"Arrived on the Friday, gentleman behind the desk was very nice and attentive. Said the hot tub would be warm by 8pm. got into the villa to find it a little grubby, it hadn't been cleaned to high standard at all, the table was sticky the pots were dirty when we came to use them, and the toilet had urine around the rim. The whole place just needed a deep clean. The hot tub wasn't warm by 8pm, as when we went to check it had been set at 26 degrees no the required 40 degrees so use of the hot tub on the first night was out of question. After we cleaned the villa and got the hot tub temperature sorted there was no further issues, apart from a lack of toilet rolls (only one per toilet) but we requested some more and got some. when we checked out of the villa we raised the issues of cleanliness and the hot tub to be told by a rather rude woman that we were told that the hot tub wouldn't be available on the first night and that it also stated in there lodge guides that this was the case, it didn't state this in the lodge guide at all and in fact reiterated the fact it would be ready by 8pm. Her reply on the state of the cleanliness of the lodge she stated that they were due a referb, which is of little use to use and is no excuse for a dirty lodge, I mean it isn't much to ask for a clean toilet. not a very helpful woman and very defensive even though they were Clearly in the wrong, we didn't ask for a refund or anything and only really got an appology when we were half way out of the door."

"The owners Debby and Jeff, bent over backwards to ensure our stay was pleasant and comfortable. They went the extra mile to include homely touches, such as Christmas decorations and home baking. We spent 2 weeks in S2442 and found the cottage to be in a quiet location, warm, clean, comfortable and well stocked with kitchen accessories, linen and towels. We highly recommend S2442 Cottage for any occasion. It is a much nicer experience than staying in a motel/hotel! Many thanks Debby and Jeff, and Merry Christmas. Kind Regards Margot and MikeOwner could not have been more helpful. Use of owners outside spa pool, very pleasent. Very good facilities in the bungalow. Shared drive with owner. Bakery, pub and shop in the village. Close to Shuttleworth aircraft collection and other historic properties. Beautiful countryside.Owners were very welcoming, made us feel just at home! The apartment was amazing, more than you can expect! Clean, tidy and very accommodating, with all you need, from entertainment facilities to kitchen essentials! The location is quiet, 30 mins bus journey to nearest center in Hitchin, a car is convenient, be warned very tight roads! Local pub and post-office, 2 min walk from apartment, very beautiful and quiet area perfect for a getaway for a couple, wanting a quiet week alone..."

"To say it was small is an understatement. The ride on mower in an adjoining barn had more room than we had in the lounge. The stairs were unbelievably steep and being disabled they were difficult to manage and it took great effort to get our suitcase up to bedroom. The dirt between the floorboards was, for us, unacceptable. The toilet, described as an eco toilet, from caravanning experience, was nothing more than an elaborate Elsan. To describe the experience of using this waterless toilet would put people of their breakfast. Not a place for us and we shall not be returning. The description on the holiday "cottage" was not entirely clear of the above points, and had I been more informed of the place, I would not have booked. The positives were the rather pleasant porch, and sitting out on a nice warm evening. Had there been inclement weather however, it would have been another experience, given the lounge area was so small. We departed the property on Sunday morning after just 15 hours. I'm sure this property is enjoyed by some, reading some reviews, but it's not for us for the reasons given I'm sorry to say."

"The location of this property is why I would recommend it. A two minute walk to the train station & then a very short 15/20 minute journey into central London, makes this a great place to stay on the outskirts, if you want to spend your days sightseeing in London. Winchmore Hill itself has some great dining pubs & restaurants. The cottage itself, although very quaint, isn't very practical as a space to come back to relax in, which is the downside. It feels very formal & is over packed with unnecessary old furniture and knick knacks. It feels more like staying in a B&B or an older Aunts house. The stairs are extremely steep & the kitchen is on the first floor with the bedrooms which makes it difficult to cook anything & then bring it downstairs to eat. There is no DVD player & not enough comfortable sofa's to relax on an evening. The bedrooms don't have proper wardrobes so be prepared to literally live out of your case. Clean & tidy, but not practical for a family."

"S2273 is a lovely rural retreat in the Fens that is very quiet but far from isolated being on the outskirts of a pretty village and close to Cambridge and Ely. The hospitality cannot be faulted with wine and chocolates on arrival and two of the friendliest dogs to greet you.The accommodation is to a high standard with lots of lovely little touches such as DVDs,games and books making it feel very homely. There was a huge folder of useful information about park and ride for example as well as local shops, restaurants and places of interest. WiFi availability was a bonus. The layout feels spacious with the open plan space upstairs and kitchen downstairs and the bathroon, though bijou, works well. It is ideal for a couple and the only downside would be that it is not suitable for people with mobility problems. The kitchen is very well equipped and the washing machine helpful after muddy walks. Our week went all too quickly and we would love to do a return visit."
