Launceston has an ancient history which can be explored with a trip to Launceston Castle. It’s found atop a hill and offers lovely views. The town itself offers a wealth of independent shops including a butcher, bakers and bookshops. The indoor market on a Friday is just the place to go if you’re after local produce and plants. From Launceston, it’s easy to explore further into Cornwall or take a trip over the border into Devon.

"What an amazing week we had in Cornwall. We stay in cottages regular and 'Skyber' was the best cottage we have stayed in. We were extremely grateful for the Cornish Ground Coffee, Cornish Biscuits, Cornish Teabags, Milk, Bottle of Red Wine and the stunning Hand Tied Fresh Flowers that were left in the cottage for us from the owners. There was everything in the cottage that we required including lovely fluffy white towels and an enormous bed that was so comfortable. We had our 2 teenagers with us and they each had a comfortable bed too with curtains that seperated them off for privacy. There was a fabulous whirlpool bath which was much needed after a long tiring day exploring Cornwall. Everything in the cottage was SPOTLESS clean. Fresh eggs were available to buy every day as was meat from the farm. There was a communal 'utility' where there was a washer, tumble dryer, ironing board, iron and lots of DVD's that could be used.We had our small dog with us and there was even a 'doggie' basket with freshly laundered throws in as well as some treats.EVERYTHING in this cottage has been well thought of. It was like home from home. The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming and very approachable. In Cornwall we visited lots of beautiful places including Padstow, Mousehole, Lands End, Holywell Bay (we can recommend the School of Surf there), The Eden Project (go early to avoid queues) and so much more. The beaches are fabulous for surfing and body boarding which our two kids loved. We visited The Cracking Crab in Polzeath which does amazing Fruits de Mer. Launceston has a lovely little town which has a large Co-Op and various takeaway restaurants, lots of Chinese restaurants as well as Indian's and Fish and Chip restaurants. We would most definitely recommend Skyber and would certainly return to this cottage if we were to visit Cornwall again."

"S20559 is a pretty and comfortable base for a holiday in Cornwall. We weren’t blessed with particularly good weather so the games room (thoughtfully furnished with pool table, table tennis, crabbing equipment, badminton, baseball etc.) was really useful in keeping our children (and the husband!) occupied during wet afternoons. The owners were lovely and welcoming, providing all necessary equipment for our week including thoughtful touches such as oil, teabags, salt and pepper, cleaning materials - even leaving scones, jam, cream and milk ready for our arrival. Some hosts don’t provide anything other than basic cooking equipment so it was a nice touch. They were friendly but unobtrusive during our stay. The location of the cottage itself was lovely; plenty of grounds to walk around and, for guests with children who don’t always want to have to spend ages in the car to find things to do, there are two excellent attractions less than a five minute drive away: Hidden Valley and Trethorne Leisure Park.Despite reading that the place was difficult to find, we followed the written instructions from the owners and found our way -in the dark I might add- with no trouble at all. We would definitely stay again!Oh, and a tip for those who grumble about lack of internet or phone signal - take a dongle!"

"We had a wonderful short break at Skyber, which is the first floor of a beautiful converted barn located in a very tranquil setting and literally five minutes off the A30, which makes access to Cornwall and West Devon so easy. The apartment is airy, very spacious and wonderfully light, with all the amenities expected of a premier property. The hosts were most warm and welcoming, and the complimentary bottle of wine, coffee, tea and biscuits on arrival were an added bonus! The apartment easily caters for a family of four, with a really comfortable large double bed and two singles. The bathroom was well appointed with bath and shower and there was always plenty of hot water. The property was very clean and tidy and there is a wood burner in the middle of the living area, which would make the whole place feel incredibly snug in the winter. Outside there is plenty of parking, a private terrace for sundowners, and various walks across the fields to enjoy. We would definitely stay at Skyber again and I would thoroughly recommend it."

"5 Star. DEFINITELY NOT.The access to this property is via a goat track that is in a disgusting condition long overdue for some major repairs. The kitchen pots and pans need urgent attention.Loose handles on pots no lids and fry pans in unhygienic condition.Long overdue for replacement. The shower was absolutely useless.More chance of a shower standing under a leaky tap.The fridge door could not be shut due to the large amount of ice built up around freezer compartment.Unsatisfactory housekeeping.Fortunately we only had to endure 1 night with guests above us The banging thumping and crashing was not welcome. The noise control was non existent.Had this occurred earlier in our stay we would not have stayed the duration of our booking. The continual barking of the dogs next door was also becoming unacceptable.Could not and would not recommend this property. We had 10 cottages on this stay to the UK and this was by far the worst."

"Kettles On a lovely remote bungalow type cottage. Yvonne the owner was a lovely person who dropped us off to pick up the car when we left it at the nearest pub the previous night. Nearest pub was over 4 miles away. Which if you want a quiet holiday would be ideal. However if you would like a livelier holiday the cottage might be a bit remote. The cottage itseself was a spacious two bedroomed cottage with underfloor heating throughout. It was kept very clean. We arrived and there was high teas (scones, jam And cream) waiting for us and a fresh bowl of fruit. Very nice touch. The cottage had everything required for a good relaxing stay. It was situated centrally for you if you wanted to discover the surrounding Cornish area. We had an excellent stay and seen a lot of the sights you would expect to see and the cottage was a good base for this.."
