"This was a lovely chalet with a very nice view out over the loch and not one but two quiet balconies. It was well-equipped. The holiday village was actually very nice though initially we felt that we were very close to a lot of other chalets. But the village is peaceful and well organised and the bar and the pool / sauna were v good (pool very empty a lot of the time) and we saw red squirrels. I couldn't fault the equipment etc. in the chalet, it was very well provided for. My only problem was it was that I felt I had been misled as to the size and layout of the property. There is one large room upstairs with four beds giving straight out onto the staircase, which wasn't ideal for our party, and I think the photographs were slightly misleading on the site, giving the impression of four bedrooms and greater space, rather than three bedrooms and not a huge amount of space for the number of people. Hence what I said about value for money. I don't think I would have booked had I actually seen the chalet at that price, but having said that, it really grew on me, and I loved it by the end!"

"Broclach is a lovely chalet and the pictures do not do it justice. There is a great view from the lounge window and terrace and a real sense of space and privacy in beautifully maintained grounds. This was important to us as we do not usually choose to stay on chalet parks. However the facilities were very good and I regularly used the pool and we visited the restaurant twice where the food was of a high standard and as good as the local pubs and hotels we visited.Watching the badgers come out to feed from the nearby woods was a highlight. It was really relaxing to sit and listen to the nearby babbling brook and watch the badgers scuttling across the grass. The chalet was very clean and comfortable and we appreciated the thoughtful touches such as the dishwasher tablets and the kitchen foil. There were also lots of books and DVDs to entertain us.All in all a really great find which we can wholeheartedly recommend."

"The setting was absolutely stunning. However, the accommodation was not up to standard. The lighting was incredibly poor - most bulbs missing, we had to use bedside lamps to light the dining area. There were only 2 very small saucepans to use - not adequate for a family of 6 self catering. All the cutlery was child sized and there were not enough for 6 to share. The oven was still full of oven cleaner so gave off acrid, billowing smoke when switched on. There were 2 doors to the property - one couldn't open from the inside, the other had a broken lock which we had to ask to be repaired during our stay. The property is situated on a lovely chalet village, but we were not allowed to use the swimming pool and sauna on site as we were told the owner had not funded that for her guests. However, we were charged the same rate as other 3 star properties on the site."

"Gorgeous log cabin set in the beautiful countryside of Dumfries & Galloway. The cabin is well equipped with everything that you need for a comfortable self catering holiday. The cabin is extremely clean which is a must for myself and my family. Lemon drizzle cake, tea and coffee sachets and milk were available on arrival which is very thoughtful and endearing. It's a long way to go for food supplies although there is the cost cutter 2 miles down the road towards Dalbeattie. As we booked out of season the price was reasonable plus there was some money off the full price, and re electricity was included in the cost. The veranda on the front of the cabin was a big bonus as we would sit and watch the birds at dawn and dusk. Idyllic and peaceful, ideal if you're looking to get away from it all for a week. Thank you."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Red Squirrel Lodge. There were lovely welcoming touches, including a treat for our dog, Radley. Sandyhills is a perfect base, the beach is a 5 minute walk away and there's a lovely walk around the loch just over the road. We love our walks & there's plenty within easy reach. The forest walks are so peaceful and the views you can get are amazing. We also love the Rockcliffe to Kippford walk along the Jubilee Path (this is only 5 minutes drive from Sandyhills). Every evening the badgers would come right up to the Lodge, we also saw red squirrels and plenty of birds coming to the feeders on the porch. I'd recommend this to anyone who just wants to get away for a relaxing peaceful break. We'll definitely be back!"
