"Lovely place to stay, cottage very comfortable, everything you need provided and washer and dryer are a godsend. This is a large cottage, the bedroom is a great size and the bed is comfortable, no trouble sleeping; the living room is very comfortable and tv had enough stations to keep us happy at night; the kitchen is marvellous size (huge). There is a large bathroom upstairs with claw foot tub and separate shower, sink and wc, there is also a shower room next to the laundry room downstairs which is very handy. The garden is lovely and we kept the birds well fed with birdseed and bread, we even had a couple of squirrels coming each day. Nice to sit outside during the day with a citronella candle to stop the midges and watch the birds and the sound of the little river flowing over the stones and rocks it is so relaxing. On the negative side there isn't a phone in Forget Me Not, and, as there is no mobile phone signal unless you walk along to the stables, this could prove to be serious in an emergency situation. The kettle should have been replaced as it was past its best, also if you're prone to being bitten by midges, this location could be problematic, there are thousands of the little buggers. We were unable to open the door or windows because of them. Again, on the positive side the location is magical, and so quiet so if you want a place to relax and unwind this cottage is really perfect. There are so many lovely walks on Craigengillan Estate so, if you're a hiker or just like to take a stroll, you will really enjoy the beautiful scenery. Don't miss a visit up to Loch Doon, the coffee at the little roundhouse is great and if you're lucky and go right now you can watch the male and female Ospreys and their three chicks; just amazing to see."

"On first impression when show apartment by caretaker it looked fine. On closer inspection it was not at a suitable level of cleanliness and we were very disappointed. I personally spent time dusting bed side tables, main room window sills and crumbs off sofa.Drinking glasses, mugs and plates all needed cleaning before use, glasses had dry orange juice bits still on them, the fridge had a film of what smelt like smoked salmon over it and two rings of beetroot juice stain that hadn’t been cleaned off.The balcony windows were terribly smeared with finger prints and what looked like a dogs nose marks all over them and the sofas smelt of wet dog. The left hand window in the main room doesn’t open but let’s in so much draft that the curtains blew, the bathroom floor had long hairs on it and the toilet seat is broken underneath.Overall a disappointing apartment to which we would certainly not return.Yes this could have been mentioned to the caretaker but what would they have done? Moved us? The caretaker said she had cleaned the flat so not sure she could have improved it if we had reported it!We chose it for its location as it was near to where I was being interviewed."

"Our 3rd visit to S23469,,this time however we were disappointed in the cleanliness of the kitchen worktops, sink, doors and floors. The Ladies had to do some cleaning before our relaxing weekend could start. Log burner in back lounge hadn't been cleaned out from previous occupant either,,,being a weekend of mild weather we didn't need to use it. Clothes also left in drawer from previous occupant and t-shirt found behind bed in same bedroom. We did contact Alan the owner who said he would sort out a gift voucher for us for local pub as way of compensation,,,sadly he never carried this out and also never bothered to reply to last message we sent him. The 4 couples won't let this put them off and will probably return again next year....as a paying customer it is nice to be acknowledged and sadly we feel our concerns re the cleanliness were not taken seriously on this occasion."

"We have stayed at this property many times having family in the area, but on this occasion we arrived to no key left to get in so had to contact the owner to let us in, whereby we discovered the cleaner had not left the key, on entry we found the cleaning had dropped considerably, there were so many dog hairs on the carpet, I had to clean the filter in the dishwasher due to food and rubbish being lodged inside, all the plates cups ect were dirty and I had to go and purchase dishwasher tablets and reclean everything in the cupboards , and there were only 5 forks in the drawer. Our bedding had stains on and was very creased and there were only 3 towels left for us to use We feel the cleaner is to blame because in the past we were always impressed and happy with this accomodation, so hopefully things will improve in the future but on this occasion I was not happy"

"S23470 has great potential being located next to the River Ayr, is well equipped and spacious but was let down by a poor level of cleanliness , for example the large window in the lounge/dining room overlooking the river was covered in handprints. Another example was the main shower drain being blocked, although this was cleared by the owner's partner on request on the day after arrival. There were also six lights where the bulbs had expired and others where economy bulbs had dimmed to an unacceptable level. Apart from these maintenance issues, instructions on using the television and skybox would have been useful. Information regarding use of the heating system and various appliances would also have helped. Generally we came away with a feeling that little attention was given to customer care as exemplified by a lack of contact by the owner."
