Whether you stay here for a week or use your visit as a pit stop before journeying on to the Isle of Skye, there is plenty to appreciate in and around Kyle of Lochalsh. Enjoy a stroll along the waterfront and among the whitewashed buildings. There is a peacefulness to this spot worth savouring. If you want to venture further afield you could visit the reputedly gorgeous village of Plockton or perhaps Five Sisters of Kintail, Scotland’s highest waterfall.

"I had to speak to the owner to seek out adequate pots and pans for cooking. Those in the cupboard were old and scratched. when i did ask, she initially asked me if i had tried the 'orange pans' These were old also and no fit for use. The flat was clean. The hallway was dark downstairs and a bit depressing, and we were aware of notes in the flat advising us not to do things such as go into the adjacent garden which was private. We were close to a pub and it was noisy at nights at times. However, otherwise it was a good location for Plockton amenities. next time we would find a house with a garden. I have given a 7 for local amenities as there were old leaflets present from a year or so back of what was on in the area. It would have taken no time to put updated versions in the flat. All in all a money spinner for the owner and all a bit tired inside although clean and fresh paint work. Not a lot of passion into the house for rent though we felt. We loved the area a lot and would go back. The weather was also stunning with beautiful gardens and friendly folks in the village."

"Loch Alsh Cottage is not a cottage but an annex of a larger house. In your picture it looks as if it is a stand alone cottage very misleading. The accommodation was for four adults but both bedrooms had double beds, as we were taking my daughter and my female friend they would have had to share, but as I had phoned the owner and told her she kindly made up a single bed in the dressing room as she called it, and said that they had changed the bedroom upstairs from single beds to a double bed!! in the pictures of the cottage it is a single bed, again very misleading. We were disappointed in the bathroom downstairs as the toilet had not been cleaned and the toilet seat was broken, and the shower was not good. The heating was not working correctly as even after turning the thermostats on the radiators off the heat still came through and the bathroom downstairs stayed hot all the time, the strange thing was the central heating panel was on the off position."

"The most amazing location on the Loch surrounded by mountains and forest. Everything was clean and comfortable but I think for the price you pay S22769 could do with a little updating. Also the Logburner wasnt working when we arrived which was a shame as it was a bit chilly in the evenings and I specifically asked for a rental with a fire - we had to keep topping up the electric meter to use the replacement heater they'd put in temporarily. Fresh flowers and choccies were a nice touch. Dont forget your bug spray - you'll need it! The wildlife here is great - we spent hours just watching all the birds in the garden from the big picture window which makes the most of the views even on a rainy day! Some nice walks and pubs in the area and only 25 mins or so from Kyle and The Isle of Skye crossing. The castle, pony trekking and seal trips only a short drive away so plenty to do and see ."

"Lovely house with amazing loch views, very comfortable beds. It’s not clear when you book that you cannot get to the loch as it looks in the photos. Also the house looks on its own but it is down a steep driveway and the owners are in a caravan opposite. The washing machine would be more useful inside the house not in a shed next to owners caravan. Make sure you bring essentials as the only shops are Coop’s the nearest being 20 mins drive in Kyle of Lochalsh where there is a good fish & chip shop and a cafe. We drove all over and spent a couple of days in Skye which is lovely but again difficult to find any shops and petrol stations that have fuel or even open, so be prepared. Lastly this is the first time in 30 years of holidays that no welcome pack was left even a pint of milk would have been welcome."

"An idyllic and peaceful location with views to die for. A clean modern delightful cottage with every possible amenity. A warm welcome from the owners and a quick but effective guided tour of the property. For us this was perfect. Don't be put off by the long drive down a narrow country lane to the cottage as you very quickly become accustomed to it and it's fun after a while. Only thing to bear in mind is that you do need to stock up on groceries as the nearest shop is about 3 miles away !! Small price to pay for tranquility. Easy access to the Isle of Skye with unbelievably splendid scenery. For those who love the mountains and glens this is the place and you will always get friendly advice from the owners. Superb holiday !!"
