"I was looking forward to going somewhere not to far away but when we got there the staff mainly the manger was talking to me like I just entered the army, ‘do I make myself clear’ ‘do you understand’ in a controlled sturn manner I thought she was going to ask to drop and give her 20 at one point!! the manger wasn’t very nice if I didn’t answer a question quick enough I got ‘well?’ ‘Yes? No? Yes? No?’ ‘You going to answer?’ asked me to fill form out as I was I could hear them slagging about other staff I felt awkward and was embarrassed, the lodge wasn’t the greatest it was all stone floor and was quite cold no rugs or anything and they don’t have the basics eg cheese grater, and others, gardeners are always around you feel like you can’t go in the hot tub in the day because he will jump out of nowhere, a man checks the hot tub daily too but he comes round whenever he want, so no set time so again you can’t really go in the hot tub in the day just in case he hasn’t been round, plus sometimes he check it twice other once a day sooo messed up andfor some reason they empty the hot tub every time someone had been (isn’t that what the chemical are for) so it didn’t heat up for a day so that was wasted that day was. not very happy over all NEVER COMING BACK!!! AND I WOULDNT RECOMMEND IT!!!!"

"Where do I start, I booked this house to meet up with my 4 uni friends, their partners and children. We had a fantastic time. As soon as you enter, the drive up to the house is very impressive and the pictures do not do it justice. The house was massive, plenty of space that you did not feel you were in each other’s way/space. Plenty of seating around the dining table so we could all eat together and plenty of seating in the lounge so the adults could have a drink together while the children were in bed. Kitchen was a great size and well equipped for big groups. The games room was outstanding and such a luxury to have - the men definitely had fun in there playing on the pool table, snooker table, table tennis table and darts board. Because we had children we drove to Markeaton Park on the Saturday which was only 20/25mins away. We found the location perfect, nice and quiet but only a little drive away from shops, pubs and parks. We loved this place that much that we are booking again for next year."

"The overall lodge was clean when we arrived although we had to rewash everything we used to cook or drink with as it was still dirty. We also had no oven cloves or tea towels to be able to cook or clean so we had to return home that evening to collect the basic health and safety equipment to be able to cook. The beds were made upon our arrival and they were very comfortable. The shower was ok but the plug had broken and was starting to fall into the ground which is a little off putting when you want a shower. The hot tub was fantastic and by far the best part of the lodge but the smell of chlorine was very overpowering. We also had 3 days with very little or no water. We understood it was due to a leak in the local village but we were offered no support or additional water to be able to cook or clean with. A little disappointing!"

"The lodge and location are both lovely and make for a perfect weekend getaway. The staff should be more available to assist as they were never in the office or answer the phone and when they did answer they were very patronizing. The hot tub is the selling point but instructions are needed as this was not used properly until the third night after staff got it working. Even maintenance admitted they didn't know how to use it. The hot tub is also not private at all, it was visible to all other lodges and the road through the park. You also have to walk quite a distance to get to the tub from the door. Wouldn't agree with the "luxury" description as the staff were not helpful and visitors were expected to do their own washing. However for a basic trip this was pretty good."

"Beautiful grade 2 listed cottage extremely well maintained, lovely friendly owners. Plenty of good walks, close proximity to cake abbey(well worth a visit. We had little or no phone signal or wifi nothing to do with the owners more to do with our mobile phone service providers, never the less a frustration for an internet Ahocolic like me. The weathers fantastic the gods smiled on us for the whole week. Also there were some good pubs/restaurants as host drive away.Particularly recommend the sir John Thomson for home made meals, carvery every day and puds to die for. all things considered a great week would love to visit again.Forgot to mention pet friendly so able to take our dog on her holidays."
