"I (stupidly) booked witout reading the reviews for a get-away over NYE with my husband and 2 small dogs. when i checked the reviews before we went i saw lots of comments about the potholes in the drive, the airoplanes and the 'dog rules' so i immaediately accepted this and lowered my expectations. The airoplanes did fly over frequently, however it wasn't too annoying and was expected after having eventually read the reviews. i do think however this should be stated in the description to aviod surprise! and the potholes really can't be helped - just drive slowly! I appreciate the effort made by leaving cake milk and cookies for our arrival, however the cleanlines was disappointing and to be honest ruined the whole expereince for me, the sofas are old and tired and smelly - also covered in dog hair - surprising as one of the 'dog rules' was not to allow pets on the furniture. Also there were so many cobwebs, having a fear of spiders i made my usband hoover everywhere - even behing the side tables and bed in the bedrooms, which are easy to reach but behind the headboard was full of thick cobwebs that can have been cleaned in some time, also hooveringunder the bed found empty drink bottles from previous guests. but it'll all be clean now as this is what we spent our first night doing! After a good spring clean and time to get into ben, upon pulling the covers over dicsovered it was full of pet hair, agin surprising seeing as dogs not allowed upstairs but also smell of do, i tried to lay towels to sleep on which were old worn, torn and stained and turn the pillow case inside out only to discover the inside of the pillow was also covered. After a sleepless night and determined to enjoy our stay we went out shopping on the second day and bought sleeping bags to use. After staying a second night and being almost a sleepless night the planes were really grating on us and we were really irritated with our expereince so decided not to stay the last night and just went home. i do apprciate the effort made for our arrival but the cleanliness was a masive letdown for us, i am a dog owner and we enjoy taking them on holiday with us, but we do not allow them in our bed at home so do not expect to be sleeping with other peoples dog hair / smells. - such a shame as this is a pretty place and could have been so much better with a few simple attention to detail."

"The cottage itself is beautiful. It's bigger than what the pictures portray. You have everything you need dish washer, washing machine etc.. Not the cleanest of places. Plus we were welcomed to the arrival of unwanted guests. Flying ants. Not the owners fault totally appreciate. Called them on arrival to just let them know found ant powder just get on with it. The contact not sure what to do. Not least sorry. There was loads. Each day we were coming back vacuuming ants. Third day in came back late after noon and they came back with a vengeance. Tried to call no response. Texted and got a call back. Again telling me I don't know what to do. Explained it's worse. Again no apologises just best get the maintenance guy out. She was telling me oh not had any problems must of just come. Told her no way had there been no issue before. There was ant powder out side for starters. The maintenance guy was most sorry. He explained that they have had lots of problems with ants this year. Contradicted what I was told. We showed him where they were as they were physically in the living room area. He vacume and sprayed and left the spray with us. No body at the end of the day cab help the ants. I get that totally. I felt the second time I called it was an effort for her. No sorry no follow up call to check that we are ok. The amount we pay to rent out for a week this would go a long way. Such a shame as the overall barn itself was lovely. Little things to improve your stay. No tea and coffee. I left mine behind for the next people. After travelling it's always welcome to have tea and coffee. Nothing at all"

"Perfect if you are looking for a remote location to get away from everything, limited mobile signal and no data connection or wifi. Not a place to come if you aren't travelling with pets as there are pet smells within the cottage and courtyard, but we didn't mind that and felt much more at ease with our dogs than we would have been if the place was immaculate. To reach the cottage you do have to travel up a pot holed, long driveway, but that is due to the rural location, it's only an inconvenience for 2 minutes. It is on a main route from the airport and the planes fly above quite low and loud from early hours to late at night, but didn't really bother us saying that. The woods are lovely nearby and a good place to walk your dogs. We did have a tick issue on returning home though, so it may be wise to protect your pet before you go. The cottage is filled with everything you could need, far more than usual self catering accommodation that I've been to before. Lovely kitchen, complete with dishwasher and washing machine and all cleaning products provided, and a lovely clean bathroom. We had biscuits and tea making groceries provided on arrival and even a bunch of flowers set out on the table for us. We would go back, as we enjoyed our stay, but don't expect the Ritz as it's a place that accepts multiple dogs."

"Very disappointed with this property. Didn't see any reviews when first booked but read some the week before we were going. We thought about cancelling after reading so many bad reviews but hoped it wasn't as bad as suggested. The track leading up to the cottage is full of potholes which meant the bottom of the car kept catching. The cottage and gardens looked run down and in need of some TLC. The owners had left a welcome pack of teabags, milk, cake and flowers and it did smell nice, although later it was realised that it was just a spray of air freshener. Inside was, once again, in need of decorating and cleaning. On going in to use the bath it was noticed that the plughole was clogged with hair. The double bed was comfortable but springs were felt through the mattress of one of the single beds. The cottage was well equipped but felt dirty. It was mentioned that Bristol Airport was 3 miles away which, in fact, was 3 road miles but less than a mile away as the planes flew. You could hear the planes warming up to leave and then they flew straight over the cottage as it is on a flight path. There is meant to be a swimming pool but we never found it or saw anyone to ask where it was. We booked another property and left this one after 2 nights as we couldn't put up with it any longer."

"Unfortunately we found the property so disappointing that we only managed to stay a matter of hours. Despite being warned that the approach road was unmade and uneven we were not prepared for the size, depth, and frequency of potholes that made the journey to the property an absolute nightmare, with grave concerns about the car suspension. Arriving at the parking area there were many abandoned and disused vehicles and no clear signage as to which building was the rental cottage or where to park. The inside of the property was not welcoming as it had a very damp, musty feel/smell. The property did not look clean as the slate floors were stained, spiders and cobwebs were dangling from every ceiling and there were dead spiders and flies behind the television. The furnishings were dated and smelly. Upstairs the smaller bedroom was optimistic to fit 2 adults comfortably and from sitting on the beds they were not comfortable. The noise from the nearby airport was regular and very loud. The aeroplanes were immediately overhead and the property was in the direct flight path. There was also limited and intermittent phone signal and no wifi. We could not recommend this property to anyone and we were very disappointed."
