"Nicely decorated with lovely welcoming touches, but we had a few problems (and injuries) whilst staying here.Tea, coffee, bread, cake and eggs! Great welcome. Cute little dog bed and bowls (too small for our boy, but lovely all the same. Lots of towels (although nowhere to but them once wet, so stayed damp thoughout out stay.Power fluctuations made wifi a bit hit and miss, but there was a good selection of DVDs to use.The double bedroom has the sloping ceiling right over the sleeping area, and despight being only 5'2" I banged my head and injured over my eye. The hood over the oven is also low and my other half cut his head. We had problems parking outside the house, as the corner spots are very tight and once other people were parked, there wasn't room for us, so we parked on the scrub ground just round the corner. Haverigg itself has lots of mud flats and beach to walk on, so great for dogs, but there wasn't a hose or fenced in area at the house to wash down the dog or let him out for a tinkle. Unfornately the local pubs don't allow dogs. There is a small shop and chip shop, but the limited opening hours means its quick run into Millom to get a few bits and bobs or meal out."

"A pleasant well equiped house with magnificent views. But not for anyone with mobility problems as it is situated on 4 floors. We were aware of this on booking but found the stairs quite steep especially those to the basement. We had no problems with parking as we were also able to use the space next door (also a property of the owner) but it is quite tight and access to the main road is sometimes compromised by cars parked too near the exit. Overall the house was well equiped with comfy beds, fluffy towels and a well presented kitchen. I could understand the previous comments about clutter, as there were many nicknacks, ornaments etc, but this did not get in our way although one felt it necessary to take care in some areas. We did not meet the owner but he gave clear instructions on the phone. Overall a pleasant week in a comfortable house with the added bonus of magnificent weather"

"We stayed at The Smith the first week of May 2018. It was better than we expected. a picture perfect cottage with a delightful enclosed garden which was perfect for the dog. Everything you could possibly need for your holiday was provided including a lovely welcome pack (with cake!!!) and biscuits for the dog. The cottage was immaculately presented and there were loads of nice touches. We couldnt fault it. Thank you to the owners. Our only (very minor) observation is that Newton in Furness is very tiny (although lovely) with little of interest to look at. Having said that, it was beautifully quiet without the hoards of people you would find in the more popular Lakeland villages. No problems trying to park the car or enjoy the peace. From that point then it was great for us but might not suit everyone. We wouldnt think twice about going back."

"We enjoyed our stay here and had lovely weather for the whole week. The cottage had everything we needed and it was a thoughtful touch to have tea, coffee and cake waiting for us on arrival with a couple of treats (and food/water bowls) for the dog. She loved the fully enclosed garden - and so did we as the blossom was fully out and beautiful. The Lake District is spectacular - a few miles away and the nearest town, Barrow in Furness, has all the main supermarkets. We visited Walney island which was great to walk with the dog off lead (there were loads which she loved) along the coast path. The Village Inn served reasonably priced bar food and were very friendly. The local store is a couple of miles away in Dalton."

"Boiler service was out of date, was told it would be serviced on second day of our stay, unsure if it was as we weren’t informed or left proof of service, there wasn’t any batteries in the carbon monoxide detector (I had to inform the owner who later fitted them) the smoke detector didn’t work either and a new battery had to be fitted. The mattress, pillows and bedding were all of poor quality, the mattress protector had seen better days and one bed didn’t have a mattress protector at all. Also a lot of the furniture looked tired and had seen better days.In the bathroom the shower head was completely broken and unusable.and The grouting needed renewing."
