"Nice family cottage on a lovely grassy green site. However, amenities on site were quite basic; swimming pool was ok but not enough chairs around pool area, wifi room ( clubhouse) has a pool table free to use which was good but the room was uninviting and dull. Got the impression this was once used as more of an entertainment centre which is now left unloved, shame if it is because it doesn't get the custom it once had? No one was around to ask if we had any problems, which we did on the Saturday & sunday, we found a notice which said go to reception but there was no reception. I tried calling the number given in booking details but no answer at the weekend. The cottage itself was nicely decorated and has most amenities required, however, on closer inspection it could do with a good deep clean particularly kitchen & bathroom. The worst problem was that on night 1 there was a "horrible" stained grey nylon bottom sheet on the main double bed which I couldn't possibly sleep on and so I slept ontop of the quilt. Luckily next day I found a bag of clean cotton sheets in a cupboard so I replaced the horrid one. I cannot imagine why the grey stained one was ever put on the bed - it was truly vile ! We also found it odd that there was no messages/ literature telling us where the nearest shop was to buy basic supplies or which way the local pub was - usually you find a folder containing such info. We also would have liked to have known about the need to find and use the immersion heater - we found this out as my son had a cold shower. All in all a nice holiday but a few improvements needed."

"We loved the location but found the house not as good as other properties we have visited the house and contents appeared worn and shabby - neither televisions or sound systems worked properly the beds smelt of damp where bedding needed a thorough clean and airing -our mattress cover when removing the bottom sheet was stained not very nice - the cooker was insufficient in size for the amount of people being catered for with one of the tray holders dropping each time something was put on it - the games room was actually not suitable for the title given - everything was sticky to the touch and the kitchen floor needed a jolly good steam clean - perhaps it would be wise to close the house for a while and give it a jolly good deep clean - because it could be just wonderful - dining room red tablecloth mucky and stained - but as a family we loved out time together in Mortehoe and Woolacombe a beautiful beautiful spot and well worth the money if the house was up to standard and when advertising for dogs feel the exit points should be gated - having said all that I am very houseproud and particular on cleanliness.Would use Country Cottages again but not at The Grange."

"Large house that accommodated our party well, but.. It hadn't been maintained well and looked a bit shabby, several of the beds were uncomfortable and one guest had a sore back & neck. Another bed was so creaky it kept occupants awake. We had problems with the washing machine, cooker and dish washer. Due to poor maintenance it wasn't as clean as should have been. The garden was large and had lovely views but was so steep it was difficult for the children to play in - nowhere to ride their scooters etc. Games room was poor I've table tennis table, but no balls. And to cap it all the owner was building a new place in part of the back garden which involved pile drivers digging through the rocky hill! Fortunately they didn't work every day as it was very noisy (the owner didn't give us a small discount for this). The place is up for sale and has obviously been a cash cow for the owner, let's hope the new owner puts some money into the place - it deserves it, the north Devon coast is lovely."

"The location was good- reasonably close to amenities and the site was quiet and the grounds were well kept. The swimming pool was lovely - a decent size and the water was warm. The main issue was the cleanliness of the cottage itself and that it has been poorly maintained. A lot of the kitchen equipment was very dirty and clearly hadn’t been washed in a long time. The sink waste pipe leaked badly into the cabinet below - we tried to contact the owner on the only number given several times but there was no answer. Some of the electrical equipment was in a very poor state of repair and hadn’t been PAT tested. The panel heaters were damaged and there were no storage heaters or central heating. The shower head wouldn’t stay in place so you could not have a proper shower. There were also no instructions for the hot water, etc. The ceilings in the bathroom and kitchen had mould growing. I would recommend Willingcott Valley, but avoid this particular cottage."

"Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, Woolacombe was a real delight, what a gem! The apartment was in an excellent location, literally a 5 minute walk from the beach with local shops/pubs on the doorstep, we didn't use the car all week. The apartment itself is absolutely lovely and very well equipped - the Surfboard was a great touch (although wasn't brave enough to use it - this time!)The only minor points I would say is that the radiators in the bathroom and the main bedroom could use a lick of paint and the courtyard whilst quaint isn't really ideal if you have an active dog - luckily mine is older and it wasn't an issue but would be useful for future guests to know. Having said that there are plenty of places to walk the dog nearby first thing."
