village with good amenities, as well as the secure entrance yard. We also had planned to travel with another couple, who would take the adjoining cottage, so this setting would work really well for a bigger group who wanted to maintain someone privacy or separate space. The village is beautiful and you have two parks, village shop, excellent butchers and two pubs within easy walking of the cottage. With small log burner, lots of space in the cottage lounge and dining spaces and two good sized bedrooms, this was a great choice for us. One long corridor connects all the spaces which gives lots of room for shoes, hanging space for coats. There was a great selection of DVDs fot cosy movie nights in and books to read. The parking space behind the cottage was perfect for us, even though the road nearby is quite quiet.Location is really well connected for travelling the area, visiting the Cairngorms, St Andrews, Pitlochry, Stirling, etc. and regular trains from Cupar (5miles away) mean you can choose not to drive. We’ll definitely be back again - a week wasn't long enough to see everything! :)"

"This bathroom could also really do with having a stand up shower in it. It wasn’tfab in the night to have to go through another bed room and I would have like to have known before hand. But... the sitting room is magnificent - simply glorious and the kitchen incredibly well supplied. The owner is delightful and couldn’t have been more helpful. I was pleased to have stayed there! ----------------------- OWNERS REPLY Thank you for your feedback. It's really helpful to get constructive criticism as we start out on our new venture at 23. I take your point about lack of clarity around the bathroom situation so we will come up with new wording to describe the layout, rather than merely referring to it as an ensuite. Your suggestion about installing a shower in the ensuite bathroom is taken on board also. We will gauge feedback to see if, like you, guests prefer two stand up showers, rather than the shower and bath/shower arrangement currently on place. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay"

"Have previously visited Lower Largo (my father's birthplace - the Selkirk connection). There is plenty to do in Fife and neighbouring counties no matter which direction you decide to go. Cardy House is a delight and very well equipped - even down to home made bread and jam.Simon and Becca have supplied everything that one is ever likely to need. The area is good for cycling, walking and swimming in the Firth of Forth (or in Leven Leisure Centre swimming pool nearby). Eat and drink in the Crusoe pub and The Railway Inn both about a ten minute walk away. There are plenty of small fishing villages in the East Neuk of Fife. The fish and chips in Anstruther or Pittenweem not to be missed. Buy any fresh produce, meat and lots of other products from the farm shops of which there are many. In a nutshell, definitely worth a visit Reversing into the drive is tight and there is a blind spot when leaving but the road outside is quiet so not really a problem."

"S59421 is an old gate house cottage in a quiet location in the Fife countryside, but only a 10 mins walk to the nearest village with shops. We chose it for its location and because they allowed a dog to stay for our 2 week booking. We arrived in wintery conditions, snow on the ground and very cold. Unfortunately the heating was not on, it took 24 hours to warm the old cottage. There was a very nice homemade baked lemon drizzle cake along with bread, tea and coffee to welcome us. The log burning stove in the sitting room was lovely and cosy, with plenty of logs in the outdoor store to burn. The washing machine was very helpful during our 2 week stay, and an iron was provided but no ironing board? We enjoyed walks with Sebastian our standard poodle on the farm area and surrounding woods."
