"ery homely and well-equipped house with Microwave, Cooker, fridge, washing machine, TV, DVD player and HiFi. Comfortable lounge ideal for unwinding in the evening. Separate dining room and everything was very well presented. We were only the second people to rent it out, in August 2017 school holidays at approx. £500 a week it represented good value compared to B&B. Good size bedrooms with ample storage, comfortable beds and a VERY QUIET neighborhood leading to a peaceful night's rest. Downstairs there is a bathroom with Good electric shower and on-demand hot water for lots of baths! Nice sheltered garden although we did not use that nor the garage which is also included. Friendly approachable owners should you need to contact them. Lots of useful information provided in the house on local attractions, amenities ets. Note: Horse Riding: I thoroughly recommend Sinderhope Pony Treking Centre. 2.5 hour canter across the moors for experienced riders is awesome , and it is beautiful drive to the stables from Haltwhistle (approx. 30 mins). Location: Despite the quiet location It really is only 5 minutes walk to the supermarket, or the bustling high-street with lots of interesting shops, and literally only a couple of minutes round the corner from a nice park with swings etc for the kids. It is also ideally suited to accessing Hadrian’s wall, and should you want to visit Hexham (nice town with an interesting Cathedral incl Saxon Crypt) or Carlisle. There is a train station in haltwhistle and a good bus service if you prefer not to drive. Cons: The ONLY slight downside with the property is the very Steep driveway which is not suitable for wheel chair users and may pose issues for others with mobility issues. Would we use again? Definitively if visiting this area in the future I would have NO hesitation in doing so, especially outside of school holidays :-) . Summary: It was a lovely relaxing week and a smashing place to come back to at the end of the day"

"We spent a very enjoyable fortnight at the cottage, and found the property to be full of character and tastefully modernised. The setting is beautiful; very peaceful but not isolated, and the cottage is surrounded by attractive countryside. The owner Julie was very friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciated the welcome pack provided that included extras such as wine and chocolates. The use of a washing machine and a large outhouse for bike storage was very helpful, and it was great being able to use the wood burner and control the central heating ourselves. The kitchen appliances were easy to use, and as we were there for 2 weeks it was a bonus to have use of a chest freezer in the outhouse, as well as the freezer compartment within the kitchen fridge. In general the kitchen was well equipped for every day cooking/meal preparation, however in our opinion there were insufficient cups and other crockery items; we gave this feedback directly to the owner and she was happy to take on board for the future. The cottage is ideally located for country walks, and we particularly enjoyed being able to leave the car behind and walk to the village of Castle Carrock or the nearby Gelt Wood. Other places such as Brampton, Lanercost Priory, Birdoswold Roman Fort and Carlisle, were all easily accessible by car, as was Alston. Overall we had a relaxing stay in the cottage and found local people to be very friendly and welcoming - hopefully we will return another time. (A point to note about the layout of the cottage is that the small bedroom can only be accessed via the master bedroom, and they are separated by a single door.)"

"Before we travelled to Haltwhistle the Owners forwarded an E-mail, attaching a comprehensive information pack so that we would enjoy “S82934”. After we arrived in Haltwhistle we received a very warm welcome from the Owners, who had left milk in the fridge and shortbread biscuits to enjoy with tea or coffee. S82934 was well equipped not only with all present-day facilities such as cooker, fridge, washing machine, TV, etc. but also provided everyday items such as bed sheets, towels, soap dispensers, toilet paper, kitchen towels, etc. No need to bring anything! S82934 has a comfortable lounge and a separate dining room and one bedroom with double bed and one bedroom with twin beds and en-suite toilet/washbasin and a bathroom downstairs. There is a nice Garden at the back, a Garage and a somewhat steep drive to park the car! The Owners have left a host of information at S82934 which comes in handy to make best use of the amenities offered in Haltwhistle or to explore the Tourist Attractions in the Area. S82934 is conveniently located as it is in easy walking distance to the Town Centre or Sainsburys Store and it is ideally placed for the many Tourist Attractions that Northumberland has to offer, with Hadrian’s Wall a short travelling distance away. Maureen and Brian, the Owners, live in Haltwhistle and are easy to get hold of if there is a need to do so! We would have no hesitation to return to S82934 or to recommend it to family members or friends."

"We had a lovely new year at S18279. 3 out of the 4 bedrooms are plenty large enough for travel cots and the beds were comfortable. The best area is the kitchen diner, very modern and plenty of room for 8 adults and 3 babies at the table. there's plenty of crockery, pots and pans and utensils. A very well stocked kitchen however only one oven shelf made it very difficult to cook for everyone so the owners could perhaps invest in another shelf to make this a lot easier for large groups to cook meals to enjoy at the cottage. It was great to have the utility area and downstairs toilet plus extra shower. The area was lovely. Very quiet, few nice pubs, cafes and shops. The living room was cosy and nice garden and balconies for use in better weather. The sofas are probably past their shelf life but other than that a nice space. There's a small unloading area outside the cottage but then you have to park your car in the town free car park. Not a major issue unless everyone arrives at once but something to mention as it's not on the spec. All in all we had a lovely time thank you."

"Three of us, plus one dog spent a long weekend at the cottage in February. The cottage is about a five minute walk outside Alston. There is a small parking space right outside the front door for one (smallish) car.As we had two cars between us we had to park on the road. Initially this did not go down well with the neighbours opposite, but we moved further up the road away from the property. The cottage is lovely and cosy with wood burning stove and instant hot water. The second bedroom has limited headroom and a small bath with hand held shower. My friend ended up using the main bedroom en-suite for showering, as that has a standard sized bath and no headroom issues. The second bedroom would be good for children, but is not ideal for adults. There is a great deli in Alston and an Indian takeaway that was very good. Most of the more interesting shops were closed until the spring season. We enjoyed a relaxing time at the cottage, and were delighted by the bottle of wine, water and biscuits (including some for the dog) left for us."
