Long Melford
Long Melford is a wonderful destination for a cottage holiday. Situated in the Stour Valley, a landscape made famous as the subject of several John Constable paintings, Long Melford is popular with visitors due to its vast number of interesting local shops and historic buildings. Dating back to Tudor times, Long Melford originally made its fortune through the wool trade, the product being exported via Ipswich to continental Europe. That industry may be long gone, but today Long Melford has some lovely art galleries, fashion boutiques and independent restaurants to enjoy on a last minute cottage break.
