What our customers are saying about our Big Lodges In Ingestre To Rent.

Natalie - verified booking

"We booked Pingle Barn very much last minute, the family needed a much earned break away after losing a close family member, a much loved Husband, Dad and Grandpa. We saw the barn advertised and thought it could offer us all some time to reflect and get away from it all with the bonus of taking along our beloved dog and we could all be together. The Sat Nav proved tricky at the very end but I had already looked at the area on google maps so I had a rough idea of what pointers we needed to look out for. On first sight I have to admit I was a little dissapointed that there were no boundaries at all for our dog other than the fence to the by pass at the back of the property, any dog who strays would need to be tethered as it could quite easily wander out onto the road side. We entered the property and I was pleased with what we had booked. The attention to detail was lovely with hand soap and hand cream in all the bathrooms, fresh linen and towels nicely presented with little touches like fresh flowers, tissues and air freshners throughout. My eldest daughter, I do have to admit was not at all pleased, she has a fear of spiders and there were so many on arrival that she wanted to head straight back to the car. My husband rehoused them into the garden with strict instructions to stay out for a week. A few returned. We have to have an electronic device which is not expensive installed at home, we too live in the country and this little plug in device deters all kinds of small mammals, rats. mice, squirrels and many spiders in entering by giving off a signal that is unpleasant to them yet it doesn't affect cats or dogs. It would have been useful to have had one there and we have found that other barns we have rented in the past must have experienced the same and installed a deterent for the comfort of their guests. Just a thought. We found the barn to be clean but noticed that one or two pieces of the crockery had been knocked and chipped by previous guests, not too many to cause a problem as there was only myself and my husband, our two daughters and my Mum to cater for and there was certainly enough for our party. We found the bedrooms comfortable although the four poster bed bedroom we had to allow our youngest member, much to her delight as it was very pretty with pink accessories and cushions, we called it the princess room but due to the eaves of the sloping roof it proved a little tricky for us adults as did the ajoining bathroom, getting out of the bath you had to be careful and my yougest knocked her head on the sloping roof over the bath where the velux window was located. My Mum had her own twin room and shared the bathroom with my youngest daughter whilst my eldest had a lovely large twin bedded room and her own shower room, it's what she's used to at home and once over the spider shock she seemed quite at home despite there being no internet. The TV on the odd occassion that we watched it late at night proved to be hit and miss, I don't know if it was poor reception or that the lovely large Toshiba was having a problem as it did flicker horribly at times and was a little annoying when trying to watch the 10 o'clock news. The kitchen was friendly with a large cheery farmhouse style table but I do have to say, the cushions on the chairs were beginning to get a little shabby and I would have thrown them out if they were at my home, I guess I am extremely picky. Some of the glassware was marked by the dishwasher with a faint white bloom and I too wouldn't have given them houseroom, but everything was clean and functional. The area was ideal for visiting Sudbury Hall, although we didn't go as I had googled it proir to our arrival and found that they do not allow dogs in the grounds at all. The Boars Head in Sudbury was extremely enjoyable for dinner, reasonable and not too far to drive to. A large Tesco in Utoxeter just 5 minutes drive away proved very handy for picnic provisions and the necessary bottles of wine required to sip outside the barn on the lovely summer evenings after a long day sight seeing. Trentham gardens was approximately 25 minutes away, very dog friendly and a lovely day out, quite expensive to get in but luckily I had googled offers prior to going and managed to get two for one vouchers which were really helpful. It allowed us to let my daughter go with my husband into the monkey sanctuary, tacked on the side of Trentham, you have to pay extra for this but Mum, my eldest daughter and I were happy just to sit outside the cafe in Trentham Gardens with the dog and drink in all it's beauty and watch the rowing team work out. JCB head quarters proved to be a really lovely place to walk the dog with a huge lake and black swans just located outside Rocester. Alton Towers was a planned visit for my daughters 12th birthday, just 15 minutes away from Pingle barn via Rocester and we gained early access to the park at 9am because we had booked tickets online and at a reduced rate, you need to give at least 7 days notice to get this discount. Ashbourne was much enjoyed by all with some retail therapy at the lovely little shops there and Dovedale with the 3 mile walk along the river into Milldale was thoroughly enjoyed by all, it may have been the delicious hot pasties and ice cold drinks that greeted us at the little shop we found, I think it was called Polly's cottage. A little open window offering a selection of goodies to the weary traveller over the counter and chocolate bars to eat on the way back following the meandering river that opens up at the end for dogs and children alike to paddle in. It was quite a hike there and back but we were all agreed that it was a lovely outing, our youngest just wished we had been more prepared as it seemed to be a very popular place for a dip and she wished we'd have brought her costume and a towel. We'll know for next time if we ever find ourselves in that neck of the woods again. Our last day was spent at Chatsworth House, extremely dog friendly allowing our spaniel full access to the gardens, even to paddle in the beautiful cascading water fall and then to sit under a canopy of tree shelter whilst we were lucky enough to listen to a full orchestera as they were rehearsing for the proms on the Friday we happened to visit. We couldn't quite believe our luck as they belted out their wonderful magical music. On the whole, the holiday has proved to be very successful, a lovely family friendly place but the noise from the bypass was very hard to get used to and kept me awake for the 1st few days. It would have been far nicer without it and would have made sitting out more tranquil but as the lovely lady who owned the barn said in her diary that was so touching to read, it's what brought us their home as the bypass made them have to diversify, thus Pibgle Barn was built."

"We had a lovely time. A few issues on arrival, we had a hot tub with a broken lid. It’s impossible to remove and replace alone, which meant sometimes I had to leave it open which meant it spent most of the time running at about 30-34 degrees which is annoying when your ready to get in at night when the kids are in bed but it hasn’t managed to warm back up yet. I mentioned it to the guy who settled us in and he said ring reception if we needed assistance. However there is no phone signal! At all.Underfloor heating was difficult. We couldn’t dry towels anywhere so ended up sharing most of the time as the room wasn’t warm enough to dry washing and the dryer was absolutely rubbish. The site was great for us, quiet, cut off from the world and a little park to entertain the kids. We walked around a few paths on the site with the kids and there were some nice walks. We visited Alton towers and went into uttoxter for a day. Close enough for a day out in many places. I would return but I would need a new hot tub lid. And the radiators on in bathrooms!"

"We stayed at this location in 2011 and it is still as nice but with little change. The downstairs facilities were used by my elderly mother who has limited mobility. She was very pleased and it would be suitable for other guests who are restricted. The house is really spacious, clean and the welcome basket was appreciated. We understand the owner is waiting for a suitable opportunity to decorate as the paintwork needs a little care. Our only disappointment was the games room. We used a screwdriver to tighten the screws on the cushions of the pool table as they were loose. The football table is unplayable as the footballers are held on with tape and one had half his body detached. Whilst I know new facilities are expensive and certainly not necessary a good solid glue and a little love and tender care could get then back to workable. The games room is a real treat. We had a great stay and despite the above which are easily resolved we would return again(3rd time) for a big family occasion."

"We all enjoyed our weekend stay in the cottage which we found clean, well-equipped and spacious. A personal note from Lorraine and a delicious lemon cake and chilled wine made us feel at home immediately and its’ location made it easily accessible. The boys loved the football table and the many extras provided (books, DVD’s etc). The numerous toilets / en-suite bathrooms were most useful as was a well-stocked kitchen (plenty of crockery & cutlery, an easy to use dishwasher, large freezer & fridge etc). Beds were very comfy and the wood-burner looked good to use in the winter. There were man beauty spots and National Trust properties to visit nearby without reservation. Would highly recommend this property for groups of 7-9 plus children & animals too. A high standard property with many thoughtful details and extras provided (except an hairdryer). June 2011"
