Castleton is a stunning town found deep in the Peak District National Park. Peveril Castle, found on the edge of town, has an imposing presence and shouldn’t be missed on any short break here. It is the main reason for Castleton’s existence, created in 1080 and is now cared for by English Heritage. The castle is found via a steep climb from the village and the views are certainly worth the effort.
