"This cottage is in a beautiful location no doubt about that. But I am sorry to say that the comfort factor is not good at all. The sofa in the living room was very uncomfortable with the casters broke making it uneven. Also after a tiring day out sightseeing you want to be able to relax but with the sofa having a low back that is impossible. Also the two chairs in the room are low backed bucket chairs which are extremely uncomfortable. I think that the dining table and chairs are too big for the room and take up too much room and look out of place. The tv is very small and the tv in the bedroom is neither use nor ornament. Our biggest disappointment however was that the cleanliness was not up to scratch as when we arrived we had to hoover all round the carpet edges in the cottage as we noticed many dead woodlice around the edges. There was seventeen dead woodlice under the tv cabinet and more under the sofa. All in all there was close to a hundred that we hovered up. Also the woodlice were getting in through the badly fitted patio door and we had to go to Dumbarton to buy some woodlice killer. Also the toilet in the main bathroom was leaking slightly and all around the toilet basin was always damp. The curtain next to the wardrobe was closed and when we looked behind it, it looked like the window and frame had not been cleaned for years. I am sorry to have to post these comments and I am sure that the owner who is a really nice man is unaware of these issues as he probably lets his cleaner get on with it and does not check the work. I am sure that the owners would not stay in the cottage themselves for more than one night before making the desired changes."

"There was a freshly made cake and bottle of wine on arrival - very nice and another cake arrived mid week, which was also very nice, thank you. However, there seems to be a lack of communication all round. Cot requested on booking and by phone the day before arrival, but Barbara who greeted us knew nothing about it. There is no information in the file regarding rubbish/recycling and nothing with regard to use of the snooker room/honesty bar which is apparently out of bounds whilst there are 'paying' guests in the dining room. A request at the beginning of the week as to whether the draught beer bar was available for use remained unanswered. Our dinner on the last night was interrupted by the owner with a demand for £50 for two dogs for the week. This information about dog charges was apparently shown on the final confirmation after full payment had been taken by the booking agent, which clearly stated 2 dogs free of charge. The booking agent's website has now been reviewed. Not the friendliest place we have stayed."

"This cottage helped us to make the decision to never rent a holiday cottage again and go back to hotel accommodation in the future. Our first impressions were favourable as it all looks pleasing to the eye, but the beds are unbelievably uncomfortable, which caused us to have to get up at 3 am with aching backs and go lie on the sofas instead. The water is not hot enough for a bath, so only showering is possible, but when the bed has made your back hurt, a hot bath would give some welcome relief. The shower tray I tried using didn't have an anti-slip mat and no shelf for the soap or shampoo and I considered it to be dangerous. The door locks are very difficult to lock and unlock and the back door only opens half way. The crockery has seen better days, with the glazing badly scraped by previous users and we considered the plates unhygienic to use. We went home a day early because we were fed up of feeling uncomfortable and tired through lack of sleep. This cottage was the straw that broke the camels back!"

"Fantastic accommodation and location. Extremely comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. We were aware it was remote with regards to shops so stocked up at a supermarket en route... so local amenities were not an issue. The cottage is in a superb location to visit the local attractions we visited Benmore gardens , Pucks Glen which is just over the road. Ostel bay is a must !!! Secluded beach need to look it up on internet how to access it but very much worth it. Went to Inveraray... then a few miles up the road to Crarae gardens. We went to Tighnabruaich, Otter Ferry . We caught the ferry from Portavadie over to Tarbert which is quite a pretty little town ( didn’t take the car as town walking distance once you got off the ferry , about a half hour crossing ). We stocked up with further groceries from Morrison’s In Dunoon which is about half an hours drive away. So all in all wonderful place and I would have no problem in recommending highland cottage."

"Probably the most beautiful building and incredible location we've stayed in. Perfect for walking the dog, close to beaches and lovely views from the lounge. Lots of lovely touches such as quaint lampshades/cushions etc and bathrooms and bed were very clean. On the downside, it was very cramped with lots of unnecessary extras... Like 144 cookery books in the kitchen... And a very dusty spice rack with some spices dating back to 2007... Also, for practicality, we would have preferred hard floors as we had to vacuum every day because of our very hairy little dog. Would have been easier to keep clean with hard floors. We could actually smell dog when we got there - particularly up the stairs (and dogs aren't allowed upstairs...)Finally, really cheap soap and shower gel seemed out of place in such a lovely place. Perhaps if they had been dispensed into nice containers, we might not have noticed...We did have a lovely, relaxing week there however and would recommend it if these issues were addressed."
