Whether you stay here for a week or use your visit as a pit stop before journeying on to the Isle of Skye, there is plenty to appreciate in and around Kyle of Lochalsh. Enjoy a stroll along the waterfront and among the whitewashed buildings. There is a peacefulness to this spot worth savouring. "This is an excellent location if you want peace and quiet and the surrounding countryside is stunning. Access is by way of a single track road which takes you through some spectacular scenery. Parts of the road is rougher than others but is easily negotiated with care. Because of the location make sure you have essentials with you before arriving. The other consideration because of the location is that there is no mobile reception there at all. There is wifi but we found this to be very sporadic and frequently does not work. While this was not a problem for us it means your can be somewhat out of contact with the outside world (can be a bonus of course). Nearest shop is in Balmacara about 7/8 miles away (from the access road end). The house is very well appointed, comfortable and had everything we would have wanted. It is modern and was very clean and easy to keep so even with our 2 dogs. The garden is totally enclosed which again is great for the dogs who also enjoyed their stay. The location is a great starting point for touring the area and a trip over to Skye is a must. The owners are nearby and very pleasant and helpful with any queries. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again. Would recommend."

"I had to speak to the owner to seek out adequate pots and pans for cooking. Those in the cupboard were old and scratched. when i did ask, she initially asked me if i had tried the 'orange pans' These were old also and no fit for use. The flat was clean. The hallway was dark downstairs and a bit depressing, and we were aware of notes in the flat advising us not to do things such as go into the adjacent garden which was private. We were close to a pub and it was noisy at nights at times. However, otherwise it was a good location for Plockton amenities. next time we would find a house with a garden. I have given a 7 for local amenities as there were old leaflets present from a year or so back of what was on in the area. It would have taken no time to put updated versions in the flat. All in all a money spinner for the owner and all a bit tired inside although clean and fresh paint work. Not a lot of passion into the house for rent though we felt. We loved the area a lot and would go back. The weather was also stunning with beautiful gardens and friendly folks in the village."

"1. There was no indication that the house wasn't suitable for people with mobility problems, yet the entrance involved steep downward steps with no handrail. There were also many internal steps. Before my joint replacements, I would not have been able to be left there on my own.2. Ventilation is poor in lounge and kitchen as venetian blinds prevent windows opening.3. Main bedroom ensuite had loose toilet seat, no diffusers on taps resulting in water all over the floor (also true of the kitchen) and a panoramic clear glazed window looking out to the car park.4. The very comfortable, spacious beds (2 singles pushed together) had inadequate bedding - too small for the beds. The huge sofa in the living room had cannibalistic qualities and swallowed users whole. 5. There was no indication that the other adjoining houses we're partially downstairs flats. We didn't realise this until late in the week - our downstairs neighbours weren't so fortunate.6. Generally, this house was expensively, stylishly furnished, but with a complete lack of common sense."

"The cottage has a lovely atmosphere and decor and is very well equipped, especially the kitchen. Good electric shower (over bath). The location is fantastic: down a quiet lane but not too far off the beaten track and being right on the shore and able to walk just a few feet from the door to the water's edge feels really special. Don't miss the gorgeous view from the kitchen window of the castle illuminated at night! We stayed in mid-February and were lucky enough to get sunshine and blue skies nearly every day. We had some cosy evenings in by the log fire but we never figured out how to operate the heating system so the cottage often felt cold - some clearer instructions would be good, if it's possible for visitors to regulate. The sofa in the TV room could do with an upgrade, but the 'rocking' chair with footstool in that room is really comfy and I want one now! Some exterior lighting would be useful at the back of the house to help those arriving in the dark to negotiate the path and steps between the car park space and the house entrance."

"We had the most relaxing holiday ever here the views are amazing. The house is lovely especially the kitchen and bathroom. The sun room is where we spent a great deal of time readi ng or just relaxing and of course eating. The only reason i have marked down on comfort is the t.v. lounge sofa which we found to be v.hard and uncomfortable and the lack of wardrobe space. Neither were a great problem to us as there was just 2 of us but more guests might find it more of a problem. The sun lounge furniture is extremely comfy. Another worthy note is access time to the cottage is 4pm (not a problem) except the village store shuts at 4 so after a 5hour journey after unpacking and wanting to get a meal ready i was unable to buy locally what i needed so we had to take a further jrny down into localsh to the co.op. so just a reminder there .other than that it was just a perfect holiday the perfect house in the perfect location. Cant wait to go back in october. Happy holidays all"
