"The lodge itself with the hot tub was in a lovely setting with the donkeys and alpacas in the field behind and lovely countryside. However, we really didn't feel welcome by the staff member who was on the phone to someone else while checking us in and was not very helpful when we wanted to check out at 8am and told us we would have to wait an hour for him to come in to work. I've never stayed anywhere where you can't check out at any time in the morning before the designated time. In the end he let us drop off the keys- but if you really can't check out early they should tell you. The lodge itself was fine. No DVD player which it was advertised to have (or at least, we couldn't find one). We didn't need one.. But shouldn't be advertised if there isn't one. There was a washing machine and tumble dryer and I thought 'great, I can dry the towels after the hot tub etc as we only had one towel each... But the tumble dryer was full to the brim with damp towels. The dishwasher was also still full of the previous occupants washing up (albeit clean) and there was an open bag of chips in the freezer which I felt probably should have been thrown out. The headboard had come away from the wall in the bedroom which made it look a little unkempt.. But generally the lodge was well presented and tidy. The site itself is still a building site which we didn't know. The noise didn't disturb us but we did have to pass it every day. Furthermore, the site has signs for a 'woodland walk' so we followed this hoping for a little trek but this path literally goes into the woods and stopped so I was a bit disappointed with that. I guess maybe that is still under construction too. So, all in all- lovely lodge but could do with a few changes to just make it top notch and I would have liked to have felt more welcomed. I'm sure when the site is finished it'll be fantastic."

"beautiful lodge could not fault it. only down side was organisation of staff. when we got there no info about how to get into the gates. had to find a number and call to which we got told wait and someone will get you. about 20mins later some came and told us to follow them. She let us into the lodge was very friendly but then failed to leave us a key to our lodge. we had to call up saying we had not key and knowone at recepetion. we got told they would drop one in. not untill day 2 did we get a key. so had no choice but to leave lodge open when we went out. We also was not told how to get in and out of the gates still we called numbe rup again (very rude staff on the end) told us a code. failed to tell us there was a fob we could use.the staff on the end of the phone was very rude to the point where we felt like we couldnt ring again. and ask where our missing key was. Then when we was in bed another staff member just walking in the lodge with 2 other people renting a Lodge saying "ohhh why are you in here, i have these two people in here" which we was very put out by with them just walking in.overall more organisation need to improve and attitude of guy on phone."

"All round this cottage is lovely. It's very cosy, comfortable and has everything you need. The owners live just next door but is still private enough to feel like your the only people up there and are alway happy to help if you need them. Cleanliness is number one for me and I take my dettol everywhere we go but the cottage was spotless so it was nice that I didn't have clean before relaxing. We normally book hotels but since we had a 10 week old baby, I thought a cottage would suite us better and I'm glad I found this little treasure. The cottage is set in the countryside with lots of lovely walks and a village just down the road that has everything u need from pubs, takeaways and shops. And then further afield is the gorgeous city of Chester and If you like a of shopping, there lots of lovely boutiques and also Cheshire oaks outlet village also not far. If you want good food with lovely views and walks and definitely recommend The Pheasant Inn, Higher Burwardsley which is just up the road from the cottage. We will definitely be booking again in the future, thank you for a lovely stay"

"We found the house to be in a great location and there was lots of space internally. However, some of the rooms smelt of smoke, particularly the games room and middle first floor bedroom and the kitchen surfaces were sticky. The shower rails in the bathrooms were inadequate and the temperature and pressure of the showers themselves fluctuated without altering the temp manually. The fridge freezer, for a house advertised as sleeping 9 people was far too small and the bbq was a joke as it was tiny and didn't appear to have been cleaned at all.The house just seemed a little un-loved which was a shame. There should also be more information regarding neighbours and the fact that the hot tub is on a timer, on the website. We hadn't realised that we would be unable to use it after 9.30pm!I feel that the house was over priced for the level of accommodation offered and for that reason I would not stay again."

"Had a wonderful week at the cottage. Luckily had 6 uninterrupted days of really hot weather and was able to sit out in the garden catching up on some reading. Enjoyed having a glass of Prosecco in the Hot Tub each evening - so peaceful & relaxing. The surrounding countryside is very lush and beautiful and in the field opposite the cottage you can enjoy the company of Ian & Sue’s friendly cows. They currently have 2 cute baby calves and for bunny lovers like me you’ll see them hopping around in the early evening. Ian is a perfect host, very helpful but discreetly unobtrusive. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a home away from home. I’m already booked in again for July! - Jeannie Alsager"
