"S75606 is a wonderful house which accommodated our extended family of 10 with ease. The snooker table, piano and two tv's kept the younger ones occupied, still leaving quiet corners for reading etc. Bedrooms are really impressive, 4 poster beds a speciality! The garden has great views and provides a pleasant area to sit outside, as long as you don't mind sharing the lawn with the odd visiting sheep!Walks into the wilds of the Peaks can start from the front drive and a whole host of attractions too numerous to mention (see tourist information sites) are within a reasonable drive away. Nearby Buxton or Chapel-en-le-Frith have large supermarkets and loads of eating places. Slightly disappointing was that the woodland adjoining the property is not accessible, too dangerous with hidden drops apparently. The signage from the road is designed to deter anyone entering the lane, 'Footpath only, no vehicles' with no clue that S75606 is at the bottom, caused some of the family to spend some time driving back and forth along the single-tracked road looking for the house. The whole family were so impressed that we are already planning a return visit."

"More attention to detail is needed when cleaning, particularly in the storage area in loft bedroom and the loft bathroom. Bed linen has seen better days. Some kitchen utensils sticky and baking trays definitely seen better days. Table mats sticky and dirty. The grass needed cutting which made it unpleasant to sit in the garden. No welcome pack so beware if you are arriving late. Stairs are very steep and there is no toilet on ground floor. Steps into front door very steep although it is easier to go in the back door. Designated car parking space was apparently repaired on our last day however there is still a dip on driving into it and there are lots of pot holes. You either have to reverse in or out and along a long narrow road. You cannot see the car from the cottage. There is parking on the road however which is a safer bet.Good information packs available about surrounding areas with places to visit, walks, etc.Good base to visit this beautiful part of the country if the cleaning issues are dealt with, in a lovely little village with lots of local amenities and lovely walks."

"Please do not hesitate to book this cottage for your holiday. It was very clean on our arrival, very spacious and we were happy to stay there. The cottage is near to a supermarket and a few minutes further walk to other shops. Try the Millennium Walkway just up the road. If you have small dog then the garden/parking area is not secure, we had to keep our dog on his lead out there as he could have gone through the bottom of the gates. The cottage is on the main road but this did not matter as we were not disturbed by the traffic at all. We were a party of two adults and two children, one a teenager and one nearly a teenager. They loved the fact they had a lounge for themselves. Not clear from the description but the main bedroom has a shower and washbasin, this was a bonus, no toilet but not far to the main bathroom. The wet room downstairs had a toilet and washbasin, this room was large. Thanks to everyone for a great stay. Really recommend this cottage"

"My family and I had a lovely time wandering around the peaks next to S25068 cottage. The cottage was very well equipped and we had a very nice fire in the wood burner on the last day as the weather became cooler. (we brought our own logs and kindling with us to continue the fire as there is a starter set only) We took our dog, a small Springer, with us. I made sure she was always cleaned off before she entered the living room after having been out. There were a lot of steep stairs so I would not recommend anyone to stay in this cottage if they have issues with mobility. Also in the small garden area, it is a tiny yard which is accessible to other households and there are steps leading up to a small grass area with a table. All in all, we had a few wonderful days staying at this cottage, it was quirky and just in the right place for many walks to the peaks, only a few minutes walk to the town of hayfield, pubs and local shops to buy provisions from."

"This is a very nice house - well decorated and equipped and spotlessly clean. It is comfortable, characterful and easy to live in. The neighbours are nice and friendly and the owner was most helpful and obliging. The only slight drawback is the road that the cottage fronts on to, but it is only really busy during rush hour and the double-glazing cuts out most of the noise. Parking is easy and there is a nice safe courtyard at the back. The location is good, with a supermarket near by and plenty of interesting short (and long) local walks. New Mills isn't the prettiest place, but it is very interesting and historic and well-situated for the Peak District, Cheshire plain and with good transport links into Stockport, Manchester and further afield.I would like to stay again and would recommend it."
