"This cottage is situated 4 miles from Bridge end, down a country lane. It is as described a short walk from a pub and Supermarket, which is correct we did visit the supermarket but it was a run down place on a run down council estate and a local pub which we did not go into. the cottage it self is quite big, a on arriving I took a quick walk down stairs which looked okay and then went upstairs, the furniture is quite old but nice and suits the cottage. The bathroom is large with a nice bath but what struck me was the Dust which was gathered on top of the shower head, I wasn't impressed so went on my Cleaning Inspection. the top of the cabinet in the bathroom was thick with dust, as well as Shelves in the bedrooms, I didn't think the mattresses where very good they looked worn but I did sleep okay in them. Downstairs was pretty much the same, clean where you could see but on top of furniture was disgusting so was behind settee and wall and ceiling lights. The kitchen just got worse with dust and dirt, Old coffee in the machine, cooker and Microwave filthy and inside cupboards. Toaster had crumbs on the top of it from previous users and wire grills from Cooker in cupboard covered in grease cleaning was simply not good. you had a long thin lounge with a TV with WIFI which you could not connect to, and a 3 seater settee, leather Low back, leather worn off in places and so uncomfortable myself 55 wife 47 mum 78 all complaining. yet in the bigger room 2 lovely 2 seaters a tv connected to a playstation but no tv channels. We were only there for a 3 nights otherwise I would have been on the phone demanding 2 cleaners in for a day to clean the place or be moved to another cottage. I instead complained with photos as proof and received £100 back. Think this cottage also has some sort of damp problem as it was musky in some rooms, This cottage needs a full deep clean, New Microwave, New Mattreses, WIFI sorting, New settee in tv Lounge, and tv in other room connecting to Sky. I holiday most years in cottages and yes you can always find something to moan about if you have to but this is the first time I have ever had a good reason to complain"

"we enjoyed our stay at the cottage, but not one of the best cottages we have stayed at. a bbq was advertised but when we got there it was bust so as we like to have bbqs and weather was goodish, we ended up buying a one. patio chairs outside didnt seem to have been cleaned since last yr, green and brown but were meant to be white. we had to bleach them to use outside. recycling??? where do i start. the boxes to put it all in were absolutely disgusting, stinking infact then when it was dustbin day we had no idea what we had to do with it all or where to put it. lucky for the nxt door neighbour. the information book seriously needs to be updated as the dustbin calander is for 2010 and the one on the wall 2011(i think). overall we would come back but just due to the fact that we have relatives who live in Aberkenfig so location suited us. I understand it sleeps 8/9 people and it was August but the price we payed dosent reflect on the actually cottage. you dont mind paying almost £1000 if its spotlessly clean and everything works and for the amount of people, you definaltely need anothe toilet.. We managed as there was only 5 of us."

"The weather was okay most of the time, and the location was where we wanted to be, in between Swansea and Cardiff. But the accommodation was not. Damp in bathroom, back and side bedrooms and some parts of the house. Dampness in the bathroom due to the extractor not working and unable to open small window due to a child lock being in place. The damp could be seen in between the tiles and the ceiling. (hate to thing what it is like in the winter). The cleaners had not cleaned the fridge or freezer and the cooker well that was another area that we brought to the owners attention (he was home for some of the time that we were there) he now's that the cooker wants replacing. For nine people to stop there you need another toilet, with 4 grandchildren this was not good enough. We also told the owner that in our opinion he should get someone else to look after his property. Towels were a shade of grey rather than white."

"Very clean and well equipped property. Dog proof garden much appreciated and direct access from a few yards down the road onto the Beacon. Also useful utility / boot room. The Ancient Briton pub is excellent for both food, service and will accept children (and dogs if you book ahead). The Pentre Stables had excellent hacking straight onto the Brecon Beacons on sensible horses / ponies for all standards (www.pentrestables.co.uk). Henrhyd Falls well worth the visit and climb, and Brecon Market is a little tired but a good excuse to visit the town and there are canal boats to hire and good places to eat. The drive is a lovely sight see in itself from the house to Brecon. "

"I have stayed in 5 self catering properties within 5 miles of this property and this is by far the best. Me, my wife and 7 year old daughter had a wonderful stay in this very comfortable house, the lady who let us in was very nice and helpful and the house was well kept and clean. The two rear bedrooms single and double looked out directly onto the hills with fields full of animals and woods. There were 3 local pubs and a small post office within walking distance. There is a lovely river walk and children's playground just at the bottom of the road and plenty to do and see in the local area, fantastic walks and places to explore nearby. Would love to visit again."
