"A lovely part of the world: we enjoyed some great walks in Dartmoor, visited Buckland Abbey which is literally right outside the village of Milton Combe, and had a day at the coast at Wembury which is just 40 minutes' drive away. The village itself is very peaceful and set in a deep valley so you really feel like you've got away from it all. The local pub ('Who'd Have Thought It') served stunning food - we went there three nights in a row. Because the village is so small, there isn't a shop in it, but you don't have to drive very far to find one. The cottage was nice and cosy, especially once we had lit the wood fire. Both bedrooms and the bathroom were fine. We didn't cook at all so can't really say much about the kitchen, though the toaster could do with being replaced. Dishwasher and washing machine both worked OK. In a perfect world there would be a garden out the back that the dog could be let into, but that is impossible given the location - the slope behind the row of cottages is almost vertical. Not a major issue, though, as it is easy to walk the dog around the village and there is almost no traffic to worry about."

"I think the location is fantastic especially if you have children - as there were so many varieties of animals and you were allowed to feed them. However the welcome book made me feel uncomfortable - we were staying in her home (no, sorry, her business). Please take your shoes off and do not wear on the carpet in the bedroom. Strip the beds when you leave. I am sure that we would not have had washing up liquid if someone had not left some behind. There was no soap in the bathroom - I would have expected that at the least. Also no dishcloth!! I knew to take towels but there are certain other bare essentials all the other cottages we have stayed in have supplied. She was extremely friendly and welcoming in person but her handbook was not."

"We had a lovely break at Southlake Barn and enjoyed some great local walks with the dogs (2 border collies) whilst staying. The Barn has everything you would want; a welcome pack met us on arrival comprising of local produce, much appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed. As soon as you enter the accommodation the everyday stresses melt away, very welcoming and very cosy with the log fire, the barn is well equipped and everything is very clean and well thought out; we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The decking area is great for sit out and a relax taking in the surroundings with a cuppa or a nice glass of something. We would definitely book again. Thank you, we had a great time."

"The house is located on a busy road. You can hear engine noise day and night and see the headlights at night in the bedroom. In the evening there was often no Internet after 8 pm. Initially, an adapter for electrical appliances with continental European plugs was missing. We did not receive any instruction in the house, e.g. the heating, hot water. A pump caused constantly recurring noise during the day and at night, so it was almost impossible to fall asleep in the bedroom with 2 beds.Even if the house itself is beautiful and well furnished, we would not recommend it to anyone."

"Amelia's corner is part of a quaint group of holiday cottages set in the grounds of a fishery. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, of which you can enjoy whilst sitting on the terrace. Stunning Dartmoor is just a short car ride away. The cottage is very snug and warm. I would have given the comfort a nine but found the bed a bit uncomfortable (a very personal thing).Other than that a perfect getaway and the owner is very friendly and attentive. We had great fun feeding the animals that roam around the grounds. If we found ourselves back in Devon we would certainly go back."
