"My partner and I enjoyed our stay at S16308 Cottage. It is a traditional stone cottage, adjoining the owners' house and with pretty views forward. Access is by an uneven track (my low-slung sports car had no problems) and parking is above the cottage to the rear. Access to the cottage itself (60 metres) is by steepish steps or potentially slippery grassy slope so possibly not suitable for an elderly person, particularly since the internal stairs are also steep. The garden is pleasantly sunny in the right weather but shared with the owners, who have internal access via a couple of thin wooden doors ("locked"). Noise insulation is therefore poor and the owners' kitchen overlooks the cottage access, again limiting privacy. The cottage is also overlooked from the rear, where the site rises, and the bathroom has no frosted glass, another potential privacy issue. The central heating system is also shared with the owners, tenants having only limited control. The only additional heating is from the solid fuel stove in the sitting room. Wifi is available but insecure and proved intermittent.Decor, furnishings and tableware are pleasantly traditional and in good condition. The oven and microwave work well and appear recent. The bed/s (arranged as a double or singles on request) is/are comfortable and the duvet warm. Some floors are uneven, which might again be a problem for older folk. The rooms are all good sizes, which is not always the case with holiday cottages, and the owners are sensitive regarding their dogs. These are not unduly intrusive and well controlled. The owners welcome tenants with dogs but the cottage does not smell of dogs, another occasional holiday cottage problem. We were welcomed by the owner, shown around the cottage, and invited to ask if there was anything we needed - a pleasant touch these days. There was no 'welcome snack' - scones or whatever - and tenants will need to bring all basic foodstuffs, such as sugar, milk, etc. This part of the Cotswolds is really very interesting and attractive. It is an area which we have regularly driven through but never stayed to appreciate. There is however a great deal to see and enjoy and I would recommend others to do the same. Accepting the limitations of the cottage I would have no hesitation about booking it again."

"Spacious apartment (OK for a family of 4) situated at the top of a steep hill overlooking the Wookey Hole complex. The welcome pack (bottle of wine, biscuits & milk) was a nice surprise. Although the apartment is decorated & dressed with an abundance of ‘Hearts, Love & Musical Note’ ornaments, stencils & wooden blocks, it’s a shame the same attention to detail is lacking in the owners / cleaners ‘Pre-arrival/Changeover Checking Procedure’. In particular the condition & cleanliness of the shower, grouting/ sealant strip, stained dining area carpet, some kitchen equipment and utensils. It was also evident that no-one had recently sorted through the large pile of visitor guides, brochures & magazines in the lounge as they included a 2016 Christmas Gift Guide, a ‘Clear Glaze’ glazing pamphlet, a 2017 Airline Inflight Duty-free catalogue and various visitor guides dating back to 2016.We feel that a more attentive Pre-arrival check would have rectified a lot of these issues.Unfortunately we wouldn't stay here again."

"I really don't want to tell you about The Lodge as we want to keep it a secret for ourselves. It is one of the best of it's type we have stayed in. Clive and Kai have managed to package a top class product. Everything and I mean everything is of the highest standard from the property grounds , furnishings , cleanliness and facilities. You will need to look very hard to find better, I assure you. However, it is not only the grounds and property that are first rate, Clive and Kai are helpful, friendly and strike the perfect balance as proprietors. I hope they are truly proud of what they have. Gail, Lilly ( the tail wagger) and myself just want a quality hideaway and The Lodge suits our needs perfectly. Peace , quiet, stunning accommodation and a cold one. So much so we are returning soon. But it is also ideal for walkers, day trippers and explorers alike.Serene - sums up The Lodge for us.Gail and John - stayed June 2018."

"we had a lovely short stay in S82927 in october. Our hosts were very welcoming and offered us the use of their lovely garden to sit in if we wished. There was wine and chocolate for us on arrival, and some toiletries in the bathroom. The cottage is very cute and quaint with lots of history attached to it. Bed was lovely and comfortable , kitchen is small but fairly well equipped but we didnt intend on doing any cooking ! Huge bonus points are the village shop and the Pub which are literally right across the road . Only slight negatives were the traffic goes right past the door so you do notice that a bit and we did light the log fire but it smoked a bit through the cottage. Other than that it was lovely and a fab base for exploring the area!"

"S82927 is an ideal location for visiting all the area has to offer, Malmesbury, Westonbirt, Slimbridge, and many others. The cottage has a very small kitchen and small bathroom - which is in need of refurbishment. The sitting room is fine for two with a nice open fire. Steep stairs lead to a larger bedroom with open-beamed ceiling, definitely the best room of the cottage. Located on a crossroad, morning and evening traffic can be quite noisy - but we expected that, and crossing to the car-park or the pub needs extra care. The local shop has a few essentials should you be eating at home, though larger supermarkets are not too far away. Overall a nice place to stay, just be aware of it's size, low doorways, steep stairs, and traffic noise."
