"We stayed at Vue du Canal for a fortnight at the end of June/beginning of July. Overall we had a good holiday and would definitely recommend Aigues-Mortes and the surrounding area but were a little disappointed with the house. For over 20 years we have stayed in many cottages and houses of various styles in both the UK and France and this was one of the most unwelcoming in terms of information (there was none) and extras of any kind. It is on a modern estate - a convenient 15-20 minutes walk into the centre of Aigues-Mortes – but it is off the by-pass and the approach by car is through a small industrial estate – not exactly appealing. The house is in a gated community of terraced houses, nicely designed to look like traditional French houses, the majority of which are second or/and holiday homes. Parking was directly in front of the house; when we stayed there was no one directly either side of us for most of the time. In peak season we imagine parking would become less easy. The online description of the house implies that the shower room is off the landing but is in fact en suite to the largest bedroom (there is another shower over the bath in the other bathroom); strangely, this bedroom has a window in the door (we covered it with newspaper for privacy)! The “electric cooker" was in fact a combination microwave-cooker. There is a Lidl on the industrial estate so the nearest shop is actually a 5 minute walk and not 3km away. The house is not within 1 mile of the coast; it is nearer to 4 miles. There were a lot of extras to be paid in cash on arrival. As we drove to Aigues-Mortes we took our own bedding and towels as that would have been €12/person to hire and there were five of us. Cleaning was €80 and electricity a whopping €7/day – which seemed to include paying for the owners’ boat which was plugged in the whole time. We made sure we used the air conditioning (although sometimes it smelt rather unpleasant in the bedrooms). On a positive note, there was Wifi. This isn't a bad house, it just lacked that "je ne sais quoi"!"

"The house house is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. In a group of eight we all need a spot of solitude at some point and that was easy to accommodate in the spacious grounds. Beds were comfortable, lots of places to dine. However, a few minuses:The first is that a headline price INCLUSIVE of all costs (linen, taxes and cleaning) would be a much more transparent method of charging. These additional fees simply serve to annoy. How COULD you stay in a house for a week with NO bed linen? Charging for Electricity over and above is fair and reasonable and saves unnecessary waste of energy but an accompanied meter reading at the start and finish would be a reassuring move. The kitchen is well equipped but the knives are a disaster. Either bin the lot and buy one set of decent knives or buy an top grade knife sharpener. One tea towel for a week for 8 people was simply ridiculous, were we meant to pay for extra tea towels as well? One (wooden) chopping board was a health risk. A couple of plastic or nylon ones which can go through the dishwasher would be more hygienic. Basics like salt, pepper, wash up liquid, tin foil, cling film, wouldn’t cost much or may even be left by the previous occupants but would make a world of difference on preparing your first meal. These cupboards were bare! Our overall feeling is that with one or two kindly touches this would be a five star hire."

"Although the house was a great size and had a nice pool it was not as near to local amenities which is inferred in the descriptive. Needed a car to go anywhere. The house is a bit threadbare and could do with a freshen up including bedding (which you had to pay extra for! Towels as well????)The nearest town of Beziers is a good 15-20 minute drive away with no local restaurants apart from the nearby golf course restaurant that only did a lunch. This was meant as a relaxing break for our family, which it certainly gave. Just as well the sun was shining and the pool was available. Watch for that as we hadn't noticed as its not normally available until June. They were kind enough to fill it for us. There was no information at all about the local area. A wellcome pack is necessary and don't forget your loo rolls!!!! There was absolutely nothing.Overall I would not return as it is not near a town or even a long walk to the nearest bakers. For the price we paid I would have expected the bedding and towels to be included together with at least one loo roll in every bathroom.Disappointed 😞"

"We had a lovely holiday here in July and the first part of August although it was boiling outside! The house is lovely and cool inside although the back bedrooms do get the sun in the afternoon. The pool and gardens are absolutely lovely at this property. You can just relax and let time drift by .... my children loved seeing the goats pass by the house on the days when they go up to the field up the lane past the house. We followed them back to the goat farm one afternoon when they were coming back down the hill and watched them being milked. It was a lovely experience! This is a rustic location which was exactly what we wanted in order to truly rela . Lovely and would definitely go again."

"An excellent property in a super location. 10 minutes walk to boulangerie, boucherie. 4 good restaurants, decent SPAR and a lock on the Canal du Midi. House is well equipped. US style freezer with ice maker in door and microwave, oven, induction hob and a complete range of utensils etc. etc. Each room has an A/C unit. Large shaded table on patio next to the pool. Finally. a charming helpful, owner"
