"Lovely little holiday flat with great owner and friendly helpful neighbours. Pretty much everything you need for a week's holiday tv, oven, microwaves, washing machine, buckets and spades. No tumble dryer but plenty of radiator clothes airer so wasn't essential. Beds and sofas comfy. Secure back area ideal for the dog. 8 minute walk to the beach and 5 mins to local shop for essentials. 10 minutes to Tyne Tunnel. Lidl and Aldi 5 minutes away. I organised a Tesco Delivery for our good though which arrived no problem. No issues with parking lots of space. Would have been a 10 across the board if a couple of niggles were addressed. Electric and gas weren't on meter and requiring top up (no mention of this when booking). With the cost of the accomodation I would expect this to be included. In addition in the house we couldn't get any mobile phone reception nor internet. Which in this day and age makes organising day trips etc tricky. Again for the cost and would expect wifi (even if there was a small surcharge for this if you wanted it.)"

"Kestrel Cottage is very well decorated, clean and extremely well equipped. The owner is onsite and is very helpful and caring. There is lots of car parking space and a small garden with seating and an umbrella. The views from the cottage were very rural and there was a good pub within a mile with a large variety of food. There are a lot of days out in the area and we had a varied and interesting week. We visited Seaham and Crimdon on the coast, Souter lighthouse(National Trust) and cliff walks, Hartlepool Royal Navy Museum with an old warship and demonstrations (at the weekend), Cragside (National Trust) where they first powered electric lighting, Beamish Museum, Washington Old Hall (National Trust) where George Washington’s Ancestors lived and Durham where we parked at the Park and Ride, visited Durham Cathedral, had a tour around the castle and walked by the river. A wonderful week had all round."

"This cottage was perfect for us. There was plenty of space (2 adults, a teenager, a child and an infant), it was spotlessly clean and Jean and Amy had thought of everything! We got a lovely welcome hamper too. Jean and Amy couldn't have been nicer hosts -they provided extra things for the kids, gave advice on places to go and were generally lovely. There are plenty of things to do locally, although you have to drive a short way for other amenities- but that's why it's so tranquil! The closest beaches are pebbly but brilliant for picking sea glass and unusual stones -a hobby that entertained the whole family for an hour most days! There is a beautiful sandy beach qbout 30 mins drive away at south shields for hose that prefer building sandcastles! I can't recommend this place enough."

"I would thoroughly reccommend Brierdene End Cottage.A great location on an Arable farm with amazing views across fields from the cottage, yet within easy reach of Whitley Bay and the coast. And a resident herd of Welsh ponies to greet you in the morning. The Beehive pub just up the road. The cottage owners are very welcoming. We have stayed 3 times and have already booked up again for next year.We are from the North East and it is a perfect base for visiting family and friends, and enjoying the wonderful Northumberland countryside and coastline.Lots of places to visit in this lovely county. My only hesitation in telling everyone how good it is is that i hope there is room for me to go back there when i want to !! So glad to have found this cottage."

"Nice and clean on entering...bedding and towels good quality and kitchen well equipped apart from no dishcloth. Bed was comfortable but very low to the ground...not good for disabled people.Wood burner was very temperamental and difficult to keep alight...the handbook said there would be enough logs etc for the first evening but this wasn't the case. The sitting room was a bit chilly without the fire going. There is quite a high step down into the kitchen with no warnings and I stumbled on first entry and hurt my toe...left a stool in the doorway and a light on at night to prevent this happening again. Really difficult for disabled or infirm people.Great location and enjoyable break on the whole."
