"We have stayed in many cottages in the country as we go every year . This by far was the worst cottage we have stayed. Only good thing about this cottage was the hot tub and the view from this which was lovely. Apart from this the cottage is in a working farm so expectably it smells constantly of cows and the cottage is always full of flies. We constantly had to keep food and fruits covered due to the amount of flies in the house. We actually felt like we were in a barn.No one can sleep downstairs fur tontoncreaky floor board upstaires. It’s is very very noisy and would wake you up even if they just get out of bed to go to the toilet.Downstairs toilet gets flooded if one would have a shower as there are no shower curtains. All pots and pans are so old nothing can be cooked as the food gets stuck to it. There was only one frying pan which was blackened and old. All the plates and cups were chipped and need replacing. We wanted to have a BBQ as the weather was really nice, however this was so dirty and not cleaned from previous occupants, that we never used it. Owners dogs were very friendly but they were constantly around the cottage and there is dog poo everywhere. I love dogs and we had one of our own, however the owners dogs were all over even inside the cottage if the door is left open even for a short time.the cottage was done very cheaply. To get to the hot tub one have to go outside and go to the back garden so it was inconvenient to carry food even if you want to eat out specially on a nice sunny day. As a result having spent such beautiful days in the cottage we couldn’t sit out and eat. The table and chairs out side were full of bird droppings and not able to sit on anyway. We never spent time in the cottage all day as it was pretty disgusting. The windows all open to the main farm house and the rest of the barn area which was very cluttered and unkept. We have stayed in many farm houses/ cottages/ barn conversions, however none were so bad I am sad to say. The money spent was such a waste."

"We recently spent a long weekend at Colleton Hall. There were 14 in our party ranging from ages 1 to 92 and everyone had a superb time. The accommodation is both elegant and functional. It has all the sophistication of a large Georgian residence with a sweeping staircase and generous room sizes ,but it has been so tastefully renovated that in terms of modern conveniences you could be renting an up market ultra modern house. Unusually for a holiday rental property, no expense has been spared in the renovations. Everything is in good taste, from the tiles throughout the ground floor, to the fittings in the bathrooms and all three kitchens. My 25 year old nephew said having a bath in the main bathroom overlooking the grounds will be a memory that will stay with him for a long time. The rooms are complemented by the carefully chosen art, many beautiful objects and vases of fresh flowers. And then there are the grounds. All I can say is wow. The lake is magical. The young members of the party, as well as taking the canoe out, had a swim in the lake. We took the opportunity of walking through the woods that are also owned by Colleton and just loved the peace and tranquility. Finally, being greeted by the owners of Colleton, Russell and Richard, in such a warm way set the weekend off to a great start. The fact they left the fridges stocked with beers (which I am sure the youngsters in the party used) as well as top class champagne (which we ensured was not touched) shows just how far they will go to try and give their guests a first class experience. We used the chef from DineIndulge for the meal on the Saturday evening and, this too, was a success. I would definitely recommend Colleton to anyone wanting a large, beautiful and sophisticated house in a rural setting. The consensus was that it was the best standard we have ever rented."

"From the moment we stepped through the doors at Colleton Hall, we knew we were very lucky to be staying somewhere so special. It was late autumn and log fires crackled in the huge fireplaces in the large, beautifully-fitted kitchen and the spacious drawing room, making the first impression one of warmth and welcome. The owners, who, surprisingly are not interior designers, have lovingly restored this gem of a small, 'stately home' with incredible flair and attention to authentic detail, whilst including the modern time-saving luxuries we all don't want to live without when on holiday. Each of the six tastefully-decorated bedrooms has its own en-suite bathroom with high-end fittings and a hot water system that ensures no one goes without a decent shower! Outside, there is plenty of parking in the gravel driveway. Beyond the house, a terrace gives way to the gardens which reach down to a lake and out to woods and fields - ideal settings for barbecues, walks and picnics. This is a perfect place for a relaxing holiday - or long weekend - away from the fast pace of city life, but close enough to a good pub, restaurant and amenities - if you can bear to drag yourselves away from the beauty and comfort of the Hall. We loved it so much, we've already booked to go back with our family this Summer."

"We had a perfect time at this lovely house set in rolling countryside. We partied with our friends and family at New Year and I can honestly say that it was one of the best times, such a warm friendly house with charming rooms, plenty of bathrooms, super kitchen(s) and views of the lake and the fields beyond. There are plenty of country walks nearby, ideal for us and all our dogs, we had 5 dogs with us in total and because of the sheer size of the place it really was no problem at all to accommodate us all with our all boots, clothes and belongings. The owners of the property are very genial and welcoming and were on hand next door in case of any issues and for guidance of where to go, they recommended a marvellous little pub in the village nearby. Would definitely recommend for a family get together."

"We had an absolutely lovely weeekend in the Granary. It had everything we needed to enjoy the weekend. Steve and Selena were really friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were happy (even retrieving footballs off the roof!). The converted barn is spacious and well decorated and the upside down layout isn't really an issue. There are two entrances to the garden and hot tub so you can either walk between the main house and the barn via the car park or round the back which is more secluded. There are dogs on the property but they are extremely friendly and well trained so weren't an issue during our stay. We would completely recommend the property for families, couples and friends and will be returning!"
