"On arrival we were surprised that previous reviews had described the cottage as spacious. As a group of 5, we found that the awkward size / shape / layout of the seating area made it difficult to all watch TV together in the evening. Whilst it's nice to have an extra sofa away from the TV for those wanting to read, the seating near the TV only had 2x two-seater sofas and 2x dentist waiting room- The seating area is also the through-route between the kitchen, bathroom, pool room and staircase, so it felt a bit like a corridor at times. I think the cottage would be most suited to a group that wants to spend evening sitting around the large kitchen table, or perhaps two couples who want to go out early hill walking and spend evenings in the pub. Positives: clean; plenty of hot water and the shower was good; corner room bed was comfortable; pool table was great; the north-east facing garden has views over countryside; the wifi was fine; there are a 2/3 really good National Trust properties in the wider area but driving there takes quite a while. There's a steam railway close by. Negatives: the property is right next the A52 so there is 50mph traffic noise from 6am; bathroom radiator is too small for the room which is cold; condensation problems causing puddles in the bathroom and kitchen; bathroom and kitchen floors are freezing, bring your slippers; cooking was challenging at times due to poor quality pans, but the oven was good. Overall, we thought the property was quite expensive for what we got, compared to others we have stayed in, especially as it isn't in the most popular location."

"An exceptional cottage finished to a high standard. However it let itself down on a number of things which are all easily solvable. It had too few outside seats for the number of guests the cottage holds. The cooker’s oven and baking trays were not very clean at all and had to be cleaned before use. The oven discharged black oily smoke the first time we switched it on which was very unpleasant. The oven trays need to be replaced. This would not be an expensive outlay. The oven could also do with a professional deep clean. The food cupboard, holding past guests’ excess food etc held some things that were out of date. These were “binned”. A quick check before occupancy would have avoided this. The kitchen floor whilst looking stunning, was a tripping hazard with several of our guests catching their footwear on the slabs due to low grout. I would suggest that in a kitchen environment with hot liquids etc this was undesirable. The cd rack in the inner hall was a jumbled mess with broken cd cases and cds just dumped. We were told that there would be enough wood for at least one fire. Two or three logs do not In my opinion constitute enough fuel for one fire. However due to good weather we didn’t need to use the log burner. We found the owner and family member on site very friendly and helpful. I hope you find theses comments constructive and useful."

"Got off to a bad start, I booked early to avoid price rises only to have the price reduce by £40 before I paid the final amount 10 weeks out but I was still expected the old amount, I can understand with a few weeks to go but the reduction was 15 weeks in advanced. It was comfy and well equipped, the Sky was a nice touch though it was a shame it was connected to the internet which give a best experience. It was one of the best Studio properties we have stayed at.Real downside was the access to the property, restricted drive, narrow roads and a school meant it was a nightmare trying to get to and from the property we seemed to catch school time every time and the parents didn't seem to have a brain cell between them just blocking the road unnecessarily. It was easier to walk the half mile to the chip shop than get the car out, that how bad it was.The speed cameras that were round every corner got very wearing"

"What an amazing week. We had a fabulous time at S15987. A lovely farm cottage on a working farm. (Despite the dreadful weather, rain or mist most days), we would all choose to stay there again. Great location. Well equipped and maintained. Huge cottage and garden. Beautiful walks on the farm. Terry the owner was very kind and welcoming, he showed us round the farm and we loved seeing how the lambs were growing daily (we stayed in April) 10 min drive to Alton Towers. We also did a day trip to Buxton and Poole Cavern which we all enjoyed. Happiest times were walking on the farm, and in the cottage or garden with our children and the extensive children's toys available within the cottage. The children have all asked if we can return and not visit Alton Towers but spend more time on the farm or in the local area which we were unable to get into much as it was so wet. Thanks so much Terry we hope to stay again."

"We were absolutely delighted with the cottage. Stayed for 4 nights at the end of March with my wife and boys aged 7 and 4. It’s in a quiet rural location with beautiful views. Great location for exploring the Peak District and also only about a 20 minute drive to Alton Towers. It’s also very close to Leek with all its amenities. We found it to be very comfortable and spotlessly clean. It’s furnished to a high standard with a lovely mixture of traditional cottage features with lots of modern aspects such as under floor heating. The bathroom is very nicely done although there are no photos on the website (I would recommend adding one to show how nice it is too). All in all there’s only good things I have to say about the place. Cannot recommend highly enough. Would definitely stay there again!"
