Launceston has an ancient history which can be explored with a trip to Launceston Castle. It’s found atop a hill and offers lovely views. The town itself offers a wealth of independent shops including a butcher, bakers and bookshops. The indoor market on a Friday is just the place to go if you’re after local produce and plants. From Launceston, it’s easy to explore further into Cornwall or take a trip over the border into Devon.

"S20559 is a pretty and comfortable base for a holiday in Cornwall. We weren’t blessed with particularly good weather so the games room (thoughtfully furnished with pool table, table tennis, crabbing equipment, badminton, baseball etc.) was really useful in keeping our children (and the husband!) occupied during wet afternoons. The owners were lovely and welcoming, providing all necessary equipment for our week including thoughtful touches such as oil, teabags, salt and pepper, cleaning materials - even leaving scones, jam, cream and milk ready for our arrival. Some hosts don’t provide anything other than basic cooking equipment so it was a nice touch. They were friendly but unobtrusive during our stay. The location of the cottage itself was lovely; plenty of grounds to walk around and, for guests with children who don’t always want to have to spend ages in the car to find things to do, there are two excellent attractions less than a five minute drive away: Hidden Valley and Trethorne Leisure Park.Despite reading that the place was difficult to find, we followed the written instructions from the owners and found our way -in the dark I might add- with no trouble at all. We would definitely stay again!Oh, and a tip for those who grumble about lack of internet or phone signal - take a dongle!"

"We stayed within the first week of February at S85763 Cottage and were welcomed by the lovely Cathy who ensured that the cottage was warm and welcoming. There was also a bottle of wine and a cream tea awaiting us! Cathy showed us around the cottage and left her contact number in case of any problems. [She also popped round the next day with some eggs laid by her chickens] The cottage itself is lovely and cosy. It was spotlessly clean and had everything you wanted. There is an enclosed garden at the front with a grassed area and decking. It was a little too cold to take advantage of, but I would imagine it would be lovely in the spring/summer. It is well located as it gives you access to a great many locations within a short driving distance. This cottage really is a hidden gem, and fantastic value for money. I would not hesitate in recommending S85763 to anyone."

"Property and contents, furnishings etc. were top quality. Very spacious downstairs. Pool was great, housed in a beautiful purpose-built building with changing room, shower, and toilet. Only thing that needed an upgrade was the equipment in the games room. Darts and ping pong getting a bit tired! Apart from that, this was the best cottage we have rented, and we've been doing it for over 20 years! Certainly the best welcome pack we've had - homemade brownies, bread, and home-produced honey and marmalade. Wow! Would definitely go there again. Cottage is on a farm at the end of a long country lane/track, so a bit of a trek to local shops."

"The cottage far exceeded our expectations considering dogs are allowed, it was totally dog friendly with an enclosed garden(which we think is very important), even the dogs loved it, it was spotless, it was welcoming, it was home from home, the only thing I would ask for is more information on where you can take your dogs for a run off the lead, other than the beaches, maybe local parks or fields. Wayne and Gillian were very friendly and made us feel so welcome, they deserve a big pat on the back. A big thank you to everyone concerned, especially when we had to ask for a change in dates due to having to go into hospital. :)"

"A most enjoyable stay and the dog loved it too with an enclosed garden to play and explore. The garden was wonderful, we spent every dry evening outside. The cottage was very comfortable and large enough for a large family as it sleeps 6. A welcome pack including tea coffee biscuits was a nice surprise. Heating is via a solid fuel burner which you may have to top up every second day but its an easy task. There was a large collection of dvds available as well as wifi internet. Sited in a sleepy village with shops a short drive away. We would go back again given the chance."
