"Had a wonderful stay at the Laurel. Was pleasantly surprised how big the bungalow and outside space was - definitely value for money. The photos don't do it justice. No neighbours. There is a large enclosed garden at the front leading down to the tidal river which my dog loved paddling in, the scenery around is beautiful - rolling mountains. There is a massive paved patio at the back with ample seated furniture and what used to be a stable. My son liked to play badminton at the back as it was so sheltered. It was lovely to eat outside. Lots of crockery, glasses, cups, and knives and forks which is great for the dishwasher. Even supplied lots of dishwasher tablets. Easy to use oven/grill and microwave. Chest freezer is in Utility room outside. Kids were happy as the WiFi worked. Shower was great. Towels were provided and tea towels which was great. The Cottage is very dog friendly, they even provided doggie bowls and towels which I thought was a lovely touch. Even greater to see a washing machine along with a decent washing line and some pegs with washing basket. Alot of time you never get the extras. Lots of walks straight out of your front door which we liked. The walk to beach was less than 10 mins - if you went up the road opposite lead you to Hodbarrow lagoon, lighthouse, ski bar and beach if you walked along main road you came to dunes and walked further you came to a lovely sandy beach very deserted. If you like peace and quiet and don't like the crowds - this is the place for you. Note the beach is part of Duddon Estuary. The ski bar at the local caravan park only does food Thursday - Sunday, Chinese is shut on a Tuesday but Mr Wok's Tai takeaway was tasty. Fish and chip shop was excellent. There is a large Tesco at Millom, post office in Haverigg sells your daily newspaper and there is a Londis corner shop there too ( both 10 mins walk). Would definitely recommend the Laurel and would like to go again. Many thanks."

"Looked nice but main bedroom stank of smoke. The floors were filthy and the general cleaning was poor. None of the wardrobe doors worked. The hairdryer didn't work. The towels stank of chip pan fat. There wasn't a radiator in a bedroom so it was freezing and he had to sleep in the lounge. There were no instructions to work the fire in the lounge and the man from reception tried to be helpful but didn't know either! The toilet was constantly flowing with water and when it got flushed it overflowed all over the bathroom and into the hall. Someone came to fix it but used all the towels trying to clean up the sewage. New towels were brought and placed on the floor where the sewage had been!!! Overall could be a nice place but we wouldn't come back and are very disappointed due to the fact we booked with a reputable company. We only chose to stay 2 of our booked 3 nights!!!"

"Unfortunately our lodge was the only on next to the main carpark and therefore intruded upon with all of the staff coming and going and people using the parks facilities (all of the lodge windows over look this and it also makes using the hot tub with an audience a slightly uncomfortable experience). There was also building work that was going on next to this lodge (literally within 2 foot of our bedrooms) complete with diggers, workmen etc that started work early and continued throughout the day. This lodge shouldn't be used whilst the building work is going on and given its situation next to the main car park should be less than the others on the park - this is the worst positioned one on the entire park - Number 7"

"Difficult to rate S82924. It has high end equipment, (appliances, crockery etc) but this sits juxtaposition with a leaky shower, with a previous leak being visible through water staining, a broken toilet seat and a TV in the lounge that does not have connection to terrestrial channels, if you require the “smart options” then you need your own access to streaming service, which is also effected by the slow and inconsistent broadband ( I appreciate this is due to location but it compound the situation). I also thought that the positioning of S82924 in relation to the others is not made clear enough, the neighbours see right in as they pass to get to their accommodation."

"Second visit here and it’s lovely ticks all boxes, amenities close enough and the river a delight. Perfect for 2 and 2 dogs . We love the area and next time will look to stay more northerly, if only we could pick the cottage up and take it with us. There’s a beach nearby and a nice walk from the door round the lagoon. Only 2 slight gripes it was excessively hot , could be countered by opening windows. The grass needed cutting as it was difficult to effectively clean up after the dogs. I would however recommend the place and another visit cannot be ruled out."
