"If I needed to be in Hale for any reason in the future, I'd definitely stay here again. The owners live very near, and are absolutely lovely people. The house was very clean and tidy, and the garden is large, fully enclosed (great if you have a dog!) and lovely. As far as areas for improvement, I just have a few comments: 1. less perfumed spray throughout the house - it was overpowering - ESPECIALLY on the bed (I think the bedding was sprayed, and it was way too strong for me). 2. The house was lovely and warm, but the master bedroom is quite cold (not surprising for a 300 year old cottage!). I'd recommend having some extra heavy blankets available, rather than just the one, very thin one in the closet. Luckily, I wasn't using the 2nd bedroom, so I was able to use one of the duvets in that room on my bed. 3. Having a cafetiere available for people who like "real coffee" would be great. They're small, cheap, and would be a welcome addition. ;-)Other than those three, minor things, it was a truly lovely cottage and a good experience. Kudos to the owners!"

"We were a family of 8 adults and 2 small dogs that enjoyed an excellent week in S18158 over Christmas. S18158 has a really nice feel to it and was a real "home from home" for the family and was even decorated with a tree and xmas lights. The whole house was very well equipped with anything and everything that you are ever likely to need for a large family gathering. The property was very clean throughout and there was plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. The gardens were very kept very tidy. Well located for dog walking in the nearby Delamere Forest, for shopping in Chester, and the Goshawk pub only 250 yds away was very good. There is an excellent A to Z supplied by the owner which tells you everything about the property and the surrounding area. Would thoroughly recommend S18158 to any family planning to visit the area and hopefully we will return again in the future."

"A really comfy and cosy cottage in a delightful area. Waking to the gorgeous countryside views was absolutely wonderful. This was an early family Christmas break and the Christmas decor and log burner made the break so enjoyable. A really nice pub is fairly close to the cottage and there are great walks. It’s also close enough to visit Chester, plus Cheshire Oaks and we even travelled to Liverpool. The owner Jane was also extremely welcoming. The fittings within the cottage are of high quality and it’s very tastefully decorated. This is a great property for a family, but I’m not sure if it would be ideal for 2 couples even though it easily sleeps 4 people. The upstairs has quite low ceilings for adults and the only bathroom is also the ensuite of the downstairs bedroom. However, that said we will be returning as we loved our stay!"

"We wanted a base to explore Liverpool and do some family cycling (canals). The cottage has an ideal location (a tranquil village close to the airport) for walking and cycling. It is cosy, very well equipped and Julie & Simon were very welcoming (offering to store our bikes securely). Two of us are allergic to dogs so we were a little nervous that this might be a problem as animals are welcome in the cottage, but this was not an issue as the cottage was very clean.Lots of local birdlife/animal life at the cottage and on local walks (ponies of course, wrens, herons, bats, dragonflies, even a seal). It's proximity to the city allowed a blend of quiet village life and busy city action. We would happily return, a week was not long enough."

"We had a lovely family holiday in this wonderful house. The location is perfect very close to the train, the pub and dalamere forest on the doorstep with Chester just a few miles away. A beautiful location, lovely gardens and well equipped house. The rooms are huge and although there were 7 of us there was plenty of room. It really is a home from home. The owners are extremely helpful and genuinely can’t do enough for you. I would love to come back and do more, 3 nights isn’t enough to explore all the things around. I’d highly recommend this house and location, we thoroughly enjoyed it and all commented how lovely everything was. Thank you so much for making us welcome and hope to visit again soon."
