"Firstly the positives- nice location, picturesque village, close to pub, local walks and shops nearby, nice historical building.Negatives- not really suitable for a winter break, really cold, had to keep very noisy boiler on 24/7, did buy wood for the woodburner and had a fire in every night but heat seems to escape out rather than in, lots of condensation with windows being very wet, couldn't open the windows, damp smell, used own towels, not able to park in front of the cottage as its first come first served so had to park in various locations around the village, no garden for our little dog to explore (front door goes straight out onto the not so busy main village road but at times cars do speed around the corner) and no means of communication (no telephone signal, wifi or telephone), it's actually nice not having some form of communication but felt vulnerable should we need to make contact in the event of an emergency. We chose the cottage for its location to Plymouth as I had work there and for this it was perfect and I know my review sounds negative and I believe the cottage would really suit a couple in the summer and I can imagine the village to be a lovely and sociable place at that time, so all in all we had a nice weekend but we have stayed at better places for an equal price."

"Annie’s Cottage is a very well equipped and thought out dwelling. It is ideal for a couple and a small to medium size dog. It is very clean with modern up to date equipment. There is a large modern shower cubicle rather than a bath, which suited us perfectly. The village is very picturesque with a small river running through it. It is tight for large vehicles, but typical for Devon. There are no shops or stores but the village pub, ‘The who’d have thought it’ is a jewel. It’s dog friendly, serves good food and has a selection of beers including guest ales. The staff are very friendly and obliging. The location is ideally suited for exploring Plymouth and the surrounding area, being just on the edge of Dartmore, it’s literally minutes before you are away from the tight Devon roads and onto the slightly wider but open moorland roads. There are also a number of walks from the Cottage, so it is possible to go car free if you wish. All in all an excellent choice."

"This cottage was located in a pretty, secluded village with little traffic and with the sound of the Milton Brook nearby and owls hooting in the trees at night, it was very restful and yet very close to Plymouth and Tavistock, with lovely places to visit nearby including The Garden House and Buckland Abbey. Although there is a good pub in the village, there is no convenience store and we had to go a little way to find a newspaper, but this was only a minor niggle and we found the cottage very comfortable and with its three floors, surprisingly spacious - everything was spotless, easy to use, and clearly labelled - wish we could have stayed longer. The owners were very welcoming and helpful."

"The cottage was everything we needed for the two of us to enjoy a few days walking up on the moor and enjoying local National Trust properties. The bedroom with its delightful high ceiling, overlooks a stream with ducks and some chickens in a nearby garden. The bed is very comfortable and the shower in the generously sized washroom can be set to be powerful. Downstairs the cottage has been tastefully designed to provide everything we needed for our stay.We also enjoyed sitting out on chairs beside the stream at the end of the day..The parking place is very near the cottage and easy to use.Everything was just as we wanted, and we hope we get a chance to return."

"The Smithy is a small cottage but has everything you need for your stay. There are lots of extras provided, thick soft towels, hand and shower gels, there are extra heaters in all the rooms if you need them though the heating was adequate for us, there is even an electric blanket. The kitchen is very well equipped although small. We were greeted by the very friendly owners on arrival, with a cream tea and a huge bowl of flowers from their garden. The cottage is in a very quiet beautiful area, on a lane that leads onto the moor. The owners have a large beautiful garden that they encourage you to use. All in all a lovely warm comfortable cottage."
