"A return visit as we knew it would suit our needs to be near the city but also at the shore. Cosy and comfortable as expected and we had a good stay with mostly good weather and some lovely sunrises and sunsets. On a positive we found the excellant local playarea ,up the hill behind the church & hall in a former walled garden. Great for playing football with equipment for all ages and watching the planes flying over to airport. The walk up to Cramond bridge and the playarea there was lovely through the autumnal woods. Also got across to Cramond island this time with great views up and down the Forth. A few maintenance and equipment issues such as a window with broken catch that had to be wedged shut to keep personal conversations from cafe below being heard and a cold draught out, loose wall plug sockets, several lightbulbs out, still no glass dishes for cooking in oven or microwave and there was no folder with info on area or appliance instructions. Sofas need a good clean beneath cushions as we found out when looking for a toy. This time we were aware of more night time visits of cars with engines running and early morning dog walkers abusing the no parking on harbour, perhaps the gates need to be shut at corner overnight. The local pub which had a reputation for poor service & food is now shut so we weren't missing out as the bistro below and nearby Cramond Falls cafe are good during day.All in all a good base for exploring with just a few issues that need addressed."

"The cottage itself is neatly and lovingly arranged with such stylish taste, and artfully decorated with bright colors and rustic paintings and pictures, to make you feel like this is a true home away from home! Everything inside the cottage, from the cutlery to the bedrooms, is spotlessly clean and polished, so you should never feel unsure when using any object at all. The garden also, is trimmed and tidy, with a huge green area for kids and older children to play in and enjoy the bright sunshine. In addition, there are toys for outdoor use to help children get active and sporty! This small, but wonderful village of Balgonie is very peaceful and clean and the people here are very friendly! There are breathtaking views all around, and an enormous amount of tourist attractions and locations to keep your family busy outdoors, such as ancient castles and cathedrals, boat rides beneath the famous bridges of Scotland, nature reserves, horse riding along the countryside, safaris, beaches and seasides and many, many more! The owners of this cottage deserve a round of applause and many thanks for all the things they have done to make this holiday the very best! I can assure you, even a five star hotel isn't as luxurious as this wonderful cottage. It has everything you would ever need for a fantastic holiday, and the owners are very kind and welcoming, they really make you feel like you are at home. Thank you very much for everything!"

"Spotlessly clean. More spacious than it looks. Comfortable (although as restless sleepers we would have preferred / slept better in a king sized bed). Large enclosed garden was perfect for our dog, who thankfully didn't bark when horses went past. It would have been helpful to have a map of the local area with walks marked (there were some notes in the visitors welcome book but it wasn't clear if you could walk on the estate itself). As you leave the private road for which the cottage was gatehouse, turn right and walk for just a few minutes to get to quiet woodland walks opposite and behind the white church. Saw deer, rabbits, hares and what I think were buzzards. Didn't see sheep or cows near the cottage but don't know if animals are moved around the farm. A little unusual to be left a delicious lemon drizzle cake, and flowers from the garden, instead of the usual basics of bread and milk but not complaining! There is a shop in the village close by - a 10-15 min walk. Shower noisy but worked fine, not just a trickle - though water takes a while to drain. Wifi worked too and, thankfully, so did the TV, with just a bit of occasional picture disturbance (critically, nothing to spoil my partner's enjoyment of the World Cup!). We would certainly recommend it and hope to stay here again."

"Renovated & extended to a high standard with quality fittings, finishes & furnishings. The extensive garden has a paved patio area with table & seating, summer house with recliners, a children's playhouse with a selection of toys, lawns, plantings & a garden gate that opens directly onto a playing field with children's playpark. The cottage was immaculately clean & a very thoughtful Welcome Pack, with tea & breakfast goodies, was left for us by the owners John & Kathleen. Don't let the street-side location put you off, Balgonie is a quiet wee village bypassed by the main road & you can park your car right outside the door. There is a frequent bus service, with a stop virtually opposite the front door, which will have you at Markinch Train Station within 10 mins & a further 50 mins by train will see you in the center of Edinburgh - hassle free! There is also a lovely bar/restaurant a couple of hundred yards down the road at 43 Main Street, where I had the very best mushroom soup ever! Nearest supermarkets are less than 10 mins away in Glenrothes & there are lots of things to do & see nearby. The Secret Bunker is well worth a visit. I will certainly be recommending this cottage to any friends who are planning a stay in the Edinburgh/Fife area."

"The Cottage is modern ,very clean , great for families and dog friendly too. The beds are very comfortable and bathrooms luxurious. The location is great . A car will make accessing the area easier but if you don’t want to drive getting to Edinburgh and Glasgow by train is easy from Linlithgow train station a couple of miles away. The views from the Cottage are dramatic .Watching the weather come in both sunshine and rain is very atmospheric. All four cottages were booked out during our stay and still lots of privacy and tranquility. Our dog loved the little walk round the farm . It would have been useful to have a little map or sign to show us the way but we worked it out. The layout of the the Cottage is spacious and great care is given to make sure that the cottage is very comfortable and welcoming. This is our second stay at Paddockhall and the cottages are consistently of a high standard."
