Wales is a land of contrasts and character, from tall mountains, amazing national parks and some of Britain’s best beaches to small fishing villages, abandoned mines and lively towns and cities such as Cardiff, Swansea and Abergavenny. Speaking of character, and there are lots of great cottages in Wales, and if you want accommodation with that extra hint of luxury you might opt for a property with a hot tub.

With so much to do, including thousands of miles of hiking trails and cycle routes, by the time you get back to your cottage chances are you’ll be a little worse for wear. Wales holiday cottages with hot tub facilities take the idea of a relaxing getaway to a whole new level. If you’re looking for a romantic little hideaway for a few days the addition of a hot tub can add a touch of magic, just don’t forget to pack the champagne!

What to do on your cottages with hot tub Wales holiday

Wales is a pretty big place, and wherever you choose to stay you’re bound to be within a short drive of some amazing attractions. There are three national parks – Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia and the Pembrokeshire Coast – areas of unspoiled natural beauty ideal for hiking, cycling or a spot birdwatching (keep an eye out for red kites and ospreys).

With around 900 miles of coastline, Wales offers plenty to do by the sea. Many of its beaches are unspoiled, dramatic and popular with seabirds, seals and not to mention holidaymakers, a fine example being Poppit Sands beach, near Cardigan.

And then there’s the towns, cities and villages, from the bustling and cosmopolitan capital Cardiff, to picturesque Mediterranean-inspired oddities like Portmerion, both well worth stopping but for very different reasons!

Wales holiday cottages with hot tub facilities are ideal if you’re looking for something really special, perhaps a little honeymoon hideaway, and want to enjoy the slower pace of life, a few bubbles and plenty of blissful relaxation in the idyllic Welsh surroundings.

"Place was dirty and needed cleaning before anything could be done, cups were filthy, scrap heaters and an old high chair at the side of the property, dog poo all over the rear lawn that had not been mowed in weeks. some wierd outbuilding full of rubbish at the rear. Garden isnt secure if you have that kind of dog.We got there eventually (apalling directions) to find the key left in the door and all the heaters off, place was freezing and no instructions for use, literally nothing at all. No WiFi despite constantly complaining about it. The shower drain blocked on the 2nd day, flooding the bathroom and nearly the bedroom. nothing was done despite reporting it numerous times. Fortunately I'm a plumber so I sorted it, clogged with everything you can put down a drain. vile. I could however do nothing to help the moving toilet, I could have walked out with it, it's that loose!! The new heaters are good at keeping you awake with the brightest blue LED glow I've ever seen. Didn't need the lights at night, so bright! Guess how I slept...... and the old one has 0 instructions and a mind of its own.By far the most concerning part has to do with the safety equipment in the property. It is there to keep you safe if the worst should happen and is a legal requirement. The fire blanket looks like it's been used and folded back up and stuffed into its box, then turned upside down to ensure it stays put. Then there's the the in case of fire poster, obscured by tat and not visable. But by far the best is the fire extinguisher, its not been checked in 20 years and has zero pressure in it. if anything happened youd lose everything and have no insurance coverage. (All of the above I have photographic evidence of this as I literally couldn't make any of this up.)On the plus side the hot tub was a very welcome (and clean) addition.Local amenities are good, having a morrisons nearby and tesco and M&S food close also, so whatever food you want is close at hand. Not that you can cook in the kitchen, there's more prep space on a playing card. Ready meals only kind of kitchen in reality. Ive stayed in smaller places with better designed kitchens. The place was origanlly designed to be wheelchair friendly, then that builder got fired, as the place has a walk in shower, lower lightswitches and ramps but nothing else is geared to this end. its a strange place indeed - the kitchen units are normal height, the furniture is positioned to be completly in the way and the washing machine / dryer are inaccessable to normal humans. The hot tub was really the only saving grace, it did make a big difference to what could have only been as awful place.Booked on a credit card, Thank God. Now ive finally recovered (slept) ill be seeking advice."

"Mid February 2018: As a young couple (21&23) we really enjoyed our stay in the apartment with our dog. The caretaker is lovely and so helpful, he comes to check the hot tub for you every morning and puts in cleaning solutions. I would ignore any complaints in reviews because it is honestly lovely accommodation. We stayed on the ground floor which we preferred as the first floor had steep steps and no gate at the top of the steps for pets and children. The decking is still raised and far from the ground below. Also being on the ground floor means you have upstairs' decking over part of your decking and your hot tub so it is protected a little more from any rain (it can drip through the holes). You are able to see all other apartments deckings and hot tubs but we didn't mind as all our neighbours at the time were lovely.I gave a 7 for comfort as the bed was smaller than our normal double sized bed at home and an 8 for local amenities as we were unaware February is one of the two months that are out of season and only the local convenience shop, fish & chip shop, Indian restaurant/takeaway and a pub was open within the town on the sea front. However this was still plenty enough for us. There are a further 4 x beach shops/cafes, 2 x other convenience shops, a diner style restraunt and nearby caravan sites with restaurants and indoor pools that were closed (unsure if you would be able to use these).I would suggest taking some toilet roll as we were given 1 and had to buy more from the shop and a torch as round the back of the property there are no lights when it gets dark for taking any pets out. The apartment has electric radiators in every room which can be turned on and off by a socket switch on the wall - they warm the apartment very quickly so it is never cold. We only had 1 morning of rain and strong wind."

"This beautiful, spacious house oozes quality from the coffee maker to the two jacuzzi baths, posh showers and a new, expensive hot tub. All the books, games and DVDs were also appreciated, as was the food hamper. My husband never sleeps well in a strange bed but slept soundly in the lovely master bed all week. We had two families staying with a range of ages. The two living rooms were perfect, one a child/man den for gaming and film nights with another cosy living room for quieter nights in. The owner is friendly and accommodating, the all round views are stunning, the hot tub is of high quality and still lovely and warm in November !We had an amazing, relaxing time.Just a few minor, constructive thoughts for the future :Although there is masses of information about things to do in the local area and a plethora of user manuals, a handbook for the house would be good to advise on how to use the Aga, jacuzzi baths, jet shower, games machines and hot tub (to prevent any damage etc). It could include the rubbish/recycling guidelines and where to find the local shops, pharmacy, doctor's surgery etc. A compost bin would also be great. A choice of pillows would be good too. The quality down bedding is great but the pillows were too high for the children. A little child-proofing would be great to protect both the children and the owner's numerous breakable possessions.Perhaps a sign at the bottom of the lane would be good (the house is further along the track than the terrace cottages that the sat-nav leads you to). These are minor points though as the owners have clearly put a lot of effort into making our stay comfortable and enjoyable."

"Basic apartment, one double and two bunk beds. Bunk beds only Suitable for children up to about 12 yrs. I would call this luxury in any definition of the word luxury.Lovely balcony with the hot tub, but as the apartment is dog friendly a gate would be useful, especially as there were dogs in most of the 20 apartments.Laminate flooring throughout and the decoration was all magnolia, but not done to a very high standard.Kitchen equipment and crockery was limited and basic, so much so that we did not use the dishwasher it would never be full.Furniture was a sofa, a chair, table and four chairs and a coffee table in lounge dinerDouble bed, wardrobe and two bedside cabinets in master bedroom with bedside lights. Two bunks and a chest of drawers in second bedroom but no lamp. Master bedroom lacked a dressing table. There were no blinds in the bathroom. The bedrooms had blinds but no curtains. The balcony was nice but the one above was also made from decking so rain dripped through and so did water when occcupants above used hot tub. Luckily their dog did not wee on their balcony.Stan the Caretaker was very helpful and came round each morning to attend to the hot tub.BT Broadband was very good and tv worked fine, as did the DVD playerA car is a must as it is a long walk down to Pendine and facilities are geared towards the caravan park and holiday makers."

"Lovely cottage, we chose to stay out of the main town as we took two dogs with a firework fear. Local shops were small and expensive but this is to be expected. Supermarkets within a few miles drive. Close to a few beaches although one is accesed down a very thin single track road. The cottage is clean, well maintained and not lacking in space, the only two negatives we had was the heated floor in the bedroom didn't work although the log burner soon warmed the bedroom up, the furniture could of been comfier but we didn't let it stop us enjoying our stay and it most definitley would not stop us going back again. We had an issue opening the fire door on our second night but when we text the owners they were out within the hour. The garden was a nice size and secure, the fence on the field side between the cottage and the field is only about 4ft but if it was any higher it would ruin the view which is amazing. My brother left 2 hoodies in tbe bedroom when we left and upon realising we messaged the owner and she kindly posted them back to us. Had an amazing time and would absolutely go again we got it for a good price and it ticked all our boxes."
