"The lodge is classed as a luxury lodge but as we approached the lodge the outside appearance was tired and in need of the decking area to be wood treated.Inside the sofa was grubby particularly the arms, which we reported immediately, to be told they knew about it!!!The lampshades in the bedroom were damaged. The bathroom had mould on some of the tiles, near the shower door and on the blind. The extractor hood was loose. The tray in the cupboard was broken, there was no frying pan as on our last day we wanted to do a cooked breakfast. The spa offered a couples massage which we asked about before our arrival but we were told we would have to have it separately as they only had one staff to do it!!!So therefore, a luxury lodge is not an accurate description in our opinion. On the plus side the small supply of essentials and the use of bathrobes, along with the chocolates and wine was a nice touch."

"The accommodation was spotlessly clean on our arrival. Plenty of space, nice to have a dishwasher and tablets. Beds were very comfortable and nice decor. Could do with a couple of hooks in the bathroom to hang towels and more clothes hangers as there were only six hangers for a family of four. There were a couple of broken slats in the fence around the hot tub and the outside of the lodge could do with a fresh coat of paint. We had a problem with our heating not working, the maintenance man was very helpful and came out three times to have a look at it, but it wasn’t until we left that the manager told us about a button to press to turn it on (seems our accommodation was missing a ‘green’ book which had instructions in and the maintenance man wasn’t aware of the button either (he had only been in the job a couple of days). The shower in the ensuite leaked."

"The children and I enjoyed the pool. This was the main reason for staying. We felt it could have been open longer than 6pm.Inside the cottage I was disappointed to see there was no dishwasher and I had to wash all crockery before use. The hob was useless as the dials had no indication if how hot the hob was. I spent a lot of time with them all at different positions moving pans around to cool food. Very frustrating.I noticed that this negative was on a previous review and still nothing has been done. A bit complacent. The bathroom was dirty and needs an upgrade. As there was lots of flies due to the horses in the field, maybe fly screens on the windows as this was another off putting feature.I would not stay again as felt that it was definitely overpriced and not worth the price I paid."

"Fantastic place to stay for our week away with the little guy and rest of the family. The pool added that extra piece of 'holiday' to our stay and was clean and heated. Cooking facilities and utensils were all catered for. Beds were comfy and it was very quiet at night time. Shower was hot every time we used it. The nearby road had minimal traffic and suitable for walking the dog on a lead. Within a mile, there was a public area to let the Dog off the lead to have a good run around. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and they were approachable if we needed anything. Only slight criticism for Peacock Cottage is the second bedroom is a bit tight for space. However, we got used to it after a couple of days. Would stay here again."

"Our family of five stayed at Colliery Lane Lodges for a long bank holiday weekend and it was lovely. The lodges and hot tubs are new and spotless and there's plenty of room, with a brand new and well equipped kitchen, spotless bath and shower rooms, good sized bedrooms and living room, and everything that you need for a relaxing self catering break. The location is peaceful and pleasant, and there's plenty of information provided for nearby shops and restaurants. The staff are really friendly, helpful and welcoming. We will definitely be returning."
