"S83052 cottage is very nice and well equipped and first impressions were excellent. We received a friendly welcome on arrival & welcome pack was much appreciated. Internet and TV were good.Sadly the cottage was let down by 2 things during our stay;1. Flies! (as mentioned by other guests) The owner did mention it when we arrived but we weren't quite prepared for the sheer number of them. There was fly catchers on the ceiling (one of which ended up getting caught in my wife's hair). Any time spent indoors was not enjoyable because we were swatting flies literally every 2 minutes then sweeping up all the dead flies twice a day. 2. The hot tub wasn't very clean when we arrived. It was very cloudy and there was a lot of residue (dead skin and fat I assume) arrange the edges which i wiped away. The water didn't have a reassuring chemical smell either. It looked like it required either a shock clean or emptied and re-filled. The booklet in the cottage mentioned that the hot tub is checked every morning but the condition of the water never appeared any better during our stay. We still used the hot tub but only a couple of times as it was a little off-putting. The booklet also mentions that if guests make the water cloudy then a £50 re-fill fee will be charged so with this in mind I wouldn't expect it to be cloudy when we arrive. We checked the hot tub the morning we were leaving and the water appeared to have been treated for the next guests - there was a strong smell of chemicals which was never the case for us. I assume perhaps it was not treated prior to our arrival, probably just overlooked but it was a bit of a let-down as the hot tub was one of the features of the cottage which we were particularly looking forward to.All in all, we wouldn't recommend this cottage during the summer months (unless something more effective than fly strips & swatters are implemented) but I can imagine that anyone would have an enjoyable stay here any other time of the year. Had it not been for the flies i'm sure we would have had a far more enjoyable experience. The flies were such an issue that it genuinely spoiled our stay, to the point that we wished we had stayed somewhere else. We stayed at a different cottage during the 2nd week of our holidays and had no such issues."

"We had a lovely stay at S21389. I prefer to choose cottages with character and S21389 abundantly fitted this description for me with it's comfortable vintage furniture and beautiful surroundings. My favourite area in the cottage were the chairs by the french windows because you both watch the bird feeders frequented by many little birds, see Red Kites flying overhead, and view the scenery over hills and the town. The cottages consisted of two major rooms downstairs - the kitchen/diner and the lounge. There was also a separate utility area and a downstairs toilet including a shower. Upstairs there was bathroom and four bedrooms - a double bedroom with an ensuite washbasin and toilet, a double bedroom with a washbasin, a single bedroom with a washbasin and another single bedroom (no washbasin). Note you may wish to consider bringing at least 5 towels with you if you want one of each of the washbasins in the house - we hadn't registered that there were so many! Also, there is no hairdryer and I felt the need to buy slippers as my feet were cold - but to be fair the weather wasn't as warm as we would hope for in August. On positive side, this gave us a reason to use the wood burning stove which we enjoyed.Though there is mention of roaming the owner's farm on the cottage details (which the kind owner reaffirmed), the cottage isn't directly on the working part of the farm as we had assumed. I would suggest the location is quieter as a result. Happily you could still see a few animals from the cottage windows which was nice for the children - they were just owned by the people in the nearest house, not the cottage owner. The village is a 15-20 minute walk away and has some convenient and pleasant shops and we found the location convenient for the Elan Valley and an enjoyable drive down to the Brecon Beacons."

"On arrival at the cottage there was no one to welcome us so we had to ask a neighbour who got the owner to tell us key was under log but no one came to welcome us and to let us no how everything worked also there is only a cattle grid at the opening of the cottage so if you take a dog you will have to carry them over it but you would have to be very careful as we were we did find a gate and open it that lead you onto the walk way for the dog but the owner closed it without any explanation !now the worse is FLIES we spent all week swatting them it was disgusting every time we made food you had to be quick to cover it as flies would just land on it the owner must no about this problem as it’s bern reported in previous comments but we were left nothing to tackle it It’s ok saying we’ll all we had to do is ask but If there is a problem then you have to address it we are booking the cottage we are the guests ! There is one local pub and the shop is about 3 miles down the road the other pubs are a good few miles away not a lot to do around the area but there are some nice little towns a good drive away but the FLY problem really spoilt our holiday we left a day early as we just got fed up swatting them I can’t imagine what it would be like in the summer ! The hot tub is nice but we only used it twice this is a true review of our stay and how we felt .The cottage is nice but with the problem with flies just lets it down i think like a couple of The reviews window and door screens are needed very very disappointing stay would never go back"

"S78247 was delightful - comfortable, well heated, nicely decorated, lots of amenities, immaculately clean, surrounded by beautiful countryside, goodies left for us on our arrival and the owners were very helpful, particularly in lending us their hot water bottle escorting us down the snow covered lane to the main road when we left the property. The shower in the master bedroom was very weak, although the shower in the other bathroom was much better. The property is advertised as taking pets and we booked it on that basis. However, on double checking shortly before our holiday re cats and advising the owner that our cat only ever scratches his scratching post and never furniture, we were told by the owner that they do not take cats on the basis of the owner's severe cat allergy. I expressed my disappointment at this but also my understanding as this was due to health grounds, the owner explaining that their own cats are not allowed inside their house. However, it was clearly the policy of the owner not to take cats and not due to allergies as we saw a cat sat in the window of the owner's home on several occasions, at least once whilst they were definitely present in the house, which added to my disappointment about not being able to bring our impeccably well behaved cat. I think the property would be better listed as being 'dog friendly', not 'pet friendly' to avoid disappointment for guests."

"Chosen because my wife would like to live in a barn, S5199 exceeded our expecations by a long way. Imaginatively converted and beautifully furnished the accommodation is well above par. The owners made sure that we were comforatable and offered help should we need it. I must mention the single track road that is access from the a481. Not for the faint hearted. Nor is the final track into the property that needs to be driven with care. That said, the effort is well worthwhile to enjoy a beautiful location. Sadly we visited before summer arrived in 2013 and we had more than our share of rainfall. However that did not stop us getting out and about and we even enjoyed a walk alongside the river Wye on Sunday afternoon in the rain! Every day it was a pleasure to return to the warmth and comfort of S5199. Had we have been much younger and fitter we would have enjoyed the hill walking opportunities surrounding S5199. All in all a good time was had by all. Next visit we hope to find the sunshine! Very happy to add our recommendation."
