"I think we must have stayed in different accommodation to everyone else that has reviewed this property. The cottage itself was very nice, hot tub would have been great if we could have used it. Lounge very comfortable for two people but impractical for four of us to sit and watch tv due to the layout. Peaceful it wasn't! We could have coped with the fact that the cottage is slap bang in the middle of a bottling plant with a constant stream of vehicles going past the window but the building work going on was a nightmare! The jcb digger geared up about 7.30 on the Monday morning which wasnt great but then the tipper trucks arrived and any chance of sitting outside was lost. The dust from the sand was everywhere - it covered the hot tub rendering it impossible to use - apparently a damper truck should have arrived to wet the sand but it didn't. On speaking to the owners we were advised that the work was four weeks late happening and had got to be carried out - they did apologise and said they would make sure the work finishing by four oclock each day but that was all they could do. (They did give us some bottled water and a bottle of Highfield gin which was a nice gesture but it didnt alter the fact our break was wrecked!) We booked this break mainly for peace and quiet, as there is so much building work going on in the adjoining roads where we live - our lives are stressful and we just desparately needed to relax and recharge our batteries but the relentless noise and dust basically just ruined it for us. We had to go out during the day to get away from it - the only respite we got from it was when it rained!"

"We have had the most fantastic break in the most beautiful surroundings, from every window the view was stunning and as we wanted to "get away from it all" the setting was perfect. We were lucky with the weather only had rain 1 morning , when we were fishing !!! Rosie and LuLu (the dogs) just loved being able to run in the field and I don't think they are impressed with our garden any more! The lodge was decorated beautifully and we just loved returning after a days fishing. The lake is stunning ,the only observation is it is very difficult to get to with fishing gear(next time can the fishing equipment be taken down by the quad bike please!!!!!!!!) we called it cardiac hill! We ended up going 5 minutes up the road to Springwood fisheries, not as beautiful as your lake but very easy fishing and no walking with gear up cardiac hill!!!! Anyway it didn't spoil it at all, we have been on holidays all over the world to some excellent hotels etc but this break is up there with the best of them. I actually cried when I had to leave!!!!!! Just loved it. Thanks again for your help before and for letting us enjoy your gorgeous retreat in the woods. Miss it already. AP, Hertfordshire"

"Absolutely loved the lodge. The set-up was perfect and it was very clean and cozy. The kitchen was amazingly well-equipped, better than any holiday cottage we have ever rented. Had everything we could possibly have needed. The grounds were brilliant, loved walking the dog and exploring the lake and the Harold Staunton estate. Only niggle was the many flights we could hear taking off and landing at East Midlands airport at all hours of the day and night (only stopped between 3 and 6 am), the first few nights we had difficulty sleeping because of the noise but we did get used to it eventually and we found ear plugs in the cupboard which helped too. It's just the location and nothing can be done about it. We were surprised how loud it actually was, but saying that, we loved Deerpark Lodge so much we would stay again. It was so perfect in every other way, and the woodsy detail was lovely and bets of all, we saw a fox every night right outside! and rabbits quite a bit too :) We loved and appreciated being able to bring our dog so much too."

"On The Plus Side: The cottage is beautiful and sits in an open landscape surrounded by fields. The double bifold doors are a real wow factor! On the Down Side: The reason we went with this cottage and paid the extra money over and above similar cottages was the onsite facilities. Unfortunately the Hot Tub hadn't been cleaned and despite informing the owner that it did not heat up and needing cleaning the issue was not resolved during our stay. We figured a BBQ on the last night would be a great way to finish off our last evening only to find the BBQ was in an even worse state. It had clearly not been checked on change overs and was covered in grease that had started to grow mould. it had clearly been in this state for some time. This could have been a 10/10 if the owner had resolved the issue with the hot tub and the BBQ but unfortunately we received no response from him. Very poor customer service!"

"We stayed at the lodge for a 60th birthday weekend. Upon arrival the lodge was freezing and there was no logs to start a fire and it did state on our email there should be enough logs for our whole stay. The central heating also didn't work. We called the help number and someone came to try to work the heating. Still didnt work ans promised he would be back in the morning with logs as we have brought some by this point. No one turned up. We called again and again. Finally the manager turned up at 5pm with logs but still couldn't get the heating on. Thr heating finally. Came on during the night and turned off in the morning. There was also not adequate kitchen items. Lady bird and fly infestation in the master bedroom. Not very clean as loads of large cobwebs everywhere. Also Netflix didn't work as it said too many people was already using it."
