"The cottage itself has been beautifully refurbished. It looks classy and contemporary with fresh, neutral colours throughout. The windows are all double glazed and the heating works well so the cottage felt very warm and comfortable. The bathroom had a powerful shower and a decent amount of space too. We've been in cottage bathrooms that were smaller and less comfortable. The cottage is situated very conveniently for the beach - it's only two minutes away. So we very much enjoyed a walk along the beach every day.The main bedroom bed was wider than a standard double (perhaps a queen-size but not a king?) and comfortable. The lounge and kitchen are cosy (i.e. nicely designed but not massively spacious). We found that it was perfect for us as there were only two of us. However, I suspect that both the lounge and kitchen table would be a little squashed (but manageable) if there were four of you.I have three niggles. One was about the supplies that were (or weren't) provided. We've stayed at eight other cottages with this cottages website in just over a year. And every single one of them provided enough dishwasher tablets for the entire stay. The Coastal Cottage only provided 2 dishwasher tablets for our 4-night stay. Along similar lines, every other cottage we've been in had kitchen foil (but not this cottage). The Coastal Cottage also provided us with only one toilet roll - whereas every other cottage provided a couple of spares. Other cottages have always provided a cheap bottle of handwash in the bathroom, but not this one. I mean, a bottle of Aldi handwash costs 55 pence - I'm not saying it has to be a top-of-the-range product. The Coastal Cottage is rated as a Grade 4 property on cottages dot com, but even the two Grade 3 properties we have stayed at within the last 18 months provided us with these small things. I have a suggestion for the owner: either provide these small things (that every other cottage we've stayed in has had) OR be clear in your response to this email that you will NOT be providing these things so that visitors can come suitably equipped. Either option is fine, so long as you manage people's expectations. We also had problems with the internet service. After 24 hours of switching the router off and on many, many times, I phoned the owner. She was very pleasant and suggested a different wifi connection and password. Unfortunately, this one didn't work terribly well either. I didn't want to be on the phone sorting these sorts of things out so gave up. But it was somewhat limiting when I wanted to check work emails, watch Netflix and so on.The final difficulty we had was with the washing machine. I carefully read the manufacturer's booklet for the washing machine and put a small load of laundry on the "Mini 30" wash, which was supposed to last 29 minutes. It actually lasted around 90 minutes! So be careful to leave much, much more time if you have to use the washing machine at all. However, both the relative lack of supplies and perhaps a problem with the washing machine timer were minor niggles. The lack of reliable internet was more irksome but not too problematic for us. And overall we had a lovely time."

"What a lovely place for an autumnal escape! Great location and a fabulously cosy and homely cottage to come back to each day. We have had some great walks from Dunwich, Walberswick, Thorpeness and Snape... thanks for providing the walking books and OS maps! We had an excellent meal at Main's Restaurant over the road and G&T's café, also in Yoxford, is great - amazing cake! The area is spoilt for choice for cosy winter pubs; we loved Eels Foot Inn at Eastbridge, the Ship at Dunwich and the Lord Nelson in Southwold... but there are many, many more! (and we did the pub quiz at White Hart in Blythburgh - it was packed! All in all a great stay. We return home well rested thanks to the comfy beds and lots of fresh air, we'd love to come back! PS. Also great Wifi compared to lots of holiday stays!"

"A wonderful week exploring Suffolk from this ideally located, cosy cottage. The highlight for all the family was a day at Covehithe beach, a glorious stretch of sand with very few people. Great views of Southwold Pier in the distance. Southwold offered us a lovely walk; we crossed to Walberswick on the foot ferry - a sturdy rowing boat helmed by an elderly but skilled skipper. The lighthouse was also worth a visit. We also enjoyed a day at Snape Maltings & Britten's Red House/Exhibition was good too. We were lucky to be here during Snape Proms. Sutton Hoo and Woodbridge (walk along the river) was another great day and we enjoyed the circular walk from Dunwich. All in all a super holiday enjoying the Suffolk countryside in a comfortable and homely cottage to return to."

"So many thanks - we have loved spending a week in this fantastic property - it has been an absolute treat! For visits - enjoyed a local walk early in the week, we got to The Munnings Museum near Dedham, and to The Little Hall in Lavenham - both lovely visits for two of our guests who are amateur artists. We enjoyed a super Easter Day lunch in 'The Peacock' just up the road - we had booked ahead and to be honest on that day it was a good thing as it was totally booked out. It was fantastic food - highly recommended. We both feel we have had a much needed relaxing time - such a comfortable week in the cottage. Thank you for the very warm welcome and all the help given. Perfect! "

"Our family had a wonderful stay at Lock Cottage. My husband and I enjoyed the spacious master bedroom with private bath, our girls each had their own room and bathroom and their friends shared the fourth bedroom. The location on the river was spectacular as were the views. The house stayed cool in the summer heat, and we watched the World Cup on their large screen TV when the local pub was too crowded. The kitchen was updated and nicely furnished with cookware, utensils and dishes. The only signs of the house history were it’s slightly uneven floors that added to its charms. We would love to return with family and more friends for a longer stay!"
