"There were 8 Adults & 3 children in our party, everybody had a fantastic time, I was a little apprehensive about the pool with 2 very small children before arriving but absolutely no need, it is totally fenced off & there is no way the children can get access to the pool without an adult in attendance. The pool itself was wonderful, our weather wasn't great for the first few days of our holiday but we still managed to use the pool most days, when the sun did finally shine it was wonderful in the pool. The house itself is very comfortable & there is more than enough outside toys & DVDs & things to keep people amused. The bedrooms are very comfortable with the exception of maybe the upstairs bedroom which apparently gas a very short bed in it! But we found our bedroom, which was the bedroom with conservatory, very comfortable. The garden is totally secure & our dog was secure in it & the 7 year old in our party loved playing ball in the garden. The kitchen is well stocked & the two fridges came in very handy, we found the owners very helpful via email & the cleaners were very helpful & we knew we could contact them if we needed to although we didn't need to, thankfully! All in all everything is amazing! Thank you for letting us stay there."

"We were quite happy with our stay at The Hayloft, but a few details mean we wouldn't consider staying their again as things stand. The owner is a delightful lady and couldn't be more helpful, so in terms of feeling welcome, I can't fault our stay. The biggest issue was a lack of a shower. It can't be impossible to install one, and for a family of four who were involved in outdoor activities, this proved to be a bit of a pain. The decoration and look of the accommodation, whilst very clean and in good order, is very dated and gave the place the feel of a budget B&B.For a property in this location, with the beautiful exterior look that greets you on arrival, this is a disappointment. It could be amazing!I feel guilty complaining about this one, because a hot tub is a luxury you don't find at every holiday let, but with the views on offer - to have it located in a shed, is a real shame.I appreciate that there may be planning issues, but the way it's set up is just not inviting.Sorry to be so negative, but this could be such a great place to stay if only it was brought up to date.To finish on a positive; the laundry facility was spot on and as I say, the owner is a lovely lady who made us feel very welcome."

"We have had the most wonderful stay at Higher Pempwell Barn, made even better by the fabulous hosts. The property is exactly as you would expect from Rural Retreats - furnished and equipped to a very high standard, and set in an idyllic position. Whilst there, we visited Tintagel and Pendennis Castles, the Eden Project, Trebarwith Strand and Perranporth beaches. The village shop is well stocked and the staff cannot do enough to help you. Our 4 year old loved helping out with the chickens and the highlights of our holiday (read our 4 year old's into this) included going to visit Holly the horse down the lane, seeing the chickens walk past the house and saying hello to the cows in the field opposite. We had dinner in the Springer Spaniel and Royal Inn pubs, both of which were superb and in close proximity to this property. If you are going to go to either of these places later on in the week, make sure you book to avoid disappointment. Please note that unless you have an Orange mobile, you will not get a telephone signal, but this is easily rectified by walking half a mile up the hill!!!"

"Stayed in March and as you can expect the pool had not fully warmed up, but the kids went in anyway and fully enjoyed it. Kitchen was fully equipped and a nice welcome package was gratefully received. Because the weather was not that brilliant, the kids made the most of the included board games and the adults made good use of the TV package. If we were to stay in the area again, I would first check out the Beech Owl Barn for availability, and I would probably book with Sykes Cottages again as I managed to get £48 cashback with Top Cashback. It all helps. If we are allowed to offer suggestions on improvements; the kids would like a path or stepping stones to the pool, and the adults would like the front gate area a tad wider. Having said that we had a fantastic holiday in a fantastic property. We loved it. Nearly forgot the best bit for me coming from a town, the wildlife in and around the great garden was fantastic to see."

"The place was beautiful, people very helpful and kind. The accomodation was at an excellent standard, but I am sorry I didn't feel it was suitable for a young baby in our case a 14 month old crawling toddler. We had a gate on the top of the stairs which was safe, but she kept pulling it and rattling it. The was no gate downstairs where the bedrooms are. It was much cooler and had access outside from the downstairs. I think more toddler gates would be good. Upstairs there are lovely double doors on both sides of the barn but again no gates so I couldnt open the lovely large french doors. It was very restricted for a baby, I would suggest young children, teens and adults it's perfect. Next time I will book a ground floor place. Unfortunately none where available when I booked hence I booked this place as it said it was suitable for babies."
