Holiday Cottages In Kinlochbervie To Rent

This coastal village in the north of Scotland is remote and stunning. With miles of unpopulated countryside to explore and breathtaking sea views, Kinlochbervie is just the place to go if you need a cottage holiday to get away from it all.

What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages In Kinlochbervie To Rent.

- Mr Beck, December 2017 - verified booking

"S80730 was just stunning. The drive there from the NW England was long and in wintry conditions interesting, but definitely worth all the effort, taking us about 9 hours in all. We arrived in day light and were over the moon with the property , it's look and feel were everything that we had hoped for. Our two children were delighted with the big open plan living area and their smart and cosy bedroom. The views from from the house were amazing and we had to take turns at meals to sit with our backs to the view as everyone wanted a view seat. The house was lovely and modern which meant always a good temperature and a great base to come back to each day. Everything about the house seemed well thought out, with a great entrance porch / utility area to get rid of outdoor clothing etc and space to store our rather copious amounts of stuff! The living are was light and spacious with some great sofas ( especially a round one which rotates which was definitely a hit) . Even the kitchen, which can be a bit of an afterthought in some properties, was well designed and had loads of things which we hadn't expected and made cooking easy. Elisabeth and Peter were charming and thoughtful with regular top up supplies of wood and kindling when needed ( the fire was a luxury rather than a necessity, and certainly added that cosy factor). We had some great days out including walking to sandwood bay which was stunning , remote and wild , a couple of days kayaking and walking around loch Laxford where we saw sea otters , a golden eagle and white tailed sea eagle and lots of seals not to mention all of the other bird life . The bay's nearby are just stunning and an easy if somewhat windy walk from the house or a short drive ( oldshoremore ) . We also made use of The Spice Route takeaway service on one night which was brilliant, and just a short drive to collect ( order a day or so before) . The local Spar in Kinlochbervie was well stocked and although we brought most things would have easily catered for anything we needed. The only down side would have been the broadband connection which was slow ( but remember where this house is and you will see why) but serviceable and was more than combatted by a box of DVDs which we had brought with us and a DVDs player which Peter sorted out for us( a big thank you) . Phone reception as you would expect was poor generally, but great if you wanted to throw you phone in the drawer for the week which we did ! Finally a really big thank you to our hosts for an amazing holiday in a stunning place with such a wonderful property. We will be back"

"Make sure you have everything you need food wise as the Spar in the village is well stocked but it is limited and it is a fair drive anywhere else. A welcome pack would have been nice especially due to the location of the cottage. We couldn't find the remote for the DVD on a day when the weather made it too rough to go out, thanks to storm Ali, a small gripe but this means that DVD's have to be watched with the subtitles on. Underfloor heating meant that the cottage was always cosy. The kitchen is well equipped but could we request a large pair of kitchen scissors please be added? There were plenty of towels and the beds were comfortable. The sofa has been changed from the corner one in the photo's it is a recliner and fairly comfortable the arm on one side is torn underneath which will get worse with use. The owners contact details are in their info folder if you need to contact them There are lots of beaches nearby Polin beach is just down the road within walking distance of the cottage, the walk to Sandwood Bay is over rough, undulating ground it is worth it as you may even get to see otters (we did) However, the sand dunes and the hill directly behind them make it rather a slog back, make sure you have good walking shoes take your waterproofs, some water and food, we wouldn't want to do the walk in the summer. This is a well equipped cottage in a beautiful area but be prepared for ALL weathers and lots of driving"

"We really enjoyed this holiday. The house is wonderful and beautifully furnished with amazing views of the mountains all around you and the owners who live next door couldn't have been any more helpful. There are incredible beaches nearby and the nearest, Polin beach is walking distance while the others, including the famous Sandwood Bay are just a short distance away. A fish van stops outside the house on Wednesday mornings selling fantastic fish and seafood. We visited Handa Island where you can see Puffins and thousands of other sea birds nesting on the cliffs. The view back to the mainland as you complete your walk is amazing. I would definitely recommend the Shorehouse seafood restaurant, which is situated right next to the jetty in Tarbet from where you take the boat to the island and also the Old School restaurant, which you pass on the main road on your journey from the house to Handa There is a pony trekking centre within walking distance of the house, which my youngest son really enjoyed. Durness is a short drive away, it has a beautiful beach. You should also visit the Cocoa Mountain chocolate factory situated in the Balnakiel craft village and the fascinating Smoo Cave. Best of all is the scenery. A walk or drive in any direction will take your breath away, the view changing constantly as you go. I would particularly recommend the drive along the coast to Ullapool. We can't wait to visit again next year"
