"We had a splendid holiday in a wonderful cottage which seemed a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and yet the M40 is very near and we were able to visit Oxford, Banbury, Bicester Village, Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water and and the Cotswolds Wildlife Park near Burford with ease. This is a huge L-shaped cottage, the original part thatched with a very cottagey, rose strewn brick chocolate box front, a beautiful conservatory and a great barn like sitting room attaching to what must have been stables forming an annexe with bathroom, bedrooms and utility room. Upstairs is the most comfortable massive bed plus a further bedroom and bathroom. So spacious with everything you could want. It felt as if the owner had just moved out for the week and left the place for friends to come and stay as there were lots of personal items on show in the office and small sitting room and a huge amount of books so it felt like home rather than a holiday let. The garden is lovely with a big table if you want to eat outside. Down the road is The Muddy Duck pub. We had a fabulous time and the weather was kind. Radios, DVD player and wall-mounted television made family evenings great fun as there are games scattered around too. A really memorable holiday and most helpful caretaker in Rebecca."

"Disappointing .....We have stayed at many self catering holiday homes, our initial impression was that hospitality was not up to the normal standards. We recommend the owners review their welcoming....A bottle of wine, some local produce, bread, butter and sometimes we have had local jams.We got 2 slices of very tasty cake...good.....a few packets of tea coffee and drinking chocolate. Milk....And a bowl of fruit...that was it.No toiletries ...most unusual....Not a flower in the place....I also considered the tone of what to do before you leave a little condescending Plus I have never stayed anywhere I have had to strip the beds.I recommend our hosts do more homework and go and experience an excellent holiday rental. The paintwork particularly around the Windows needed attention. The entrance porch had not been swept for a long time...neither had the back porch.Apart from that it was fine...."

"My husband and I spent a week here with our two grown-up sons in early September. The number of bedrooms was just right for the four of us and the cottage was comfortable and relatively well equipped, although lacked casserole dishes suitable for use in the oven and the quality of the frying pans was very poor. We tended to have a cooked breakfast in the morning, then we cooked for ourselves again in the evening, because the local pub, which is only a few hundred yards away is very expensive for food and we were on a budget. There is no shop in the village, the nearest Sainsbury's is in Bicester, which you have to drive to. The information booklet about the cottage says that there is a farm shop in the village, but that closed down some time ago, we were informed by a local, so the booklet is not up-to-date. Other than these few minor niggles, everything was great."

"Completely appropriate for our needs as had three older people who were able to take advantage of the downstairs bedrooms and bathroom/toilets whilst my brother and I had our own space upstairs. Fabulous cottage and great local pub which was fully booked for dinner so went to the White Horse in Kings Sutton on the Muddy Ducks recommendation. Amazing taster menu at the Chefs Table. Good value and amazing food which was a great experience for all. The only downside was the lack of local taxi's for 5 people so decided to drive and get a cab back which worked out well in the end as the WH managed to book a cab for all of us. Would've happily gone to the Muddy Duck as it had a great atmosphere with locals enjoying food and drink. Note - need to book early to avoid disappointment. Would definitely recommend the cottage, location and pub if you want to get away from it all."

"'Cottage' is a poor description of this property - the kids called in a mansion! Directions to find the property were clear and easy to follow, even in the dark, which made our holiday start stress-free. The heating was perhaps too efficient and the radiators need some attention so that they could be turned on and off independently - that said, some older properties can be cold and we could not complain that this was the case. The toys provided for the children were a welcome distraction for them and everyone loved the bar billiards table. The play area in the village was also great for the children - they wanted to go every day! We all slept well and appreciated the quality fixtures and fittings that we were surrounded by. A fabulous week, very relaxing and a real shame we had to leave."
