What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages In Kendal To Rent.
- Mrs Sherren, September 2016 - verified booking
"The warm welcome at "S3722" by Mrs Shirley Band was much appreciated, showing us over the property and answering our many questions. Our first impressions of the accommodation was that it would suit us admirably, and so it proved to be. Quiet, all-round comfort, including lovely beds (good night's sleep assured). Obviously much thought had been given to the accommodation including all necessary appliances. The location, in order to explore the stunning Lake District area, could not have been better. On most occasions, we drove the short distance to Windermere, where we parked for free all day in a convenient side street, using our Concessionary Travel Bus Passes to explore its many attractive locations - particularly great for the car driver who would have normally missed so much of the areas outstanding panorama. In closing, mustn't forget to mention the Welcome Tray presented at the time of our arrival, including a large scrumptious chocolate cake, a slice a day for each of us, lasting for quite a while. Overall, a memorable holiday in every respect. Should we ever return to the Lake District, if available, "S3722" would be our preferred accommodation. If not, Sykes would be our choice to select a comfortable holiday cottage."

"What a beautiful cottage in a great location, close to all the action of Kendal with great access to lovely walks. We had our two dogs with us & chose the cottage because it is close to a park & dog walk at Sepentine woodland. We didn’t find the double bed very comfortable, the mattress was super soft & we both woke up aching each morning. The sofa & chairs in the lounge are also quite uncomfortable but we also accept we did quite a lot of sitting & everyone’s mattress needs will be different! We would have liked to have had eco friendly cleaning products to use. It was very clean & the kitchen had everything we needed for our weeks stay. At times the traffic was very noisy, there’s no double glazing so we were woken by the bin lorry & delivery vehicals on a couple of occasions. The parking is very congested & due to permits there is no parking outside the front of the cottage. Aside from our negative comments we really did have a lovely stay, the cottage is in a great location to access Kendal & we would recommend it."

"Rear yard cobbles - covered in green moss type plant, table set near bins, empty plant pots and an overgrown tree blocks any sunlight. No way could you relax there. Entry to house grim, needs painting. All woodwork in house badly chipped and grubby, except bathroom. Living room furniture is far too large, leaving at most a 12 inch walkway around it. Worst room is the Kitchen. Huge fridge freezer takes up all space. Dining table and chairs siting is dangerous, being 6 inch’s from the cooker. There is no way that 4 people could be comfortable in this house. You cannot shower without wetting the floor - there’s no curtain. The bath is tiny with no grab rail or hand hold on one side. It’s really difficult to get of! Towels and bedding are well worn and faded. I accept that style is entirely subjective and therefore make no comment. The house was very clean."

"I stayed at Moresdale Barn B&B while walking the Yorkshire Dales Way (the path runs right through the garden). I had lost my adapter for my phone two days before, and had no way to replace it while on the path. The hosts not only lent me one of their adapters but also picked one up for me in Kendall that I could take with me. They also dried all my very wet outer wear. Their consideration still leaves me a bit speechless. The barn is very nice. Rooms are large and nicely furnished, with a large shared bathroom (I think, as I was the only person there that night). The bed was one of the most comfortable I had ever slept in (and that includes beds at expensive boutique hotels). Breakfast was delicious. The hosts will also take one into Kendall for dinner. I can't recommend this place enough."

"Great location just a few minutes walk from the river and centre of Kendal. Round the corner from train station. Lovely little cottage but bit small for a family of 4. Bedrooms are good size but living room/kitchen is a squeeze for more than 2/3 people. Lots of kitchen equipment, utensils etc as well as a washing machine. Smaller fridge would be adequate. Very warm and hardly needed heating/fire on. Little patio area but not secure and my dog ended up next door a few times. Luckily the neighbours were fine. Parking is an issue when arriving/departing carrying cases/bags etc as nothing outside the cottage and had to park a street or 2 away."
