"There was a lovely warm welcome with great personal touches from the owners for both us and the dogs (we loved the welsh cakes and coffee , they loved their treats) . We stayed in very warm weather during the World Cup , hubster loved the bigger than expected tv. Free internet if you sign up not bad can be intermittent (2-3mg broadband speed on visit) Kitchen fully equipped ( hubster sad he had to wash the dishes ) and I loved the quality of crockery and glasses . Beds and furniture were comfy , and whilst the lodge is a little aged the decor is well maintained and lovely . Enclosed(ish) veranda meant we could have the doors open to cool down and not worry about the dogs escaping , The site itself is small and residential so fairly quiet ,you will hear a bit of road noise but not significant we slept with the windows open. The village itself has very few amenities, there is a shop and a cafe at the garage but it’s range is not vast , and the ‘local’ is a distance away we didn’t try it , so be prepared to cook dinner , that being said Llandrindod Wells(a short drive) has a Aldi and a Tesco’s which is easily accessible and Rhayader( we drove through almost daily)has an excellent butchers (bobs) and a big co-op and spar . We were not short of activities in the shade and sun , Llandrindod has a lovely little stroll around the lake and also the rock Gardens , Rhayader has a beautiful riverside walk and the elan valley dams , an hour drive to Aberystwyth with all The shenanigans there and 40mins to devils bridge waterfalls . In short we had a wonderful week, was blessed with lovely weather and always felt relaxed when back at the lodge"

"unfortunatley we cut short our holiday and returned home on Thursday .the chalet was very clean and well equipped but so small , not suitable for more than two adults . The twin beds which my husband and I needed were so small we couldn't sleep . 2ft 6inch beds are not suitable for adults plus the fact you couldn't move in the room , couldn't get dressed struggled to get unpacked which we didn't in the end and couldn't close the door properly , also having winter bedding didn't help , we do know you can not do anything about the heat but we couldn't sit outside to eat as the table was so small and only two chairs , we did d appreciate the welcome gifts , and our dogs were allowed but unfortunately the neighbors were not dog friendly. We bought a fan to try to help but not many windows opened in the sitting area , in all we struggled on this holiday , I don't very often say anything but I do think people should be made aware of how small it is and adults not in the twin room ,"

"We have always been impressed with using Sykes cottages. All the cottages we have booked have never been disappointing, they have always been warm and welcoming. As for S39334 I can honestly say this cottage is the best one ever. This is not an exaggeration. The cottage was wonderful. I can't complain about anything... it was clean and cosy with the open fire lit for our arrival. It felt so welcoming. We would sit by the open fire talking about each day we had and how much we would luv to live in this cottage. We went on many enjoyable walks in the area with the dogs, Both Ian and Joan were on hand all the time to share there local knowledge with us. Thank you Sykes and thank you Ian and Joan. It was just what the doctor ordered. Its been best holiday yet...."

"There is absolutely no mention that this property is not suitable for elderly/disabled people. The photos show no sign of the steps needed to access the property. There are 8 whichever way you go. Thankfully the owner was there to help get our luggage to the cottage. So this cottage has been misrepresented. As for sitting on the veranda and looking at the views---you can just see a hill and the church spire; again you have embellished the reality. There was no running hot water in the kitchen; we were told to boil a kettle for washing-up! Two days before we left, the owners went away for a week so the next visitors would have the same problem. Shower temperature was temperamental. 4 Star? no, --a good 3 Star."
