"Arrived at the park and the lady was very nice. Got to our lodge full of excitement. Upon entry we were abit gutted to be honest. The carpet had a huge risen bit in the middle and was ruffled. Trip hazard! The dining table and chairs didn't match and the table was in very poor condition, there were bubbles forming in the top layer and it looked horrible. The fridge was missing the shelf in the door so you couldn't stand any milk or pop in it. There were sweet wrappers being the sofa...the curtains were dirty....the blind in the kitchen area was filthy and broken, my husband actually fixed it. The drain on the sink was full of gunge and debris, it was disgusting! The towels stunk rotten! My daughter pulled out the bedside table to plug her charger in and there was blood stained tissue and a Cornfkake on the floor...I rang reception about the smelly towels and was told they would bring some fresh..no-one came and so I rang again in the morning and a lady brought me some strait away. While she was in the cabin I showed her the blood stained tissue and she discarded it and said" I'm really sorry about that, I will find out who cleaned this cabin" There was dust all behind the TV and I mean lots of it! Dust on the pictures , dust everywhere. The hot tub was overloaded with chlorine it made me cough and really stung our eyes. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights but only stayed for 2. When we were leaving there was no one on reception so didn't complain to anybody. Overall an awful lodge. Would not stay again. At great expense per night I expected it to be beautiful like the pictures on the website but it wasn't. Supposed to be executive!! Not happy at all 😟"

"We secured Bridge House as a last minute deal. The only other review on this site seemed to rate the property 1/10 despite the person not staying at the property (I understand the frustration but I didn’t think this was particularly fair to rate the property so low if they had no experience of it).Upon arrival we were surprised to find this cottage sits at the front of a small site housing approximately 12 log cabins. The site is appealing as one enters it. It is approximately 200m away from a reasonable children’s play area, basketball court and football pitches. On site there are spa facilities which we hadn’t prices for, but based on the lack of availability my wife was unable to experience this service. The site is quiet, and we found Ian, the on-site warden, friendly and understanding of a few niggles. The property itself was clean, and well supplied, with some essentials such as tea bags, milk and washing up liquid provided. The hot tub was a very welcome addition, and there is a fair sized garden to enjoy a summer’s evening. We opted for a stair gate, which wasn’t present upon arrival. A stair gate is needed for young children as the only bathrooms are on the split level of ground level, so young children who sleep walk may fall easily (as our youngest highlighted. I did offer to go and buy one and it was put in place by Ian, with a refund given. The master bedroom mattress is arguably the hardest and most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on. It really needs to be changed!Overall we enjoyed our experience and would return to the cottage again."

"We had a lovely week at Park View Barn. We had perfect weather that helped, so we spent a lot of time in the 'sun room' and south facing garden. We have two dogs and the garden was secure and big enough for them to investigate smells and noises without feeling hemmed in. The trees in the garden were full of ripe apples that kept falling from the branches, so we utilised them - and the wonderful kitchen - by making apple cake and apple crumble. The walks in the woods nearby were excellent too. Going to a new area with dogs is always a little unnerving as you want to be sure they are safe and not going to get lost. The wide mown pathways meant it was easy to keep a track on where the dogs were and it was easy to find your way around. The location is beautiful and waking up to see horses and chickens out the window was lovely. And the sunrises and sunsets were stunning too. You truly felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. However, if you did want to go anywhere it was not far to civilisation. Only two things were disappointing, one the road to the property is unmade so if you have a heavily laden car with not great suspension - look out! The other was the shower, not overly safe if you have mobility issues or are unsteady on your feet. We would visit again. We needed a week away to relax and do nothing. This property allowed us to do this and not feel guilty about being lazy!"

"Absolutely loved the lodge. The set-up was perfect and it was very clean and cozy. The kitchen was amazingly well-equipped, better than any holiday cottage we have ever rented. Had everything we could possibly have needed. The grounds were brilliant, loved walking the dog and exploring the lake and the Harold Staunton estate. Only niggle was the many flights we could hear taking off and landing at East Midlands airport at all hours of the day and night (only stopped between 3 and 6 am), the first few nights we had difficulty sleeping because of the noise but we did get used to it eventually and we found ear plugs in the cupboard which helped too. It's just the location and nothing can be done about it. We were surprised how loud it actually was, but saying that, we loved Deerpark Lodge so much we would stay again. It was so perfect in every other way, and the woodsy detail was lovely and bets of all, we saw a fox every night right outside! and rabbits quite a bit too :) We loved and appreciated being able to bring our dog so much too."

"Lovely spot to stay, nice local walks, plenty of interesting places to go with in easy reach. Cabin comfortable, and bedding clean and fresh, only fault we found was the patio doors could not be opened as lock was broken, and key would not work in it. The strange thing about it was the sign on doors saying FIRE ESCAPE, place was clean on arrival but in the oven was a roasting tray with rancid fat in it. Could have done with some leaflets and information guides on places to go, and clear instructions on the electric cooker, the cooking settings were to faded to see. But we had a enjoyable holiday, very quiet, and peaceful, except for one of the people in one of the cabins had a firework display on the Saturday night."
